jootube.tv "Naked Archeologist" producer for VisionTV & History Channel discusses his documentary work. He produced the controversial "Exodus Decoded" with James Cameron - seeking historical explanations for Bible's Exodus story.
THIS is why my daughter and I watched your show. Your brought 'fun' to the study. It never occurred to me that reading the Bible could be entertaining because most of the Ministers I've heard can not tell a story without yelling. But I put my grandpa in that place and give emotion, satire, and humor as available. This will make it easier to teach to my grandchildren. Thanks
A good series to watch when sitting home under a stay-at-home directive due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Archeology can use a little investigative journelism scepticism.
Thank you Simcha Jacobovici for the wonderful series The Naked Archaeologist!! It really helped me respect Jewish history, the people and their culture. Shalom!
Hi Simcha, truly enjoy the naked archeology shows! I have learned so much and I appreciate all that you bring us through these videos! Wish you all the best, always!
Fantastic Interview ! I stumble onto a video several days ago & watched them for DAYS ! Love his outlook & the factual look he gives to the religions of the world. Each video not only entertaining but also educational 🧐! Thank you for all your contributions to us all ! 🙂👏🏼
I'm (still) getting to know you, Simcha... thirteen years later! I believed you then, and I believe you now. You are a BRAVE man!!☝️Keep up the good work!! ☺️👍
I take his take as what I believe. His documentaries have very much affected me profoundly. What he has found has become the bases for my beliefs, and will continue to be. The Naked Archeologist is my reference in any and all religious discussions. Thank you, Simcha.
I love Simcha and I’m very grateful for his work. Many, many years ago I started to watch his productions and I bought DVD s and one of his books. This guy just open my mind. He is gifted by God. May God bless him and his family. Also, love Israel. Am Israel Chai !
ivthink simcha underwent deeper convertion into Conviction. indeed he accepts this blessing, and we are blessed by his sharing. blessing of course extensive to his team. thanks
His show is so interesting, plus he's funny. One of the most interesting takes was on Judas. Contrary to what many believed about Judas, that he betrayed Jesus (and he did) for 30 pieces of silver, Simcha gives a different possible motive (which I won't give away here) that makes so much sense for the times.
I LOVE his work, and cannot remember the last one I watched a few days ago on. I think the archaeologist name is Vassilios Tsaferis has the only roman nail ever found in tact driven into a ankle of a human skeletal remain found and dates very close to the time of Jesus Christ own crucifixion ,thus proving that the shape of the cross really was,and not the t shape, but x shape, and love how they match the biblical fact's to these archaeological findings. If anyone knows the name to which episode this is, I would like to know which one because I was unable to watch all of it ,and would like to finish the end of this one. Thanks for any help with this, and much appreciation for any replies giving help.I tried looking it up but to no evail...
I Love this Dude ! He's done a LOT to open up peoples minds to other possibilities and he asks questions that others haven't. As far as I'm concerned he found the box of the bones of Christ. The Archeologist's and the Scientists are all waking up and I think it's an incredible time we get to live in.
As a Christian leaning individual, I appreciate his investigations. I've learned so much from him. And honestly, his Revelations have helped solidify my personal beliefs in God, what religion means to me. May I recommend Nina Paley's this land is mine as a nice visual accompaniment to his series. It is a serious yet light hearted representation of the blood that's been spilled in and around the cradle of civilization.
As a Christian, I find that he helps me feel closer to my Jewish roots and also closer to understanding Jesus. The Archaeology goes a long way to help with my faith. Instead of being forced to believe something just because we've been told to believe it by teachers and priests and such, he presents the archaeology behind the culture and, to me, it just comes to life. Peace and love...
As a Jew I really like discovering Israel, I went in 2017, but because of work I only had 5 days to explore Jerusalem. I am going come back when I have more free time after I retire in 4 and 1/2 years and I have more free time.
Good evening Simca I love your programs especially the Exodus program. I come from a Muslim background converted to Born again and Now I follow the One true God of the TANAKH. When it comes to Israel and the holy land we see that the Muslims Christians and the Jews lived side by side before about 1890. So Simca what changed this and it was not the Muslim's? I look forward to your answer and if you could also include the history of the star of David as God forbids us to have symbols. God Bless Joshua Musani
I enjoy this man's show and I like the approach he takes with investigating the bible to prove that some of it is actual history, real events and not just fairy tales. Jewish, Christian or Athiest you have to admit that it takes guts to do what he does and put his findings and opions out there for "you" to either agree or disagree with. He has no negative option for those who don't believe in him so why do those who disagree has to be so extreme in their option of him. Its nice to see anyone taking so much time to research these stories. Its extremely fasinating and I wish I could go to the places he gets to go to and see the history where it happened. Kudo's to him!!
DB3650Brown DB-- I couldn't agree more! I find it revealing in the extreme that Simcha's opponents resort to what amounts to a sort of character assassination (in Hebrew we call this "L'shon hara", or "evil tongue or speech". Simcha does not sink to their level, because he knows that he is conducting his research in an ethical manner consistent with the teachings of The Torah. I have read the opinions and the suggested reading that is supposed to cast doubt on Simcha's findings and have found them wanting in several ways but I will concentrate on but one here: When you are dealing with antiquity it is nearly always difficult to fix an event precisely in time. Simcha's adjusting the "Archaeological clock" was absolutely necessary, not a liberty he took to prove his findings. This leads us to what you and I know but I think most of the public is not cognizant of and that is this; It is an unfortunate state of affairs that once a "Time" is agreed upon among the scholars of the time, it is protected like the Crown Jewels, but with an angry ferocity. They seem to say, "Hey! THIS is the TIME now and THAT is THAT!!" This kind of slavish mindset is anathema to any NEW discoveries! Shame! I hope to hear from you and enjoyed your post!
I don’t understand why my comment offended some. I wasn’t stating that God exists or that any one man can prove or has proved this. I was commenting on the admiration for the job this man has that allows him to go to places of history and hold history in his hands. I admire that he wants to prove that the places and the people in some of the stories in the bible actually existed. This is not proving the existence of God or promoting any specific religion in my eyes. It just proves that maybe the bible has some true history. What is happening in the comments of this video proves that the problem with religion is not the stories or the books or the actual “God” but the “Preacher” who uses that religion to promote hate and prejudice. Even an Atheist can preach hate and discrimination. The problem is not “God” but “the human race” because we make God real or NOT REAL to serve whatever purpose we need him to. We use the image or concept of God to influence the masses to hurt and discriminate, or try to shatter that image to break someone’s faith and hurt them. Also Samantha, I actually did mean “Christian, Jewish or Atheist”, because I am actually an Atheist, but I respect others in their beliefs of God or their religion. I simply enjoy history. The ones I have a problem with are those who use the “God” or “Religion” to hurt others. The problem is the Hate Preacher, and they don’t have to be of any religion. Insulting someone for believing is wrong too. If having their faith isn’t hurting anyone why should it matter so much to someone who doesn’t believe? Maybe some Atheists are just angry that God does not exist, or rather the peaceful protective God some of us have been raised to believe isn’t possible to believe in anymore, because at some point in their life their faith in him was broken through a disappointing truth or occurrence that maybe costed them dearly. Regardless if some believe in God or not we should treat others as we want to be treated. Its because we don’t do this that the human race will continue to decline and loose more and more integrity.
DB-- You make some insightful points as regards human nature. While I do believe in a Creator, I am not boxed in as to the particulars of such. That is one of the things I value about Judaism, it is a faith that encourages free thought and Jews are free to make up their own Ideas concerning God...or to not believe at all. As regards Samantha, she is plainly a Troll. In the unlikely case that you don't know what a "Troll" is, it is this; Someone who finds a thread that they vociferously dislike or disagree with but hang around making inflammatory comments and try to hijack the conversation. They are like crop damaging weevils. The key is to identify a Troll and make it uncomfortable for them to stay. I have seen Trolls literally totally derail a page. In the case of Samantha, who messaged me, I told her I was aware of her Troll status and that I was BLOCKING her from being able to contact me any more. This is how we fight the Trolls. Always a pleasure, DB. I am Michael.
1060michaelg I believe you are correct regarding that "Troll" theory. I've never heard of it before or encountered one until now. Thank you for the infor. And its nice to meet you sir!:)...
DB3650Brown DB, The more you navigate on RU-vid and read comments you will find someone being called out as a "Troll" as in "Go Troll someplace else..." And it is nice to meet you as well!
Simcha Jacobovici, the time of The Exodus, has been dated to 1615 to 1613 B.C., with the Eruption of the Greek Island of Thera ... The Egyptian Sage/Scribe Ipuwer, details the leaving of the "Slaves and Evildoers", and clearly mentions Volcanic Ash falling in Egypt. This was detailed in The Exodus Decoded. By the Way, The Destroyer is back in our skies right now, for it's 4TH appearance in Human History :(
I like to watch Simcha. He's a smart and likeable journalist. The problem is his opinions are highly speculative and often unlikely. He is not a specialist in archeology and holds no related degrees in any related field yet he claims to have made some of the biggest discoveries of all time! The Exodus from Egypt? Completely decoded and solved by him! Lost tomb of Jesus? Found and explained by him! He seems to have solved almost every major biblical mystery! Watch the documentary Exodus Decoded and listen to how many times he mentions how no one knew the answer to something "until now". He uses that phrase so many times it becomes almost laughable. Again, I love his shows but they're more speculative entertainment than real history.
I think he brings a new viewpoint to some issues and discoveries. Many discoveries have been found by amateurs or by people who don't have degrees, such as, the discovery of Troy, the dead sea scrolls discovered by a boy who through a rock into a cave, etc. I like him. Sometimes science needs fresh eyes and ears.
I come from a tribe in Africa which claim Israel origin. There Naked Archeology allow me to seemingly thiat history first hand and it reinforce my religious beliefs. Thanks
Definitely sad when historical sites are destroyed... The Buddha's in Afghanistan.. sites in Iraq etc due to war. It doesn't matter what your nationality or religious background. This is the history of humanity and should be protected.
After leaving my other comment, allow me 2 say that I enjoy his show very much, & I suspect many *Christians* do also, since he *does* pursue *New* Testament archaeology as well virtually all the time.
I have seen videos that advance the theory that the Temple mount os the remains of a Roman legion fortress and that the sight of the temple is to the south of the mount. I would love for Simca to look into this.
Great interview. But I have never heard anyone else claim that "Pharaoh" and "King of Egypt" were titles that could be held by two different people. What is the basis for that claim? My understanding is that "Pharaoh" originally meant the Royal household, but when it became used for an individual, it always meant the king, no one else.
Just to put things into perspective krakatoa's eruption shockwave is recorded to have circled the globe 7 times....santerinis has been estimated (it could be wrong its only an estimation) to have circled 10 to 12 times. Thats how large it was...........
To be fair there is plenty of stuff he believes to be the correct locations that are actually incorrect. For instance the red sea crossing location is in Nuweiba on the gulf of Aqaba not the Suez, Mount Sinai location is Jebel Al Laws in Northwestern Saudi Arabia and not in the Sinai Peninsula.
The other issues is the dates may be off, the phaoroh could be the wrong one etc but it is a plausible reasoning for the biblical story...it's for other people to go with this "theory" and either prove without shadow of doubt its correct or incorrect. People seem to forget Troy was a complete "myth" and "fairytale" until it was actually found in 1868, and the guy that insisted it was real was ridiculed for years right up until he did..........
Thats why he has gotten things wrong but it has pointed actual researchers and archeologists in directions they never would have thought of. For example its now pretty much the consesus the reed sea mistranslation is correct but the landslide theory given in his show for the parting of the sea was incorrect it was more likely the volcano at santerini collapsing into the sea causing a huge tsunami along very similar lines to krakatoa.
Simcha, you did find Joseph and l did too, He is father of Queen Ty! You can find: David is Thutmose III? Amenhotep III is Solomon? Moses is AkhenAten ?
The Arabic for Jew is "Yahud", i.e. Judean... And Jesus of Nazareth was a Galilean of Mosaic religion. His name is a variation of Yehoshua, the biblical character who lead the Hebrew army in their conquest of Canaan. Facts are sometimes painful.
Talpiot Yeshua Tomb was buried in 67 BCE ! Checked times age of the Maccabees ossuary You found! You work is excellent not political or religious. Yeshua lived in Queen Salome in 76-67 BCE!
While I enjoy watching his tv series & documentaries, for him to say that he approaches his work from the standpoint of an investigative journalist & not as an Orthodox Jew is simply not the case. Like any other deeply religious person, he cannot separate himself from that perspective/bias especially considering the subject matter at hand. This isn't to say he goes into each 'investigation' with an intentional/conscious bias or agenda, however to believe that his faith can be turned off & on like a light switch is both naive & troubling in that he doesn't recognize & account for his bias. Whether it was his religious bias, poor investigative journalism or simply commercial reasons (or all the above) his documentary regarding the "Jesus" ossuary demonstrated his failure to simply report the facts/findings of his investigation. In fact there was a completely separate documentary devoted to pointing out the obvious biases & distortions in his films, complete with follow up interviews with some of the experts that appeared to support his findings & interpretation of those discoveries.
For an orthodox Jew to give so much air time to Christianity and support archaeology as truth is amazing. There is so much evidence to support biblical stories - without the spiritual or theological baggage. A gentle giant; kind, smart and funny.
@@sunshine87654 Archaeology can't prove anything about Jesus being Messiah, Prophet or God. He knows that and unfortunately Jesus either didn't write anything down or his work has been lost/destroyed. He has thoroughly investigated old testament stories with a similar impasse. You can't disprove spiritual matters any more than you can prove them.
@@angrytedtalks I agree with most of that but I have watched enough of his films to know that he is on a mission to disprove Jesus as the Messiah while trying to prove that Judaism is of God.
Excellent shows....academia classically would deject any non PhD . Its quite amuzing when some prof. from europe will interpret scribbles on a cave wall and create a,whole schtick about some mythical society...argue with indigenous peoples telling them they are wrong about their own history..British actually stole half the mideast ....The academics in these fields are not really scientific per se....each one having differing opinions unlike physics etc .in fact they often behave like my rabbis
The only thin academia rejects* are things that dont hold up toscrutiny and fact. I love his shows and documentaries but they are entertainment, not research.
