I suspect that this is the case among fighting game players because they are used to eat shit, they don't see how well other genres treat their playerbase so they think this is the norm. a $70 game that sells cosmetics in its shop should not have paid DLC characters (busted on realease pay2win btw), the $70 game and the cosmetics should be enough to fund the game.

Theyre opinions have been clear since tekken 7 for me, murray and harada never said shit about autoblock scripts, pluggers, ddosers and dodgers in t7, but when kunimitsu was being played early by the simplest edit of a txt file, murray started losing his shit and threatening to ban people

I completely agree with his stance on bamco since t7 and the messed up business practices. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency with the tekken shop and the execution of the scummy tekken coins too. Paid frame data, calling fans and consumers idiots and stuff like roach motel and the increasing disrespect is ridiculous. For there to be no recourse or fix to the problems the community mentions and to go after people in your community that bring more viewership and retention around your game is baffling. Yes I've experienced Bamco antics for over a decade now too and it's always been a bitter experience. My least favorite thing that happened over that decade is this personality that has been created for Harada through his online presence. Personally I've found every Tekken title after T6 (and maybe TTT2) to be extremely lackluster and T7 being the worst example of that. It feels like as time goes on the only response from Bamco on these lackluster titles is just the "don't ask me for shit" personality that has been created for Harada. He tweets, does interviews, and appears trailer and announcements with this attitude of basically "everyone should just be grateful for what they're getting from Bamco." And NEVER with the response of why franchise this successful is struggling with things current day developers are simply not struggling with at all today. We've had netcode issues since T6!! Somehow much of the Tekken community has applauded this kind of response from the Bamco team despite the fact there's much to be concerned about in terms of development, content, and quality of life for Tekken titles. Now in T8 things are getting uglier. We've gotten yet another shitty customization mode and the response to that was Tekken shop???? It's really sad to see.

I truly respect the bravery you're showing to take a stand without sugar coating it. It may sound hatefu to some, but only someone who really cares about a game and its community would go this far to push for an improvement. Tekken 8 is arguably the best fighting game out there right now. It deserves to be held to a higher standard. The current issues with it are making it a meme.
I pretty much stepped away from fgc, tekken, and content creatiom altogether but I'm glad someone as big as you is unfiltered when it comes to criticism. I know you may not think 34k subs is big but it's a significant number for fgc content. Obviously some fanboys are gonna come over but that's to be expected. I also like that you mentioned bigger content creators being silent. I remember when I made my "Why Tekken 7 is Disappointing" video came out" and a lot of big content creators that you may know agreed with me by sending me DMs but never would mention it publicly.

Tekken 8 is the first Tekken game I lost interest in before hitting that 100 hours played mark. It's really sad because I love this franchise so much and play since Tekken 1...
Same here, played since T1, really got into it during TTT2, became competitive in T7, and now I am just not motivated enough to play T8. I do not want to play the newest installation in a series I enjoyed playing for more than 20 years. BN have a talent, but it's not something to be proud of.
T7 ranked even with its fewer players, longer matchmaking and shitty loading "get ready for the next battle" screens, at least in my experience, had higher quality online matches on average. Of course there were occasional pluggers, cheaters and one and dones but not nearly as much as I've had in only around 100 hours of T8. Maybe its the rose tinted glasses syndrome but idk man.
Player count is terrible for a new release. 14,082 24h peak on Steam and Tekken 7 was at around 5000 players towards the end of its life when it reached its worst. So that means only 9000 new players still play regularly if we take away the 5000 addicts and content creators.
it really is a sad state of affairs. There's so much to love here in this game, presentation wise and even mechanic wise. Yeah, I do think the heat mechanic and even chip damage are throwing some interesting twists in the game. But the sheer amount of executive meddling to jam the monetisation right up the player's ass, the seriously glaring issues with pluggers and cheaters... I remember when they recognized how important it was to foster an online player base during covid, but honestly it seems they threw this in the air and are back to the "arcade is what actually matters" mentality

As for Harada, when he called Dogura (Guilty Gear & other fighting games legend) on his bar, he said how Guilty Gear Xrd should've sold more, & how Bandai Namco would have taken the sales number seriously. So the speculations of Tekken Tag 2 being the end of the franchise seems true. No wonder we never get remasters of past Tekken titles on modern consoles. When Tag 1 HD was released, it had input lag & also the same bugs which were there in the PS2 version. That's how sloppy a job they did. People talk about SNK being acquired by MBS but even before acquisition, they had most of their games re-released on modern platforms. I've observed it; by the end of the day, it all depends on the company. Looking forward to City of the Wolves! Looks sick!

I thought I had actually bought this F2P game but I must remember wrong. I'm glad they implemented Tekken Shop and Battle Pass so fast after release but no anti-cheat so I can get plugged 1/3 matches. Also this way they got great reviews and the managed to avoid giving Tekken Coins with Deluxe Edition, WHAT A MOVE! So sad other content creators are fine with all this. As you said they collaborate directly with Bandit Namco but still. I'm gonna embrace the "go fuck yourself" slogan. Fuck Harada, Fuck Murray, Fuck Bamco. Can't wait for Project L (can't remember the new name).
Attacking mod videos is not going to increase in-game store sales especially if players never had the intention of purchasing those items to begin with. They shouldn't be nickel and diming players with Tekken coin garbage and instead shift focus on fixing their imbalanced and busted game. I haven't bought the game yet, and after watching other people's videos, I realize that they're still dragging the same problems from 2 or 3 titles ago. They want the game to have a 10-year lifespan, but the game doesn't even deign to use the Game as a Service model, and they don't even fully understand it. The idea of playing Tekken is to have fun with the game, not to get angry about things that should have been solved decades ago, or to restrict players' freedom with the game.

The minute Namco introduced micro transactions in this game, and that too, of ICONIC LEGACY OUTFITS, which Namco KNOWS people would want and they never even mentioned this and added it weeks after the game launched, I knew it was only a matter of time before modders get screwed over because of Namco's greed. Someone even did a breakdown of the outfits and how they straight up look like upscaled ports of pre-existing outfits from T7. Thank you for speaking out for something like this, though this is something that should have been dunked on by every major Tekken content creator. Can't believe people put that clown Harada on a pedestal, because this whole incident points at either of two things: 1. His hands are tied and he's a puppet who is controlled by the higher-ups at Bandit Namco; or 2. He just doesn't give shit about actual problems like this. Shop skins are pathetic and I’m on console so get no mods, I understand mods conflict but why not put out a message warning RU-vidrs and then take action if it’s ignored and instead of a copyright strike or losing their channel why not give that creator a chance to take the video down before action is needed. Greed will be the death of a lot of good franchises and it’s a shame. Anyway massive respect for voicing your frustrations about this am glad I watched the video gave it a like and have been subbed since T7.
We warned a ton of fanatics about this but no one ever listens. As a guy that works in corporate, don't expect to get any better until people really stop investing any sort of extra cash on this game. But no one will listen

Unfortunately i am stuck playing this game cause i love it too much and there is nothing quite like it really, while dealing with these kind of people as developers aswell. I dont understand how people wth passion clearly for creating characters with very unique moves and personalities and mechanics, are also able to treat the customers this way. Its a joke really, a bad taste one.

there is a bunch of nonsense that relates to this being version 1 of the game but my core issue is with how the heat system makes the gameplay very one dimensional bcs of how it dictates and demands you use certain options the other stuff can be fixed easily but if they dont direct this system into smt else, this game isnt for me
I'll be honest, I took a step back from fighting games for a good bit after feeling absolutely scammed by MK1 and then let down over capcoms terrible post launch content schedule for SF6, so didnt really get around to trying T8 yet. Judging by how T7 went though I figured T8 would be smooth sailing and a general positive good game, this is all terribly shocking to hear, that sucks. So greed and microtransactions have now literally ruined 3 out of 3 of the recent major fighting games to come out, unbelievable. Fuck it, im just downloading Guilty Gear again, this new shit blows lol.

I wrote a review on the game after ending my fifth ranked session in a row that consisted of ONE person on a playable machine. Everyone else was either mashing screenshot in combos, or on such dogshit hardware it made the game run at a slideshow pace. The fact that you can hop on the ranked mode of a game and make your own hardware bottlenecks your opponents' issue is just... I don't have words for how quarter baked this online is. But they can kill mods. With this and Dragon's Dogma 2 recently, I can comfortably say fuck the Japanese game industry.

It depends what kind of mod it is, if its something from bandai that they have created, before they have a right to copyright it, but if you are creating different mods like Disney they dont have right to copyright you Disney does.
I saw this video pop in my feed and as a tekken first timer I was curious. Ive always been a soulcalibur/mk guy but my buddy finally talked me into it with T8. Overall while the game definitely has a fair bit of jank- it seems more balanced than it probably is. Im having a blast and actually just last night took my first journey into ranked with Leroy and steamrolled my way into brawler before i started finding some really solid matches and actually getting thrashed a bit. The game itself be it going through story or matches online doesnt feel outrageously broken save for a few outliers. The whole bamco situation is definitely messy and not having seen the modding situation im a bit disappointed as I was hoping to mod the game a little at some point but hopefully a brighter side comes around. This game has issues for sure. In game and on the development side- Widespread discourse and discussion is definitely the way to go. If you truly love and enjoy the game, blast them all the feedback you can as loud as you can. Despite the issues, I'm genuinely enjoying it myself so far even with rough patches. Here's hoping the game sees nothing but improvements down the line and that bamco listens to and implements the feedback. 🍻
