The Weiss EQ1 hardware is some seriously high end Swiss engineering and the Softube EQ1 MP takes the DSP code port - literally a 1:1 line by line conversion into plug-in format. Its also a more DSP friendly version than the full EQ1 plug-in and therefore is designed to be used in multiple instances where a surgical linear phase eq is required.
We hooked up with Todd from Softube in New Jersey for a look at the plug-in.

Great product review. Seems to be another clone of a visual EQ like the pro Q3. The guy from soft tube cracks me up because he’s taking like nothing like this has ever been done 😂. I feel for him and his company...I get it, this is a fun EQ clone; but he seems unaware of how many visual EQs exist...

Tony Anderson It comes free with the existing Weiss plug-ins. If you already have an alternative, use that, but it's nice to have this in Softube's lineup, and it's based on highly regarded DSP.

@@bonchbonch They're welcome to put out whatever they like, I actually think this is pretty good. However, it is worth pointing out that there are cheaper and in some cases better options.

I've no doubt its a fantastic plugin but its very hard to get excited over a utility plugin like this which has so many equivalent alternatives, most cheaper too.

As a FabFilter ProEQ3 user I would find it hard to fork out more money for something similar. I love Softube, tho, but there's only so many dollars.

Moronic comments on this thread. Weiss has been doing precision digital EQs for over 20 years. Forget what other plugins have as far as features - Weiss runs the cleanest EQ technology around ; there's a good reason it's used in mastering studios.

Mastering studios had Weiss boxes because it was a clean digital EQ in an era when that wasn't possible on most PCs. There's no significant difference in sound between this and Pro-Q, so in a mixing plug-in, it comes down to UI and features.

It's a scam. Weiss EQ is like any other parametric EQ in the box. You can null it with other parametric EQ. Back in the days when original hardware were released computers were to slow so it was made into dedicated unit with DSP's and aimed at mastering engineers. Being niche product it was priced accordingly. Don't get me wrong it was the best at that time, but nowadays everyone has the same EQ in the box. Softube is good at marketing and fooling people who understand nothing about tools they use.
