I think the point was that Usopp *didn't* know what he was doing. He knew that Nami knew all about weather so he threw some vague "weather-ish" concepts together (cool air, warm air, electricity) and it just happened to work out because it's *Nami* She even lampshades it with the line "He doesn't seem to understand it himself"

In the manga Miss Doublefinger only misses twice and all the other times Nami manages to use the surrounding to evade her attack. While in the anime they added way too much attacks and as a result they had to make sure, all of that attack misses Nami. Usopp only wrote the instructions for the Tornado and the party tricks but creating a thundercloud by combining cool and warm bubbles togather, creating a Mirage, these things are all improvised by Nami herself.
@keithgraham8588

Usopp isn't that dumb. slight spoiler..... If that is the case that he didn't really understand it, then how was he able to upgrade it later? He took Nami's weather forecasting skill in mind when creating the weapon, sure she was the one who knew the exact combinations, but Usopp knew those things were possible if someone like Nami were to use it.
@concentratedH2O
@concentratedH2O 7 месяцев назад
@@keithgraham8588 Who said anything about Usopp being dumb ? Ofcourse he designed it based on Nami's ability of understanding weather but he only installed the basic mechanisms. For example the thunder was just little ball of sparkle or the rain tempo was just water sprinkler but Nami used cool ball, warm ball and the sparkle ball to create clouds and then create thunder or rains

one of those cases where the adaptation really fucks up, like massively. I think that's where I sometimes get mildly annoyed with their analysis section, because they really critize the anime, not the manga, but have "no" idea since they basically ignore the manga - I don't fault them for it, though! it just comes with how they consume the story - I get much more salty with the anime because of it, especially with the recent comments by OP animators justifying their work while completly downplaying or ignoring the downsides of it all, especially with a weekly show

You guys GREATLY misunderstood this fight and the Clima Takt. Ussop never created it with the idea of making mirages or making storm clouds, he just inserted heat spark, cool spark and shock spark, that's all, Nami took it from there with her weather knowledge, so I think you're discrediting her a lot. Yes, the fight is not super serious, but it showed Nami's determination (getting stabbed to get an opening) and her creativity, using the basic features of the clima takt to improvise abilitis like the mirage thing.

@@marcel1105 Been watching this playlist from the start the past two weeks or so, and I've really noticed that a lot. A few times, they acknowledge they're wrong, though. I don't mind a lot of speculation and stuff, but when they go like "Oda obviously forgot this," or "this was clearly intended to mean something else," or "there must be some idea-copying going on because more than one story has a character that can disguise themselves as others," that kind of stuff does get annoying. On the flip side, I've noticed it happening a lot less as they go on, and I'm hoping by the time I catch up (they're going through Eneis Lobby right now on RU-vid) they'll come around with a lot of that, hah.

Lindsay is half correct: Usopp DID write down instructions for Cool Ball, Heat Ball, Thunder Ball and Tornado Tempo, but that was it. Nami was the one who figured out "use cool ball in the dry air, make mirages" etc. Usopp gave her the basics, but the combination techniques and her "broken" techniques are due to her ingenuity and knowledge of weather patterns. It is the ideal weapon for her character, whether Usopp intended it or not.

And sticks that blow hot and cool air are also a thing (air conditioner), you just can't fit the whole system with compressors, condensers, etc. in a small tube. But it works as an anime exaggeration. Usopp could even have used endothermic and exothermic reactions with some chemicals to make the air cool or hot. The tact's abilities are actually heavily tied to real science, which is more than most anime powers get for an explanation. It's one of the coolest power ups in One Piece.

But I mean, legendary devil fruit aside, being blood related to the Monkey D. family, the Vinsmoke family, or the God of the Blade and the Shimotsuke family already make you pretty special. Also, Usopp has enough build up for the most broken sniper power up, given that his dad is the sharpshooter in a Yonko crew.

Haha this is actually one of my favorite of the crew's fights in this arc, maybe after Sanji's. Nami's strength does not lie in her physical prowess but in her newfound strength in letting other people help her "ussop lending her his inventions" and her genius as well to adapt. the thing about this series is it's not about power scaling or the fights because even the bounties cannot testify if a person truly is stronger than the other. the fights are more symbolic than what the surface of Shonen genre leads it to be

To me the part i really like about this fight is that other that the final attack the clima-tact is just a stick with party tricks, it's a very Usopp-like weapon in that it's just a bunch of fake outs to lower the guard of the enemy and then hit them with the real attack:the Tornado Tempo. But thanks to Nami's actual knowledge she is able to do more than just that, i feel like it's a really good combination of the themes of "getting stronger thanks to your friends" and "holding your own with your own strength". Now for trivia: One Piece at a time: In the manga there is a cover page showing Usopp working on the clima-tact and it's red in the manga, just like Nami's staff. So in the anime it seems like Usopp just made a new weapon but in the manga it's more clear that he used Nami's original staff, that's why it breaks into three. Also Nami's attack names have both an english word and the word "Tempo" meaning "weather" in italian.
@sanji_joestar
@sanji_joestar 7 месяцев назад
A prior comment mentioned it but the Fight is much shorter in the manga and Nami's success is thanks to her knowledge The final blow wasn't Usopp's attack at work even if he made the weapon but Nami combining the heat and cold sides for an explosion The birds are just decorations that grabbed onto Miss Doublefinger The real attack was the spin making both heat and cold spin at high velocity before being suddenly stopped, a bigger version of Nami's previous attack

About the Nami fight, consider it like giving the plans to activate a nuclear missile to a caveman. Sure, the tools are right there, but it is useless unless someone who has dedicated their lives in studying that field knows exactly what they're doing. I don't consider it unearned, because Nami had the knowledge of the weather phenomena ever since her introduction. She just didn't know how to implement that knowledge into a fight, and Usopp came in to produce something that produced slight changes in temperatures, but enough to help Nami take it to the next level with her knowledge.

I liked the idea of Miss Doublefinger being such a big shot within the organisation that Nami's failures and risible antics just led her to underestimate her the entire time...which ultimately led to her losing the fight. Also, she only misses twice in the manga. The fact that the anime added things to draw out the fight made her look less efficient. However, I still like the fight because Nami usually does not get to participate in the roughhousing like the other crew members. Also, Miss Doublefinger's powers are quite cool.

Basically outside of the party tricks and tornado tempo, everything else she does with the weapon is all Nami and her knowledge of how weather works.

As some people have said, Usopp really didn't know that those things were possible with the weapon. He just relied on the knowledge that Nami is incredibly smart and would have the ability to formulate strategies and tactics based on the tools provided. For that matter, it's not a spoiler per say, but during a little Q&A segment in the manga called SBS, Oda actually points out that Nami is the third smartest person in the entirety of the East Blue region, meaning she is actually incredibly intuitive and intelligent.

About Clima Tact and Nami as a "fighter"... Forget the "leveling up". This kind of comparision only exists at fans imagination. Each enemy has a way to be fight against and conquered. Yes Miss Doublefinger was quite superior not only by her powers but also to be a pro killer! But what she did with that superiority? Took easy, mocking Nami, underestimating her... To the point that Usopp "toy" invention defeated her together with Nami knowledge of weather. And really, clima tact intrusion was just as much silly like Mr2 swan snickers, or a bazooka who ate a dachshund zoan devil fruit, os a camel disguised like a princess. I mean, the purpose of that was to give that funny remarks about Usopp party diversion. The fact that Nami as a navigator in a pirate anime can use weather a weapon is not big deal.

I’ve always seen the clima tact as the perfect weapon for Nami. We’ve always known that Nami has good knowledge of how weather works since she’s the navigator of the crew. Usopp originally created it to fit his style of fighting (distractions etc). He doesn’t realize that the cool, heat and electric balls can be combined or utilized to create/manipulate weather phenomena. Nami won’t necessarily use the other ridiculous party based functions in future battles now that she knows that the clima tact can be used to make weather. It suits her perfectly.

I do think you're underselling how much of a threat miss doublefinger is.yes she missed like a coupel times but she DID hit nami a few times an they were pretty serious hits too, and a lot of her not immeditaely killing nami could be put down to her jsut not taking nami seriously as a threat and playing with her. And a there is a couple times where she DID land a killing blow its just nami was quick witted enough to distract her with mirages. I do like how creative Miss DOuble finger's attacks become. One normally doesn't think 'spike person' and 'use spikes like acupuncture/injections to make yourself more buff' I do adore that unlike as you say Sakura in naruto Nami isn't suddenly made out to be a fighter (and thus set up disappointment when she...you know...doesn't fight as much) and instead only wants to fight when given no other choice and to specifically help out her friends who are fighting hard. She's a coward in her own right, and more than that her greatest weapon is her intellect, in particular her skill at predicting the weather. So she is given a weapon that plays on her strengths. She's also not suffering from the same flaws as Sakura as she is given more to do outside combat, even if its mostly implicitly so as not to drag the story down Ialso love how fucing BRUTAL this fight gets. Nami gets straight up stabbed at least three times in this fight including right into her FOOT and she pwoers through it like a champ

I always figured that Ussops was making the weapon for himself, and when Nami came he made modifications for the weather, because he understood the feelings of inadequacies Nami express and gave it to her. Ussops plan was to use tricks to drop the guard of his opponent and then the tornado tempo to finish them off. Typical usopp, he made the weather changes but didn't know how to use them which is why Nami had to figure it out herself. But absolutely it to took miss 1/1 new years,, double finger, to really have her guard down to give Nami any chance. She shouldn't have been beat by Nami except Nami using her genius, and miss doublefinger not taking her serious the whole time. Plus it's seems at this point the Baroque work agents weren't particularly enthusiastic about Crocodile manipulating them and they lost some motivation after learning of his plan. Miss doublefinger issue is she doesn't take Nami seriously. Shes overconfident and looses cause of that. Also, in the manga she takes a lot less hits. I would explain why Miss Doublefinger stabbed herself to make herself temporarily buff with thick spikes but that would be a spoiler. Next, Nami like I explained to you last time on a different video Nami is a genius. Its a skill you 2 keep ignoring and underestimating and than complaining about it even though its existed in the series since Nami first appear in the series. Its something you two share with Miss doublefinger. Also, mirages are weather related not sure how you didnt know something so basic. The weather balls works by changing the temperature. Heat balls make the environment hot, and cold balls by making the environment cold. Its literally self explanatory. Also, Ussop can't use it cause he doesnt understand the weather. He only understand the basics. He couldn't pull off what Nami can do because it would take him years of research and he still wouldn't be anywhere as good as her. Your point was really bad its like you were saying the person who created the gun should be the best at shooting cause they made it.

When compared to regular human beings like Usopp and Nami their power gap is insanely huge. Usopp and Nami rely on their intelligence and wit to fight and to try to keep up with them. They're basically like the Batman of the crew compared to Superman but obviously not as skilled and strong as Batman but that's the best comparison. The anime really stretches out the fights, especially later on, even when it comes to side characters that in the manga get dealt with very fast. The result is that some villains in the anime end up coming off as more incompetent, weaker or stronger than they actually are in the manga depending on the situation.
@bluelight17
@bluelight17 7 месяцев назад
@nathandaniels20 i find Nami playing around with the clima tact really entertaining, but especially in the anime Miss Double Finger, the highest ranked agent with Mr 1, ended up looking so incompetent when she could have killed Nami so fast instead of just standing around waiting for her to do something😅I think they could have still stretched out the fight in a more believable way if they had to fill time.
@bluelight17
@bluelight17 7 месяцев назад
@nathandaniels20 i know, that's why either make it a shorter fight (but we know anime would never do it lol) or make it somehow more dynamic at least. I don't know, make Nami use the clima tact like her old weapon, to defend or deflect attacks or something. Btw i still like this fight, i love Nami's clima tact, and Usopp making it to be a party game too was hilarious, i just would have liked to see Miss Double Finger as more of a threat.

Yes, I was hyped for this fight. She used the Climatakt "party" features to her advantage with her knowledge of the weather. Usopp wasn't even aware of the practical applications for those.

About strenght, it's more like in OP there are regular people without devil fruits that are still really strong (Zoro and Sanji) and others that just aren't (Usopp and Nami). Though even the weakest members of the crew survive insane things, like recently in Little Garden where Usopp not only survived but was up in very little time after getting bombed multiple times and a woman weighing tons sat on him lol not much logic behind it really😅

I like the cool/ heat balls and mirages and lightning, but the last attack isn't really a weather ability at all and feels wrong to me. Wish she could have finished the fight using her knowledge of the weather to make it feel more earned.

Don't worry I think most people had those complaints when watching the anime, the manga did the fight much better, as for Usopp just giving her the power, I agree it came out of nowhere but, it is mostly Nami's brain that makes it actually useful, and it pretty much completely drops the gag aspect after this fight thank god.

I don't like how Oda dealed with Nami abilities, giving her clima tact thing. Yes, from one hand it seems that this weapon suits her, but how it was introduced was horrible. Nami was able to stub Usopp with Knife, she is smart and etc, and all that losed to this gag clown thing.

Do not worry guys, we understand your doubts and first impressions. There are lots of parts that the anime make things longer, change situations, and consequently changes the perceptions of some scenes. For example, Miss Doublesfinger misses more attacks here than in the manga. In the case of Nami´s weapon, Ussop just "installed" some tricks that are related to weather and assumed that Nami could do something with it because of her knowledge about the topic, that´s the reason that he wrote on the note that they can fight using their brain. And the weapon is like in his prototype phase, remember that feedback can always improve things.

the weapon makes sense for her, i do think at first it might seem like not. Outside of that though, I do wish more for her! Ussup made the weapon based on nami, and only her being able to use it. Thats why she said, "he probablyt has no idea what this can do" or something like that

Felt very forced for me to prove that she isnt useless but i think her role is way more important without being much help in fights and i get thats why she’s frustrated because she feels powerless but i would’ve preferred her and ussop teaming up instead so the 2 weakest party memebers can make up for being weak by teaming up and helping eachother

The weapon did seem kinda ridiculous outta nowhere. If Usopp can create things this powerful he should do it for himself. TBH, I really did not like many of the drastic changes after timeskip but for a series that's been running for over 20 years just learn to appreciate it as a whole.

doublefinger's also a very calm enemy. she only got the title because her devil fruit is actually strong but she didn't really participate in a lot of fights. she even asks nami to stay still so it'll be "easier" for her to kill her. if you remember the episode where all baroque works met together, you'll see what im saying.

Would like to add that, in all of BW agent pairs, the female partner is very much typically weaker, not on par with their male counterpart. Putting Miss Doublefinger on the same level as Mr. 1 just isn't accurate.

Yeah, Nami vs. Doublefinger isn't the greatest fight (though it at least flows much better in the manga), but I still appreciate it enough. And at the very least, she did come up with some of the more complex moves on her own (mirage, thundercloud). But yeah, it's definitely clear Doublefinger had to be nerfed for this fight.... but that's no big deal, IMO. And once again.... Crocodile is totally a James Bond-type villain. Flashy dresser, runs a secret criminal organization with a bunch of quirky henchmen under his employ, owns a casino, sets up elaborate deathtraps for his enemies, and to top it all off, his master plan is to conquer the world with a powerful doomsday weapon. Oda really isn't being subtle about the influences here, lol. 😂

I have a feeling that all these desert influences came from these little adventure movies called The Mummy(1999) and the Mummy Returns (2001). Alabasta came out in 2000. I really felt Alabasta vibes during the adventure montage. Also, Crocodile's powers is VERY similar to how Imhotep used his powers. Not only could they control sand, but they could also drain people's blood/moisture, create giant sand storms, and are pretty much invincible

I liked Nami's weapon minus the gags. Some small scale wheather manipulation seems perfect for a navigator. And I like the fact that it's kind of like a support way of fighting which is very different from everyone else. I did think they dragged the fight on on to much and Double felt nerfed the whole time with so many misses.
