What helped me is the Keto diet. I lost 42 pounds since retirement 3 years ago. I eat 2 times a day. Limit carbs. No sugar. As a retired firefighter I have spent a lot of time working on an ambulance when I was working as a fire fighter. So I got to see firsthand the outcome of bad habits in people as far as health goes. That is a wake up call. My wife lost four family members all to alcohol she has one sister left. She is going down that same road and she knows it. Your health is everything if you don’t have control of it nothing else matters.

I was diagnosed in 2014 with NASH. I never used alcohol or drugs and the direct cause of my disease was binge eating disease. I was diagnosed at my Veterans hospital and I looked forward to help. However, it 2020 now and I was refused stomach reduction surgery because of my eating disorder. I have been told to lose weight and I repeatedly tell them that I have an eating disorder. Its not just not caring about what I eat. I obsess about a food that same way an alcoholic does and I end of eating something which perpetuates my disease. I feel bad I promise I wont do it tomorrow and then I do it again just like any alcoholic. At this point I have concluded that I am just being monitored until I die. I cant' change my eating and the VA waits for me to get my act together and lose weight. This eating disorder has destroyed my life since I was 16 years old when I started starving and binging. Now I have just accepted I am not going to be helped. I experience the intense exhaustion so I sleep almost without choice every day after sleeping all night. I get nauseated, and I have been formally tested with memory issues due to brain damage. It's really painful to reach the age where doctors see you as a senior who just needs to be treated symptomatically instead of putting me in a hospital until I get onto a healthy eating program just like an alcoholic does. This can happen to children as well as adults. eating sweets, pies, ice cream, all the produced sugar cereals, etc are setting your family member up for an early deterioration of the health in their life. They have seen cirrhosis in teenagers. This is not something to ignore.

Hope you are doing well now. I also suffered with eating disorder for few years.. Depression and stress makes it worse. Fortunately I was able to overcome it with raw vegan diet.. But with only fruits and veggies I was not able to sustain healthy weight for long.. So I again got back to cooked food which again results in binge eating.. For sometime I tried intermittent fasting which really helped me a lot for many months.. Nowadays I don't stick to any specific regime.. But I always make sure I eat healthy plant based diet and listen to my body. Also tries my best to keep myself away from stress or any sort of depression.

I thought it might end with the promotion of drugs....how predictable. Let's scare people into becoming dependent on drugs.
