The murder trial for Nancy Brophy, romance novelist accused of killing her husband Dan Brophy in June 2018, continues. It is expected that both parents of the victim will testify today.
Awww, this man is awesome! Jack Brophy is a trophy. I’ve got twenty years to go before hitting that age, and I hope I look that good and keep that sweet attitude and sense of humor then. OMG! I love this man!!
I would not mind looking like Jack Brophy when I turn 85. My goodness he looks SO much younger. I am SO sorry for your family's loss, seems like Dan was an awesome person. God bless you all
Jack Brophy just breaks my heart. I can't imagine being 85 and testifying against your daughter-in-law for murdering your son. I can't even express how badly I feel for David Brophy's family. 😔😔 RIP David Brophy you are clearly very much missed.
Unbelievable the selfishness to take someone's beloved son for money, driving the vehicle to kill him, given to her by his parents. I hope there is a Hell.
Unfortunately I don’t think there is a hell but she’s as close to it spending the rest of her pathetic life in jail, far far away from Portugal. I adore Dan’s dad ❤️
I never knew his parents gave her that van. They didn't even give it to her exactly, she just took it over from Dan! And she made him sleep downstairs? Really?
Jack Brophy is a strong man and looks very young to be 85. May he and his wife be blessed with more years and see the killer of their son account for taking their son away from them.
Wow the proximity of the defendant to the witness stand makes me nervous watching from my living room I can only imagine what it’s like for the witnesses….
She made a few too many blunders: the cameras not thought of; telling the police of gun ownership 'cause she thought she replaced a part compently; and telling her mother-in-law about his death before police knew. She never sold a book, never paid back the money loaned to her; and lied about selling the car. What a loser.
That's what happens when you think you're smarter than everyone else. I love coming back to this case again and again, because I get immense satisfaction watching that insufferable cow implode as the prosecution thoroughly picks apart all of her pathetic, essay-length excuses.
It's such a bad layout. Of course I doubt Nancy is spry enough to attack a witness, but I can't imagine being that close to the defendant in other cases.
I cry for this poor couple. They are so sincere, so lovely, doing their best to remember the details and get them right. Nancy destroyed so many lives, and not just Dan's. So far, no one has mentioned anything positive about Nancy, good memories, anecdotes, humor. This doesn't just seem to be because she killed. I think maybe no one knew who she was. Also, Nancy seems to have lied about a lot of things: part of the prosecution's goal here seems to involve highlighting Nancy's lies, including the stories she wove about the gun, the bit about Dan sitting around and watching TV, detailed lies about the van, lies about finances (Nancy had been borrowing, including from his parents, for years)....A whole edifice of lies: I imagine we have a lot more coming.
I think she did a whole lot of lying by omission. And, agree, it doesn't sound like many people knew her that well. She's was protective of information but then, I don't discuss my money situation with anybody, nor did I ever talk bad about my husband. Sounds like she was very plodding and steady and keeping her husband entirely clueless about their finances. oops, didn't I tell you we missed 6 mortgage payments this year?...
Isn't it creepy? There's not one shred of remorse or sorrow for her husband's murder. He was MURDERED, and there she is, cackling and grinning like she's having the time of her life!
I hate her hideous, beady little eyes. She just bores a hole right through you with that intense glare of hers. It's clear there's no remorse, no sense of love or sorrow behind those eyes.
@@deladrin2.0 Nah, it's definitely her pen. Those stenography machines don't follow that rhythmic "ka-CLICK-ka-click, ka-CLICK-ka-click" of a pen being repeatedly messed with.
Well of course, who else would have raised such a gem of a son? Dan Brophy was a very rare man. You will only find a handful of people as genuine, kind, and altruistic as him in your entire life, if you're lucky. Nancy never appreciated what she had. She just kept using his good nature to take him for all he was worth, then discarded him when she had finished bleeding him dry.
Dude is the youngest 85 yr old I've seen, look at that full head of hair, great skin and you can tell he was a very handsome man in his younger days and still is. So sad he had to go through this that late in life, all so this old pervert woman could get declined life insurance money.
I get sometimes lawyers have good reason for asking silly questions. In the end it’s usually tied up & understood, but majority of questions the defense ask are just a waste of time. There’s no sense or reason for them & wasn’t tied up in any meaningful way.
Eh, the same can be said for the prosecution. When Mr Overstreet asked Nancy some odd questions about things that had nothing to do with the current line of questioning and I felt didn't make sense, but there's a reason behind it. So, I dunno. I'm not a lawyer. I can't say if she's got a point to it or not, but I don't begrudge lawyers simply for defending terrible people. That's the right we have as citizens, they're just doing their job as the prosecutor is doing his.
@@WobblesandBean So in defense of the Prosecutor what he is doing would make some sense when dealing with a person who focus on story telling, you want them off their guard and leave them no way to prepare an answer ahead of time by giving them to much direction as to your questioning. It works if you take note of how often she clearly says things in frustration or in surprise to his questioning which gives away the info she might not have wanted too. The defense clearly also had a few avenues they were hoping to press into reality by constantly focusing on those alone, which is why they can't exactly deviate when doing questioning or cross, their narrative is flimsy enough it takes little to poke a hole in it if you do any simple thinking. The drop ceilings were a main focus recently because they wanted to suggest someone snuck in through the upper portion committed the crime and possibly left the same way, despite most people knowing those types of drop ceilings won't support weight to do that safely. Both sides are doing their jobs and it is really irritating to see how hard they are pushing a narrative.
I highly doubt Dan ever just laid on the couch watching anything. If he had that kind of down time he would have been reading a book. All this talk was set in place by Nancy. I believe Nancy did all the talking for them. Clearly Nancy was pretty much a failure at everything she did.
Yup. She took advantage of Dan in every definition of the word. And when she'd bled him dry, she discarded him like yesterday's trash. I'm so glad she's where she belongs now.
Just think, if Nancy hadn't taken that cooking class on a whim, this man would still be alive today. She broke up his marriage to his son's mother because she doesn't care whose lives she ruins, all that matters to her is getting what she wants. I'm glad she's going to spend the rest of her miserable life in prison.
Because she's inept at everything she does. She failed as a lawyer, failed as an entrepreneur, failed as an author, and failed as a decent human being.
Me, too. My own mother is nothing like her. Dan sounds like he was a bit difficult to live with, slobs and hoarders often are, but at his core he was a good person. Nancy robbed the world of an incredible human being, and the world is darker for not having him in it.
he wasn't a slob or a hoarder. he had more interests and hobbies than most people. he had all the things that go along with his interests. nancy was a lazy jerk who did nothing so she didn't like his stuff.
Wonderful people both of them .Very careful.even Jack .with his ironic humour Yet they still manage to imply a deep distrust & lack.if warmth for Nancy .It so.obviously was a " marriage " in name only unlike this Couple whose relationship of two.Very different individuals is so clearly also a meeting of equals .Reminds me if my own & my.late Husbands , Parents & my marriage .Why of why did that multi talented man stay with her .THAT is a lesson.for anyone who knows their .marriage is dead or dying to LEAVE .......nasty woman , really nasty .
@@sleuththewild Evidently in the beginning of their "marriage" she was more successful with $ and put down the larger sum when purchasing their home... i think she purposefully didn't file those papers because she wanted to be able to take the entire thing in the event they split up. Narcissists are the nastiest, most inauthentic & awful humans walking the planet.
@@sleuththewild Apparently he wasn't aware of that. Because Dan left all the paperwork and bill paying to Nancy (she demanded it cuz she thought she was smarter than Dan and therefore wouldn't let him handle the finances), she flat out neglected to do a lot of vital things, from paying the mortgage to paying her employees, to applying for her marriage license. Nancy catching it is more proof of her guilt. She was looking for their legal marriage license so she could be sure she'd get all the benefits after his death.
Why are we hearing so much about how dangerous mushroom hunting is? Dan wasn't killed while mushroom hunting and he didn't get a gun for mushroom hunting.
What an amazingly sweet and kind man Dan's father is. How sad that Dan picked the Wrong Wife, and because of his kindness he stayed with her despite her being a sociopath. His family is so kind, and that evil woman fooled them all! May his parents find peace in their life.💞🙏
I don’t get it, I guess getting money from your parents - I mean you’re 60, they are 80+ - you are still getting money from your parents? As an orphan, like wow!
Some parents help their children for LIFE. The fact that he then turned around and gave money to his other sons to make it fair says a lot about how much these people loved their children. Their age doesn't matter.
What else do you expect from a woman who can't cook, defrauds both customers and employees alike, and thinks she's smarter than everyone else so feels she doesn't have to answer to anyone?
The Swede wants to know: At 1:29:39 what does he mean when he says "There were no reason I had to draw a conclusion.."? Did he think/know Dan slept downstairs, or did he not care where they slept? I just can't make sense of that statement
How much bulk spices, flour etc .. how much alcohol and who bought what... All this stuff about cooking school and supplies has nothing to do with the case, rhis is is all a waste of time to convolute the jury's facts 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Nancy never took care of the chickens as a matter of fact she really never did anything… so infuriating… feel bad for Dan that he met this evil wicked animal 🦓! A Lazy Money & Coffee driven monster! Gross 🤮
He’s dad is so funny and so adorable god bless him no wonder he’s wife was all those years with him because he so funny state attorney loved him i laughed with the state attorneys and everyone but I bet the defense didn’t cold
It disgusting to treat this man who out lived he son by the defense I think both defense are heartless And to top off she was seen around he’s Jon knew how to get she probably was checking to if they had cameras left her phone ooh please
No Prius looks like a Toyota van..so more worthless questioning. Chickens? Were there feathers at the murder scene? This case is a good example of ineffective counsel on both sides of the isle…
There were reasons for all this questioning , nancys lies about finances and that Dan wanted to sell the house and retire . Lies about their relationship etc etc .
I don’t believe for one minute that she’s guilty.. I feel bad that she is deemed guilty before her trial. It saddens me that our society is so pessimistic! She’s being tried off of a theory not real evidence or actual facts. No one really truly knows how one acts or grieves over such a loss of this kind unless you have personally gone through it! And even then, no two people grieve alike. My sister in law didn’t seem hurt or fazed by my brother’s death it took for her until the birth of a baby w/ her second husband is when it hit her! 17 years later she still visits his grave on his birthday, Christmas, Father’s Day and Mother’s Day! So what she has piercing eyes! And so what she wrote a book about killing your husband. She sounds more like someone that’s easy to frame
Well, it's not her reaction that people perceived - that doesn't prove anything, of course. Many of us are watching the entire trial day by day. Yes, the case is circumstantial except, video shows she was in proximity (twice) of the scene of the crime right when it happened. And, she lied about it after wards. Also lied about going to Starbucks. 'She was in bed all morning, writing". Also, their financial situation was dire and, looking how she paid the equally expensive life insurance premiums, rather than pay the mortgage, is pretty strong motive. Also, it's obvious she was planning this 6 months in advance when she bought the ghost gun and gun.
Are you serious? The evidence points to her guilt. Her testimony points to her guilt. Yes, the evidence is largely circumstantial, but that spare missing slide and barrel are concrete.
Why killing of Dan? Dan was described as kind and caring; no one says anything negative about Dan. So why kill him? Well I think Dan assisted the Spanish lady that was in his class. I think the relationship grew and they were having an affair. Nancy found out and this is shown in that the wY NANCY TREATED THE SPANISH GIRL voiding her.so Dan stepped out of the marriage with the Spanish girl. Nancy shows her dislike and I think the reason was that he was unfaithfful
He wasn’t having an affair , Nancy is just a spiteful person who hated that this student tried to save Dans life and looked like a better person than her and she hated that she had more genuine emotion for his loss than she did . Dan was a decent man and Nancy didn’t deserve him .
because Narcissists don't develop a genuine attachment to people,. but unfortunately, are extremely effective at roping them into relationships, then Using their intimate relationships like Vampires sucking blood. they're legitimately evil, and she is one
What the hell is the MATTER with you? She wasn't even in his class! How can you accuse someone of infidelity with absolutely zero evidence? You're just as judgmental and haughty as Nancy here, just like her you think you're smarter than everyone else who disagrees with you, too.
