Narcissism=Toxic Masculinity, Capitalism? 

I want this to change. It's really hard to live in the present when no one is there with you.

This video is surprisingly eye-opening, especially being only about 20 minutes long. Far more intelligent than most on toxic masculinity, capitalism, the attention economy, etc.

Bread and circuses.. within this paradigm.. as attention is currency and people have become commodities.. the culture of ghosting people makes sense. You don't say goodbye to your toaster oven when you're done using it, unless perhaps you have psychological issues.

Sam, I love so much whenever I see people trying to call your credentials into question, when you probably would be the first to claim that credentials in themselves are not of any inherent value. Your knowledge of every subject you speak of, from psychology to sociology, philosophy, economics, physics, biology is more in-depth than most of the people who make up the elite of each of those disciplines. Who cares about the letters after your name or your titles past and present, when everything you say is well-founded well-argued, and exceptionally clearly stated. Every area of scholarship that I can make any claim of expertise in, whenever you touch upon them, everything you say is accurate, and your contributions, such as relating one thing to another, etc., are invariably insightful and soundly based. You sir are a genuine treasure and a credit to academia--which is itself a part of our society that is rapidly consuming itself in its pertually reinforced absurity.

Interesting topic will keep to watch again. I was confused at the title. Aggression and the need to control are not just male trait. IMHO any sex can be toxic. Any religion. Any 'club'. Cannot wait to listen to again.

I believe there is both healthy and unhealthy competition. Lets not forget that all of us have a lot of commodities and necessities because of that.

This is a bit of a tangent: Marxists (as opposed to the woke) often say that even anti-capitalism is a symptom of capitalism, which capitalism itself is willing and able to commodify. This is true to some extent. There are lots of woke people who think an anime like 'One Piece' is political because it depicts politics. So they think watching a cartoon or buying a toy from that cartoon is a political action. They think their manchild consumerism is anticapitalist because they can interpret the cartoon as being anticapitalist. But I think the libertarians might be right and we don't actually live under capitalism. Mussolini's concept of corporatism (which would be more necessary for the arrival of his fascist vision than any one dictator) is not as far off as one would think from what we now have in the U.S. For that vision to be implemented in America, we'd first need to have all the big corporations in bed with the most powerful party. 😅 All of our book publishers, movie studios, journalism, tech companies, and so on have been unified into a single point of failure. 'Cancel Culture' has more to do with these corporate entities being in bed with the state than one might imagine. Power is more concentrated in fewer hands. It's not really the fault of woke college kids. 😅 Government sponsored NGOs coerce advertisers to coerce corporations. The Culture War has less to do with Culture than one would think. 😅

Not sure if my boyfriend is a narcissist but the relationship has been damaging to be in. He sent me a message a while back saying he loved me more and more each day. Then a few days later when I stated it bothered me that he kept an old girlfriends number, he became enraged and said if I were a man he would knock my teeth out and to leave. I left and then the love bombing starts. Then acts as though it never happened. What a psycho. Another great video, I have watched many of them, thanks for your brilliant insight!

Keep in mind the hormone disruptors in our food, water, and plastics. Add in the stereotypes furthered by TV, movies, and You Tube presenters, it’s a wonder how we can figure out what the heck we are!

I love this!!! With the research I have completed so far, capitalism was seeded in trade, and it grew from that seed into what it is today. The flesh's weakness for addictive stimulus has greatly impacted all systems. I would like to thank you for your part in my journey. I hope to one day meet you, although given the current global climate, once I am in a position to do so, it may not be possible. I would like to put forth toxic femininity... although it would be the polar opposite, and instead of dominance, it would be submissivness. An individual, like me, who has cut themselves off from society for self-preservation, would be considered a toxic trait because in order for society to function, all should be engaged in their societies development. This reaction would be the opposite and equal reaction to toxic masculinity.

So much of what you’re describing in this video reminds me of the dystopian novel “Individutopia”.

I would like to say two things, I hope you have the opportunity to read them: 1) I am very interested in the topic of the connection between philosophy (and with it political and social movements) and psychology. For a long time I have felt and noticed parallels between the psychology of the individual and the psychology of society. It seems to me that in modern practical psychiatry and the science of psychology in general, this relationship is revealed and studied insufficiently. I think that serious research at the intersection of philosophy/sociology/economics/political science/aesthetics (like yours) can significantly advance the understanding of how to “improve” the psyche of modern man and society 2) thank you again for your video and I would really like to see more of the same kind of research on this topic. P.S. sorry for bad english :)

There are two questions I really want to ask you, and I fully understand if you don't have the time answer them... 1) Do you believe there is a more superior economic system than Capitalism? If so what is it called and how does it work? also 2) Do you believe that our current Anglo Saxon Capitalist system could go back to its former golden days if the west just start valuing home and family again and have more children?
