So acording to the Naruto wiki on Yamato naruto.fandom.com/wiki/Yamato: Yamato (at age 6) was one of 60 who were injected with the First Hokage's DNA in the hopes that they could replicate the First's ability to use Wood Release. Yamato was the only survivor. Definition of descendant: A descendant, in legal usage, is a blood relative in the direct line of descent - the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. of a person. Definition of clone: An organism or cell, or group of organisms or cells, produced asexually from one ancestor or stock, to which they are genetically identical. So from this we can summarise that Yamato is neither a descendant or a clone, but in fact just a person who had DNA injected into him when he was 6. The show refers to him as a clone because that is the closest way of describing his relationship to the first hokage. Tsunade is a descendant of the first hokage, and yamato is not, and they are definitely NOT related. So I'd say the correct term is that Yamato is "genetically modified" to be like the first hokage, not a clone or descendant, and certainly not as powerful.

He made Hiruzen 3rd Hokage cause he was going to be the bait against the Hidden cloud village high skilled tracking unit I think it was called. And the leader of that group was Kinkaku and Ginkaku. Technically Yamato was not born asexual or created, if I'm not mistaken, in a filler it is said that Yamato was kidnapped along with several children by Orochi for his experiments (All died except Yamato), that's why The Third Hokage and the Anbus went to investigate his lair as there were many reports and suspicions of Orochi. That is also why Orochimaru left the village since they had discovered him. Also, asexuality is not the same in humans; in animals it is when an organism reproduces itself by dividing its cells creating an exact copy, while in humans it is the absence or little sexual attraction. But I'm not 100% sure if he's a clone lol.

Honestly, Yamato is more a mutant than a clone at least according to Wikipedia: "In biology and especially genetics, a mutant is an organism or a new genetic character arising or resulting from an instance of mutation, which is generally an alteration of the DNA sequence of the genome or chromosome of an organism."

When the hashirama cells that were injected and Yamato lived, he now had the ability to use wood style. Therefore the wood style was cloned for Yamato to be able to use but not yamato himself. They consider him a clone because they don't want anyone knowing orochimaru and danzo put cells into a living being so other nations wouldn't seek the hashirama cells. That's why they changed his name to Yamato, only Kakashi and a select few know who he really is. That's why he worked for the anbu so they could keep him hidden. Danzo had the cells in his arm that had all the eyes in it too

Yamato himself originally is not a clone. Hashirama cells were cloned and put into Yamato therefore making his genetic make up cloned. Which turns him into a clone.

Robs right on this one. Yamato was born from a mother and father. In order to be a clone you have to be formed asexually with the exact genetic sequencing as the original. You can’t “become a clone” you are either created as one or you’re not one. He has cloned cells produced from Hashirama but that doesn’t make him a clone. He just has extra cloned cells on top of his original. If he was a clone he’d have the same strength level as the Hashirama. If Yamato is a clone then by everyone else’s logic except Robs, Danzo and Obito are as well as they both have Hashirama cells.

So glad you guys and Rob like Onoki, Shikaku and Darui. They are seriously in the top ten minor characters within Naruto. Onoki and Shikaku in particular shine SO WELL in this arc. Also I actually think Rob is right in terms of Yamato being a clone. Technically he isn't a clone since he was created by regular human conception and only had DNA injected into him. By the time the DNA was put into him Yamato was for lack of a better word already a regular human. Orochimaru had kidnapped him as a baby among many others. He's basically more a successful experiment than an actual clone. I think when the characters refer to him as a "clone" they are only specifically referring to him having the same capabilities as the First Hokage.

Hate to say guys in this case Rob is right. A clone is someone who is artificially created from a piece of someone's DNA. An example is the zetsu's are creatures who are created from the DNA of the first hokage, therefore that makes them a clone. Yamato started out being a human and infused with DNA from the first hokage so that's a completely different case.
