This is forever one of my favorite Nas songs, it’s not a harder diss than Ether but it’s a better song imo, I could be wrong but I think when it dropped on the radio back in 01 it was a faster version than what you hear here so it went over a lot of casuals heads and didn’t do any real damage, because of that it’s forever under appreciated

Yes Nostradamus was a philosopher but the triple entrendre in that bar was what you stated, they are also the first four albums he dropped 1. Illmatic 2. It Was Written 3. I Am 4. Nastradamus and the last is the way the way they spoke about Nas when his first album dropped as if since Illmatic people were already writing that he was a philosopher like Nostradamus

i remember the summer this freestyle dropped. I was fresh out of middle school, my pops was driving me and cousins to six flags and they played it on the morning show on hot 97 during the drive. I was a nas fan boy and never liked jay z, (now im a big fan) but that was epic and seeing the beef build, waiting for jayz response(takeover)

The Blueprint 2 was a nice diss but it was really already over. Nas never truly responded to it. Last Real Nigga Alive is just a rundown. He didn’t diss, just stated what happened. Jay was still tight off Ether. So he was trying to keep it going. I like BP2 but it just was too little too late. If he had dropped BP2 instead of SupaUgly the I think there would’ve been a serious response from Nas. But it was over and done with.

I believe it started on wax with Bleek dissing Nas on My Mind Right then Nas responded to Bleek with a Eye for an Eye freestyle then the Rocfella and state property camp went on hot 97 and they all started dissing Nas then Nas responded with the Stillmatic freestyle then Jay responded with Takeover then Nas responded with Ether

These "freestyles" are always written and rehearsed. It would be extremely rare for someone to flow for so long and so easily and have it truly be off the dome.

Okay people need to get a clue. Freestyle has two meanings. One type of freestyle is rhyming off the dome. Second type of freestyle is free of song structure, essentially a "loose" verse or set of verses. This clearly is the latter.

He named his first 4 albums in order, so elegantly, and made it make sense. He also told everybody that he owns his publishing shares for Dead Presidents sample of his voice, but the false narrative has always been that Jay-Z didn't pay NaS, that he paid MC Serch. But Serch recently said on several interviews that NaS owns 50% of Dead Presidents Royalties, so in essence he owns a piece of Jay-Z catalogue.

This freestyle 🔥better than either, I still give the edge to Jay in the beef takeover is flawless to me, more if not all facts in his disses, Nas either can be picked apart and I hate that beat, Don’t get it twisted either was a monster when it dropped but don’t hold up overtime imo if you put facts aside both are lyrical monsters and Nas just floats on this beat.
