My favorite food in the world! After living on 4 continents & traveling to 6, I have several favorite foods, but Padang is my ULTIMATE favorite. I miss it like no other.

All dishes look so fresh and delicious :) Kinda like Dim Sum style then, you just pay what you decide to eat. Nice that all dishes come in small portions so that you can try many kinds! I still remember how to say thank you in Indoenesian, I enjoy this series a lot! x

I watched your India video and now this..When on one side the westerners mock us Asians particularly Indians, Pakistanis,Bangladeshis for eating with our hands, judging all the time without knowing even a dime about our cultures, you sit down and totally mingle up with the food and the tradition associated with it.
There's so many similarities between Filipino and Indonesia dishes, especially my hometown in the Philippines Pampanga so many words that spell and mean the same! I saw a article stating that datus from Indonesia came and settled in the Phillppines pre Spanish colonialism, hopefully I can go to Indonesia and experience and see the essences of my ancestry

I really love nasi padang. I have eaten in Bali, in Jogja and in Malaysia and Singapore too. I miss the taste of the various dishes so much.I live in Europe now and really determined to cook these food myself.

one of his video that i like the most. but that is true when nasi padang becomes of the best food, and as he said that these dishes are deserve placed in top ten around the world. in indonesia everybody can find alot of delicious foods, and nasi padang is almost everywhere in indonesia, so that this could be the food for you to survive mostly everywhere.

this reminds me of my childhood when most of our time we spent family dinner eat out at restauran Padang 😊 I was always excited seeing how the foods delivered with stacking and everything. And it was very hard when our mom warned us to wisely select the food LOL 😂 anyway I watched all your Indonesian videos and you got very great references!

Dear Mark, one of the best nasi padang is located in bandar lampung, which is the southest part of sumatra, the restaurant named begadang.. it only takes 30 mins flight from jakarta... you can contact me if you have time to ga to lampung..

Hi Mark, if you still in Jakarta, i think you should try soto tangkar ( in my opinion it's better than soto betawi ). the best place to get soto tangkar is at Kedai Soto Tangkar & Sate Kuah Daging Sapi H. Diding, Pasar Pagi Lantai Dasar Blok T-28 B & C -Kota, JL. Pasar Pagi. just a suggestion.
I Love Gulai Otak So Much.. when i was a kid my mum always bought it for my dad n i taste it..creamy..gulai..so Delicate.. and it's only available at Big Padang restaurant.. humh.. i want it now hehe

Going to warung padang and i jus t ordered 1 chunk of rendang, 1 padang egg and 2 potato fritter with a lot of rendang sauce all over my rice.. and it tastes like heaven...
I'm so grateful to have Indonesian parents who are originally from Padang, Sumatra. I get to enjoy this food every day while living in Melbourne, Australia. I wish other people could experience the goodness of this food like my friends do that come over for dinner
dear food travelers, i havent try Surya, but i have tried garuda,marco,sederhana,sari bundo, pagi sore , for ayam pop and rendang, nothing beats sari ratu, but you have to go to its outlet which locates in underground car park at Plaza senayan mall. Dont go any other sari ratu outlets as their taste is not as good. and one more thing, you have to go there when the chef is having a good day. coz on a bad day, you will get pretty plain taste , but on a good day you will experience one of the tastiest & best padang food. so it depends on your luck, just dont go there on sunday.
What kind of restaurant is that? The taste is inconsistent and depends on the chef mood? Fiuhhh the shouldn't sell it if they cant cook with consistent taste.
Foods in jakarta still cant be compared to where the foods originally come from. Visit central java if you want original indonesian dishes, more flavor too. just found this channel. You likes rendang, pucuak ubi (the vegetables with red sambal), samba lado ijau (the green sambal), i'm amazed! you sure have a taste, because that dishes is also the most lovable dishes for Minangnese/Padang people. My entire family won't eat if there's no sambal. And rendang is always the reasons all the student got home sick every Ramadhan.
Mark. SURYA is one of the best Padang Restaurant in Jakarta. Located in Baendungan Hilir. Their Rendang is one of the best. Next to it, is my NEW favorite: BOPET MINI, also in Bendungan Hilir, they won some festivals among the Padang restaurants. The other one, you can find it easily all over big cities of Jawa, is the SEDERHANA SA Padang restaurant chain. Alternatives: BUNDO SATI in Surabaya, Sari Ratu in Jakarta, Natrabu in Jakarta. THESE ARE LEGENDS!
This video inspired my to google whether there is nasi padang in the Netherlands. I have to travel for two hours for it, but tomorrow I will eat nasi padang in Den Haag! I read that there are mostly Indonesian people eating in that restaurant, so that is a good sign!
