Thank you Katie. This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been on Naltrexone for 2 months and haven’t noticed much difference. But I need to challenge my thoughts before I drink.

Why don't people ever talk about fast responders and how that isnt good either. Nal doesn't work for me bc it cuts off my desire to drink IMMEDIATELY and thats not what I want at ALL. Its the same thing as going cold turkey. I dont want to not want to drink overnight because my body and mind are so misaligned that I literally feel CRAZY. Why doesn't anyone talk about this? Its a huge huge thing. Where you are not mentally prepared to quit in 3 days. I was hoping I'd eventually get acclimated to less and less alcohol over time where your mental state can also align and through therapy as well. But that is so NOT the case with fast responders. Its not a gift, its a detriment and I quit the treatment every time. Its been 5 years ive tried and i dont think fast responders do well if they are truly struggling with alcohol and what its done to their brains. Be grateful it doesn't work fast. That's THE BEST WAY! You get to heal in the process. Not at ALL the case if you are a fast responder.

Naltrexone work for me easily in the early stages. I think its a lot of mind and wanting that change too. Some dont simply except the change without "the change in mind"so to speak. They fought thru the medicine, without wanting change. You absolutely.have to want to change before you make the actual change....if that makes sense..

Hello Katie, I thank you for what you do. I've watched many of your videos... I go months at a time in which I drink many (10-15) beers every day. I also go months at a time in which I don't drink a drop of alcohol. When I'm drinking, I just about drink 24 hours a day. It's all or nothing with me. You espouse the Sinclair Method. However, with your coaching experience, do you believe the standard once a day dosage is as effective as the Sinclair method for people like me?

Great question! Since I’m not a doctor, I can’t tell you about how you should take naltrexone. But I will say, this medication is very nuanced and people take it differently, depending on their drinking style. There are several people in our program who take more than one dose a day because of their drinking style. This is something that their doctor advises. I have seen this treatmentwork well for binge style drinkers! Sometimes it seems to work even better for these types of drinkers (if they are committed), since they don’t struggle with the daily ingrained habit that many of us daily drinkers have.
