@@Chirp_Fest they will notice one day or another, they will make the cars faster but sadly we aren’t going to be safe and fast till someone either dies or gets injured. They changed the package after Newman’s crash and all the improvements after sales wreck so we will after a while have fast cars but the package will change multiple times.

@@gavinfremouw8374 I mean how much safer do you want? We had 850hp in Gen 6. These next Gen cars have a decent amount of safety upgrades. Also, why would you even expect a death? These cars have gotten so much safer with each generation since 2001.

Chuck's Pulling Videos, 1997 NASCAR HP was 750 and cars weighed 3400 pounds. Gen-7 cars are 670 HP and weigh 3200 pounds.

Honestly it was fine the way it was. All it needed was a new asphalt surface and it would be fast again.

Homestead was a flat track, but that as close you can get. Texas reduced banking, so did Bristol I think. I always thought Bristol had 32 degrees banking. And what about Dover when it went to concrete surface, what happened to banking?

They only narrowed the track because they physically had to. They knew that wanted to increase the banking, and they didn’t want to move the walls. So let’s think for a second about what that means and how it’s achieved. If the wall isn’t moving and you’re increasing the banking, the track is going to get narrower.

They will race at 510. The whole point of this reconfiguration is to create pack racing. Modern pack racing is awful. They run single file for 475 miles, then destroy all the cars at the end. With the parts shortage, the Cup teams cannot afford to destroy cars just for the sake of pack racing.

Then we'd be able to determine lap times and deduce which rules package they're running.

@@TheSteve1175 Unfortunately you're very confused or uninformed. The top layer is sealed asphalt - just like any other asphalt racetrack on earth. Sealed asphalt is still porous/permeable. The drainage layer is several layers below this. SMI have openly published this information (with detailed diagrams) and it is a matter of public record. If I may suggest, you may want to pay closer attention to things and apply logical thinking more vigorously going forward when consuming information. Have a blessed day.

I get it that beat up circuits aren't aesthetically pleasing, but they produce the best racings and place a higher premium on driving skills. This looks like they've made a 3 groove track into a single groove track. Hope I'm wrong.

We've had plenty of case studies with the other repaves and reconfigs over the last 20 years. It will suck.
