I'm amazed how clean my tractor engine runs even though it's a new tractor a diesel is a diesel the oil doesn't stay clear for long turns black pretty quick but after 50hrs the oil is clean as a whistle so well done kioti it's a lovely engine 2.4 turbo 😍
My oil stays black. You must have a great filter system. Can't beat a good old diesel motor soon to be out lawed if the green brigade gets their way. Keep on trucking buddy.
Hi, I have the same engine and slip a short length of water hose over the oil drain pump outlet and put that into the empty container. enjoyed the vlog very much over coffee and toast, cheers.
Never in a million years did I ever think I'd say how relaxing I found that engine service. It took me right back to when I was a girl watching my dad and brothers working on their cars. I don't own a boat ... yet, but I plan to soon, so I'm watching and learning. Lovely clean job. Thanks

Thanks for the explanatory captions. I think the best qualification for a narrowboater is motorbike mechanic. That rules me out btw. I'm a lifelong gongoozler.
Nice one Will that was a good 38 mins to watch I was well into it am defo going to put vas on mi terminals in mi car put a new battery on in May and mi terminals were all mest up I cleaned them off so now I will do that good tip. Just a suggestion Will. Phil here from NZ. When pumping out your engine oil, fit some rubber hose onto the outlet pipe and into your drain tray/container. Should prevent the oil plashing and and annoying clean up. Otherwise a great vlog. must be backbreaking getting into your engine bay. Love your adventures.
That's a great idea Phil i will next time. it is hard getting to the prop and gearbox etc. worth the effort. Can't beat a good old engine service Phil. You take care..

Hi will. Back in the 70s got given a good tip with desiels while a apprentice with BL. To add a little bit 2 stroke oil in with fuel at times . It helps lubricates valve stems. Does the trick on certain tractor units that tend to suffer to valves sticking and popping if used on idle for extended periods.
@@NarrowboatWill we used to add deisel flow into the fuel but we don't now du to the fact we don't get freezing winters no more. I went over to Atkinson. Lovely engines. Spent years overhauling them. Today's Scania and Volvo's are superb power units. Those Kabota engines like yours are brill little things. Mates got a Kabota tractor. Never gives trouble
Another good video, thanks Will. I have the same type of engine in my boat and it's always good to see how others service their engines. The bits about checking the batteries was very useful for me as that is something I haven't checked on my boat yet - something for next time I'm aboard.

Yeah I know but they boil dry really quick when the sun comes out. So I put extra in. I don't think that will harm them. Still going strong and I bought them second hand 4 years ago. Cheers
Will, next time you are going to change the engine oil put the collector bottle the other way around with the inlet closer to the output of the little pump, and attach a piece of hose onto the outlet pipe of the pump and put it into the bottle that way when you get to the end of pumping out the oil it won't splatter everywhere and you won't have to try and wipe the oil off the top side of the collection bottle, it will make it a whole lot less messy.
I like to use a bit of hose, connected to the oil pump out and poke that into the hole for my oil collector. Saves all the spraying when it starts to get empty. Just a little top tip 👍👍
@@NarrowboatWill the red antifreeze from Halfords will mix with anything and it is biodegradable. I use to work with the stuff as a mechanic for donkeys years. When you do a coolant change next. Go over to the Halford red. It also works for twice as long so also cheaper in the long run. Check it out when you next see a Halford store.
Hi will, what a brilliant video, very informative and interesting, when topping up batteries I find a syringe works better because you can see what you are doing, after how many hours do you do a service, filters etc.
That syringe is a good idea. I service every 250 hours David. Every third service i change the air filter every second service change the fuel filter but i tend to change the gear oil every time. Thanks for watching.
Will why don’t you put some tube over the oil pump out and lead it to the drain can on top of the motor then it’s level and no messing about,great videos tho..

Overcharging by the alternator encourages the battery acid to release more corrosive hydrogen gas than is normal or safe. Usually forming crystals on the positive terminals. Not a big problem providing you check and maintain the batteries regularly and clean the posts etc and smear with vaseline like you did. Greasy fumbs up Will.

Hi Will have you sorted your blacking as yet, as I said Blackthorn Marina is on the Nene and you can stay on your boat there. You can purchase the materials here if you need to and plenty of shops near by. I believe the prices for taking your boat out of the water are the best in the area. I believe my mate Stephen also sent you details, you can also fill up with fuel. There is also a few followers here that would make you very welcome but don’t wear your wig and tights you may get a ladder 😅😅😅😅😅 And if you need to leave your boat here for a short while it’s all secure Let me know what you think

I was coming over the Nene this week but boaters over here tell me to get off it by end of October. Now My plans have changed and i've just lost half my income. So it looks like i'm staying here but getting to that marina asap. I'm sure my boat will last till then. Watch my next vlog i show everyone my hull Phil. Oooh don't titter Mrs..Ha ha
