Have a pair of these linking two of our top stations at work tem-permanently... They work great, we got a pair of gen 2's. They're indoors through 2 windows with moving carriers passing through the line of sight, and yet our VoIP phones are working just fine. Not ideal of course, but we had lightning blow up ( seriously, weld spatter on the metal enclosure) the buried cat 6 that someone decided to trench 8 years ago over fiber... Work great in sub optimal conditions, poor line of sight, 100+km/h blizzards going strong for 8 months now.

I've been using two of these since beta, so about a year, to get internet out to the garage. Had one brick randomly, but Ubiquiti took care of the replacement. Not sure how you got your signal down to 40 dBm. Mine are ~20 feet apart and screaming at 30 dBm with everything turned down as low as it goes.

Nice video! Keep up the good work! :D I have some questions to you because I want to setup a wireless radio link over a distance of 2.2km The problem is that there are 5-10 treetops between the two antennas. I am looking for the highest possible bandwidth on the link, but the most important thing is that it is stable and will work all the time. The mast the equipment are going to be installed on is around 20m high; therefore, low wind load is important. The two options I have found to be most suitable are: Ubiquiti NanoStation M2 2.4GHz or Ubiquiti NanoBeam AC GEN2. What do you think about it? Therefore, my question is really which antenna should I choose. As I see it, Ubiquiti NanoBeam AC GEN2 (5GHz) will have far better performance if it works with 5-10 tree peaks in between. Ubiquiti NanoStation M2 2.4GHz will probably work regardless of due to lower frequency, but at lower speed. Alternatively, is there any other alternatives I should take a look at? As the situation is now I don’t have internet access to my house….

Do I have to buy 2 or does IT work with a FritzBox (Router) as Transmitter and the NanoBeam as Reciever?

I just installed these yesterday, one on my barn (STation) and one on my house (Remote). I had to mount my Starlink Internet Dish on my barn as it has zero obstructions so it is my main location for the internet with the router installed in my tack room. These Ubiquiti units are now streaming my network and internet to my house on the 60Mhz setting at a 420Mbps link! I'm seeing a theoretical connection of about 250Mbps sustained easily! These sure did meet my expectations! My distance is buggy LOL..it's showing 0.00 inches or millimeters...whatever.
@flyingblogger280
@flyingblogger280 3 года назад
How much wildlife are you killing with this? You know they are not your usual 4 watt router. You are probably frying yourself, too. The only difference is that you deserve it. Too bad about any animals in the barn. Maybe you should get an emf meter and take a look. But that Starlink maybe will not be readable. I think they are probably frying your with 12 GHz or so. Fool.

Do trees mess with the signal What are the biggest issues with these units. on a large farm. I live in an area that is around 90 plus degrees during the day and up to 105 during the day. Does heavy rain cause issues. or high winds all the time.

I have these on 300meter link and can do max 210Mbps what do I do wrong. Must be the alignment for this perfect on such short range? I remember I set it on eye started with 40Mhz channel width and low power. Finished with high power and 80Mhz channel. My results are not very bad but I expected to reach 300-400mbps I see it is possible. But how? Many people struggle with speeds lower than me.

Would this work though some trees? About 10 trees, has line of sight during winter when leaves fall, but not during summer.
@techmaster170
@techmaster170 3 года назад
It possibly could, but dont know how strong the signal would be. If you have to pass through some trees. I'd try looking into one that uses a lower frequency range. 5Ghz radio doesn't do a very good job at passing through objects. 2.4Ghz does an even better job at passing through objects. And if you are not looking for the absolute fastest speed, you can get these devices that operate in the 900Mhz range which will pass through objects rather well. I watched a video earlier where a guy used some that were 900Mhz and it was going through a bunch of trees and passing through his house as a test.

with 8-16 cameras @ 1080 - 1440p and wifi wouldn't it be easy to saturate 450mbps? are there more robust or 10g options?
@LAWRENCESYSTEMS

If it required over 450 for 1080, nextflix would not work, a 1080 camera at max frame uses about 8 Mbps

Maybe forgot to carry the 00’s in your estimate, 8-16 so I’ll split that at 11 cameras all streaming H.264 25fps 1080p is circa 44’000kbps / 44Mbps

What these people are not telling you is that these radios are for transmission lines and they have way more power that exposes you to excessive levels of radiofrequency/microwave radiation. Do not use these without getting an EMF meter to check your exposures. Wireless speed kills. Run the fiber.
