Converted from the Other Voices | Other Rooms VHS. www.nancigriffith.com. Don Edwards joins Nanci to yodel on Night Rider's Lament written by Michael Burton
I didn’t know she had passed. I listened to “Other Voices, Other Rooms” with my family on many trips and nights of music together. We were so fortunate to see her live in the late 90’s. God bless you Nancy Griffith, we will always love you.
When you see stuff like this it makes glad to be alive! The magnificent Nanci Griffith ! Iwill miss you so much even though I never met you! Your music is burned into my soul! Sleep tight Nanci!
They are having so much fun…Nanci I’m so sorry that I heard that you had passed but yet I had just learned of your music. I’m catching up now. Thank you.. You’re like tears that washes your soul. So talented..
I saw you Nanci about 20 years ago as you and I were standing in the checkout line at the Kroger on Hwy 96, Franklin, Tennessee. You lived just down the road in Leipers Fork, somewhere near the Judds, I was told. I should have spoken when you were checking out my black bulldogging boots and black Stetson with the yellow 5th Cavalry hat band with acorns. I was too shy, and when you left the store the checker said I should have spoken to her because she is very nice and friendly. John Prine in his last album about a year before his death said that when he gets to Heaven he is going to start a rock and roll band. Now he has you to sing along with him again. Nanci, you and will finally have a long conversation when I get to Heaven. After all, I was not just another who moved to Nashville or Franklin from far away. I was born and raised in South Nashville. T for Texas -- T for Tennessee.
@@alan4sure Sorry for waiting three years to respond. I didn't see your message!! Here's my answer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KbvkCPlZU_Y.html
I also LOVE Suzy's version of this song, but can't seem to find it here on RU-vid anymore. The only one I can find is with Suzy and Jerry Jeff Walker. But, I've always loved Nanci's music too and yes - she does a great job of this one too.
Absolutely. Another singer who did a good job on the yodel for this same song - Suzy Boggus - her video is out on youtube as well - she sings it with Jerry Jeff Walker.
Magical, melancholic, uplifting. After listening to this CD for years, I decided I might find one of the sides on YT. Got Lucky, did this dame. Joy when you need just enough joy to remember this too shall prevail . . . When you live in isolation in a Hamlet without a Heart, you learn patience is a victory (if, that is, you write because you cannot help but write). The yodelling's a joyful noiseful. Thank you for uploading this sonic gift. (B: Forgive / regret me.)
This is a lovely version and the yodelling's simply sublime. But the version that moved me the most was Suzy Bogguss' live version - sadly no longer available here!
+Richard Starkey It's back on youtube, if you mean the one with Jerry Jeff Walker! I agree with you that it's beautiful. This one too--that Don Edwards is a FANTASTIC addition, bless him
@walkshe I have the live Suzy version with her band, will try to repost. Its been taken down twice by NBC,( like they own it), it was from a show called On The Road in the late 80's.
It’s been awhile but Nanci’s untimely death still stings. What a performer and what a collaborator! And keeper of the flame for so many great, often under appreciated, artists and songs.
It´s incredible but the version of this song by Garth Brooks is really great as well.I guess if he sang more songs like this he had more credibility in the world of the real country music.
I'm learning to appreciate Nancy Moore more but when she sings the song I don't get the feeling that she went to the spring at The Great Divide. But when Jerry Jeff Walker and Suzy Bogguss sings it it sounds like they went to the spring at The Great Divide
