@@R4NDOMUS3RNAME Yeah I figured that out awhile back. This freestyle instrumental got me into listening to more Eric B & Rakim. & since then Rakim has become one of my favorite rappers of all time.
@@donovan6482 to an expert ear yes, but honestly the only difference from vinyl and audio is that there’s a warmth to the music, it sounds more raw, when it comes to Hip Hop, I believe rap with soul beats and old boom Bap beats sound better on Vinyls. But most of it all sounds the same
@@clos1203 lol Nas ain't bite rhymes from Rakim, and his inspiration to that style of rapping and creating is called being conscious and read. The dropping jewels part for all you slowtards that cant connect the messages cause your ears cant see the shine.
@@amour_nyla mile? By an entire continent. And that's more a testament on Nas than it is a diss towards Jay who's dope in his own right. Nas is just timeless and on another creative level.
Nah. Nas is a sometimes rhymer. He done had his times, but he's been mad inconsistent. When is Jay not on point?? I will give it up to Nas on this joint though. One of the tightest verses I've heard from him.
"Rip the Freeway, shoot through Memphis with MoneyBags Stop in Philly, order cheese steaks and eat Beans fast And bring it back up top, remove the fake king of New York" damn, the greatest diss in history
Ppl overlook this one. This was the warning a shot. It’s also the reason for the 3rd verse on “Takeover”, but we all know how this ended. Bottom line, Nas’ wordplay on THIS was elite!!!!
@@madarakanzuki4671 Cam'ron? Really? Cam'ron doesn't even have anything on Jay Z. Forget Cam'ron B. Ma$e just killed dude easily. Cam was only good toe when he was with Big L.
@@LuisMartinez-rt8ul I'm speaking simply on the beef Era Camron Violated Nas. You must not heard camron hate me now freestyle. Nas response was what exactly and he started that Beef🤔
@@madarakanzuki4671 Cam'ron violated Nas? Man Cam did not violate anyone. Dude got slaughtered by Mase, Jay Z killed him as well and Nas really didn't pay attention to Cam like that. I know I wouldn't have either. Again it's my opinion and I do respect yours as we both like hip hop but I'm just not feeling Cam. I just liked him in Children of the Korn.
I’m from Brooklyn, born and raised and I just say it, Nas murdered Jay-Z. Point blank, plain and simple! Even though Nas is my favorite rapper of all-time and I think he’s the best rapper of all time, I have to give all do props to Big also. They are 1 and 1a, in anyway you want to see it. Nas and Big forever, NYC stand the fuck up!
Yeap. I usually have Nas as my number 1, Big as my number 2 but, sometimes those positions flip. I’ll put Big at number 1 and Nas at 2. Both those dudes are obviously ill. Rest In Peace Big.
Bro this was eerie I’m born raised in BK in 1970 and Same, Nas 1 , Big 1A,,, both incredible,,,,, Nas just genius STILL Doin it,,,,,Biggie just Unmatched and His Music Bangs Still,,,,,Really been playing his You Can’t Stop the Reign verse last few Months it’s Flawless and Nas w HitBoy are just Magical🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Nas is EASILY the best to ever do it. This is coming from a dude who's seen all the great eras of hip hop and a certified born and bred hip hop head. When you factor in creativity, skills, lyricism, classic albums and songs, career accomplishments (artistically), and overall status, Nas is undoubtedly the best MC to bless a mic. All due respect to the others that merit consideration.
@J Crash Rakim is in my top 3 for sure. But he just doesn't have Nas' longevity. But Ra changed the game forever and is probably the biggest reason we had a hip hop golden age that ran from '87-'97.
well you're forgetting quite a few names dont get me wrong, I absolutely love Nas, but honestly, calling him the best feels off when there are atleast a few names who tie him that are just as timeless: Prodigy MF DOOM Biggie (If you forget the era of rap he's attached to for a moment and just listen to how he sounds on a good bunch of his lesser known stuff, you'd agree with me on this one) Guru, or Gang Starr as a whole As much as I hate to admit it, Eminem's old stuff sounds modern. I could go on and on really
@@FalB27 I can safely say Nas is the best from everything and everyone I've heard. And I love MF Doom (underground rap GOAT IMO). I think Biggie is bar for bar the most talented and complete MC in rap history but the reason I put Nas ahead is because of his range of topics. That said, I think Biggie was on his way towards making more music of substance as he matured and def could've been ahead of Nas.
I'll keep saying it. Jay Z had to drop takeover the way he did. Nas set the standard with this diss. He had to maintain it if he wanted to box with Nas. Takeover was a great diss it would've destroyed many careers but Nas is Nas.
" clothes fit me like a crime boss the medicine man" sick. Since illmatic it was written I am nastradamus that the answer to the puzzle I gave u now heres the promise... So many quotables in this short track
Rip the Freeway, shoot through Memphis with money bags/ Stop in Philly order cheese steaks and eat Beanz fast/ And bring it back up top remove the fake king of new york/ You show off I count dough off when you sampled my voice/
Ether was killer but this is what a real Mc is about free styling over Rakim beat...that’s over the top. All Jay-Z’s diss songs about NaS not even come close to this #NaS is the greatest my #1 Mc 🇵🇷🎤🔊🎧
I will forever remember this time as the era I fell in love with hip hop. Witnessing this battle live is one of my life’s greatest treasures. Nas the true king.
Many people didn't catch this line 1:52 He said stillmatic it was written nastrodamous I am the illmatic That was all his albums he was able to even make into a bar
Came back here after MC serch said he's doesn't own Nas publishing and he owns 50% of Jay-Z publishing on the Dead Presidents song "I count dough when you sampled my voice I rule you"
2024 these youngins out here putting weak out diss tracks. This is how it’s done. This was only played a few times on the radio back then, but when it was first played. The whole city stopped.
Nas Predicted The Future In This Diss. He Mentioned “Memphis And Money Bags 💰” … And The Newer Artist “Money 💰 Bag Yo” Is From Memphis 💯 … Just Take A Sec And Think 💭 About It 🤔 … #CatchemStreetz #SinAndMark #ImOptimusCmD #SinAndMarkEntertainment 🌍
I always wondered what the "difficult test" on the stillmatic cover was. Someone should ask Nas about that? I wonder if it was just a line or there was really some "hidden message" there.Cuz there is like a pigeon next to him. Its kind of an interesting cover.
An interviewer asked Nas about the pigeon next to him on the cover and I've copied what Nas said below - I just love birds. It’s funny how I love birds. The way they see the world is like, not even dealing with the bullshit we dealing with. We deal with money and cars and smog and pollution and drugs. You know, walking the streets. It’s like being in the water for fish. The difference between them and fish, being in the sky they can fly and look at the world without dealing with our bullshit. Matter of fact they shit on us. So the way they look at things, I really admire them. It represents life also. On the 'Stillmatic' album cover I needed some life-a plant, a tree. The skys probably looking dark as it's NYC post 9/11
Jay z came into game... hes always a hustler first.. but dont get it twisted.. Hov is a MONSTER with the bars!!! He could have dropped 12 reasonable doubts... but he "dumbed down for the audience".... Nas should have done the rap battle putting his career on the line..
J has never done anything original and that's just facts, started off using Jaz O style then jumped on Nas/ Big L/ Kool G's swag from 95. Now he trying to rap like Tweli and Common used to. He's dope but he's always been a trend hopper not a real leader and innovator.
I've been saying this & people still sleep on this. What I don't like is that Jay tries to act like he came up with it all & all his stans think he did too. Nas is a true student of the game & learned from & always humbly paid homage to his pears Rakim, Kool G Rap, Slick Rick, KRS plus he never stole flows & styles & always stayed true to himself. Hate to even mention this name amongst greats But Drake has been doing the exact same as Jay & his stans call him goat too. Both very un-original & very much trend hoppers that loose a lot of respect from me when it comes to talking about the best or top tier rappers/emcees.
While they riding Nas Trying to boost they career Corny as Corn-mega All you Hip-Home queers The Medicine Man even had a stray for Mega in this masterpiece; I knew he was aiming for legacy with this track. Not Ether. THIS track.
Nas is SO overrated. Jay Z won this battle with the Blueprint 2 diss. Stepped on Nas with real facts. CAN'T YALL SEE THAT HE'S FAKE? THE RAP VERSION OF TD JAKES.🤣🤣🤣
