For those that don’t know, this was filmed in 2010 and aired in 2011. The son is doing better. The CMO of NASCAR who was undercover in the episode is now the President of NASCAR.
@SolomonV NASCAR pays, on average $19.78, and that was before COVID when companies began raising wages to $15/hr like you people demanded. Either you're ignorant or entitled. Or both. I'm going with both.
He is probably in university or college now. This was twelve years, and the 2010 Coke Zero 400. Harvick was in the Shell Pennzoil 29 and won that year.
He was more than grateful with just the helmet…. What a gracious fellow, my heart goes out to him and Daniel family’s. I’m not sure I could compose myself as well as he did, I’m a 40yr old man and I’m wiping the tears from my eyes.. Best of luck..
That struck me too. He was happy for the experience, and oh, a sweet as souvenir for his kid. But then THAT? Damn, man. You could see weight lifted off the man's shoulders, even as he was asking, "Are you serious?" So cool
As a leukemia patient myself, this is amazing. I have great insurance and can afford what the insurance doesn’t cover but so many aren’t as fortunate. This takes a huge burden and stress off of that family.
@@emily3 As a CLL patient, the treatment is an oral pill everyday. Other than the expense, it’s not too bad. Without insurance, the medication is almost $13,000 a month.
@@kevinjones5560 oh my gosh. Thank you for sharing this information with me, I didn’t even know the extent of the cost. That’s very disheartening for those who can’t afford such costs :(
@@emily3 There are plenty of clinical trials where medication is provided for free and if the medication (or treatment) is approved by the FDA, the insurance you have must cover it. My insurance covers it.
@@kevinjones5560 good to hear man, but can i ask a question? the medication you are taking now was part of a cliical trial, and now approved by the FDA, my question is were they testing drugs on you , if any worked and was eventually approved your insurance would have to cover it because it worked on you or is it just because its approved by the FDA(im european im just trying to understand how it works there, i could be 100% wrong). Ive never had leukemia but a childhood friend of mine sadly passed away from it when we were about 13 its been 11 years and i still remember that in order to pay for some of his medical bills his parents were working 2 jobs so he had to stay with his grandma all week exept when 1 of his parents had a day off
When the dad clasped his hands and craned backwards....i broke down and cried.......he just wants to provide light for his son and clearly will give his life to accomplish it
I am not surprised at the generosity shown by NASCAR. Have known 2 people who knew Jim Hunter personally and both related he was a STELLAR human being. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with the wife of the late Archie Blackadar. The original NASCAR Flagman. She gave me one of his black & white striped NASCAR jackets and a striped shirt. Love having it.
I really hope his son Daniel beats this, and gets to enjoy that helmet and the story behind it for many decades. As for his Dad, clearly a great guy and wtg Nascar for stepping up and helping. Very moving whatching this one.
I welled up with tears. My daughter had a stroke at 6 followed by 2 EDAMs brain surgeries. We were lucky to have a Cadillac health care plan. We had a group of friends offer to hold a benefit at church to help cover costs. It meant the world to us but we asked instead that they donate money to the hospital. We were so blessed. This man is blessed.
I love that he shows him the helmet first, and the guy is so happy for his son to receive something so nice. Then the boss is just like “oh hey one other thing,”
As a Leukemia surviour, golly did this bring tears to my eyes. Wishing and praying for young Daniel as he fights the same cancer I did, and my heartfelt thanks to the CEO/President who has committed to standing beside this family as they go through this.
I have to ask. Do your friends make fun of you about it? My best friend of almost 2 decades had leukemia as a kid, and people freak out when I start asking him why he hasn't gotten super powers yet after all the chemical steroid boosts he got. He thinks it's funny at least.
@@AKinkySasquatch Haha! No, my friends never really joke about it unless I make a joke first. I was diagnosed the summer after high school, so it also could be that everyone’s a bit more mature in general. In university I would joke about it occasionally, but tried to limit that because I didn’t want to be an attention-seeker. But I usually don’t mind the few jokes that have happened, and I personally joke about it occasionally(I love dark humour).
This undercover boss show is Great ....Its so nice to see bosses experiencing the real workers and then the way they reward them is totally awesome they are so enerous with a personalized gift to an unexpected worker
I’m crying with you. I know how expensive medical costs are as I also have cancer. $48,000 for a bag of chemo. Thank God for insurance, but there are always costs that insurance doesn’t cover. What a wonderful company to work for and the compassion they show is heart warming.❤️
@Taylor Greene Medical costs have gotten crazy! Most hospitals can forgive some of the debt, not all of it though. It may be worth asking your acquaintance to call the hospital and asking them to forgive part of the costs due to no insurance. We also had a family friend who didn’t have insurance but had a high hospital bill due to a heart condition. They called and the hospital took off about 1/2 of the costs. I hope your acquaintance is doing well now.😊
As a parent it is almost impossible to watch this and not cry . . two men who are in different positions in life but both great Dads connecting over their love of their children xx
WOW! All of these episodes are amazing but this was one of the tear jerkers. The guy’s shocked repeated, “Really?” like it was too much to process, was so heartwarming.
that was genuine surprise when he heard they'd pay for any out of pocket expenses. he's likely had to make some pretty tough decisions regarding his child's care and w/ that one gesture alone, any and all future compromises were taken completely off the table. must have been a huge weight to take off someone's shoulders
Unless you have watched a child and their family go through cancer treatments for years this boss may not truly realize the gift that he has given or the burden he has lifted. Bless him and God bless Daniel and his family.
What chills me is that Americans have to pay for their medical care even under these life threatening circumstances. I was moved to tears by NASCAR stepping up to pay for the leukaemia treatments. ❤
I was overwhelmed myself & I'm a stranger looking in. It is rare that a company is this generous & caring. On the contrary some companies will find any excuse to fire employees in crisis rather than help. I hope his son makes a full recovery. The family is in my prayers
As an Australian watching this.. I have to keep reminding myself that in the USA if your child gets sick, you may have to pay for treatment. You may end up with crippling debt. I can’t imagine being in such a terrible situation with a sick child, and then have to worry about paying for treatment!! I am sooooooo thankful that I live here. Delivering babies, sick children, car accidents, cancer treatment, etc etc.. all covered by our universal healthcare. This was a wonderful story. 🐨🐨❤️
Lol USA isn’t like that at all. We have the best hospitals and we don’t wait in line for weeks like y’all do. Only people who complain are jobless losers who get a couple hundred dollar bill for not having insurance
I'm here in the uk and stumbled upon this video, it hit me right in the ticker! So from one car guy to another I salute you sir for being such a great boss and also I'd like to wish that man and his son the best of futures!!
God bless you sir for doing that for this family. I'm crying as I'm watching you've touched a lot of hearts and you've shown yours ♥️♥️♥️, most importantly you've helped this family who's so desperately needs it. The last thing these folks need to worry about is paying for treatments for their son's cancer. Thank you so much that means a lot and so many levels and it shows who You are
Well done to all involved, as a fellow cancer patient I can appreciate how relieving some of the every day burdens help you to stay strong to fight the disease! May your God go with you 🙏.
My best friend died from leukemia when we were 10 years of age. This video really hit home and brought tears to my eyes. What a generous and beautiful thing to do
Daniel is lucky to have a brilliant man like this man to call his own Dad. I am sincerely hoping Daniel gets through this health battle soon. Take care from Australia mate.🐨💙 👍🐨
"And God is faithful, he will not let you be tempted, beyond what you cam bare, but when you are tempted, he will always provide a way out, so that you can stand up under it..."
My Aunt on my mom's side of the family is a breast cancer survivor. You have no idea the toll cancer has on everyone unless you've been in the spot. That was so incredibly generous of the CEO.
His facial expression after hearing everything will get paid for almost made me cry, he was at such a confusion & lose of words. Him saying really spoke a lot
Glen you deserve it.Respect you.God blessed you Daniel and your family.Your the best Dad.Go Glen!!!.Thank you Undercover and your team for doing this to Mr.Glen and all people you guys help.
Darn this hits in the heart but a good feel. Because i had cancer twice and beat it twice. Nascar is doing good on this. I dont cry much but damm i am. I hope the son get treated ❤️👊🏼💪🙏🏼
@@LindyKnight weed helped me thru the pain of chemotherapy i have a rare kidney disease which causes cancer im good for now. tried cbd oil to me it didn’t help me as much as the thc did.
I can understand what you are saying. But is this really the place to say it?.... Why not just celebrate something good that happened to someone who is in a tough situation?
Suavage-well, I actually think it’s more important to say it here. Due to the positivity in this video, people forget that this is a very common thing in the USA; people living pay check to pay check, sometimes having two jobs, not being able to pay for proper schooling or for medical bills.
