Having been put into bat, Australia finished Day 1 at 364-2 setting the tone for the rest of the series as they won the Ashes 4-1 😂 The most notorious "we'll have a bowl, thanks"

To be really fair... if they batted first, they wouldve been out for 250ish, aus get 600+ declared, then bowl them out again for 200 Same result with that aussie team

That Aussie team was different gravy! I don't think it would have really mattered whether England batted first instead... They made Gabba a fortress by then.

Aussies were 2 - 346 at stumps. If you elect to bowl first and don't run through the order, you inevitably look stupid. Especially because this was, obviously, a cracking pitch to bat on. It wouldn't mattered though in the long run. Aussies pumped them this series 4 - 1

Rain God saved Australia eventually. Although aussies have retained the Ashes but England won by threatening kangaroos so much that aussies were running scared and praying for rain at old trafford which tentamounts to real victory for England. Another important thing is that the Bazball has generated a buzz with a newfound and a renewed interest in the longer format of the game of cricket. In fact, Bazball is the way to go so as to spice up the Test cricket. Though it is needless yet vital to mention that England did not lose first two tests due to Bazball, but they lost it due to dropped catches.
@Human-ig8ok
@Human-ig8ok Год назад
@@GSHDSGDSsdsdfsdf12412 Bazball came into action since 2022 soon after losing Ashes down under in 2021. So England has lost only 2 Ashes tests as of now. Whereas England won countless test matches including 1 ashes test due to Bazball so far.
@bensantowski467
@bensantowski467 Год назад
Bit of a stretch to say bazball didn't lose you the first 2. Bazball mentality behind Stokes's ultra aggressive declaration on Day 1 of the first test went a long way towards losing you that one. An extra 30-50 runs has you home and hosed I would say. Then in the second test 2 for 188 to be all out for 325 due to ultra aggressive bazball style batting went a long way toward losing you that one. Also out of those bazball wins majority have been in England. So don't get to far ahead of yourselves.

Nass will always get stick for this but it's not like his awful decision cost us The Ashes, a la Ponting in 2005. We were probably looking at a draw at best in this Test if we'd batted first and even if we'd somehow managed to win it, Australia still would've won The Ashes because they were much better than us! The real victim of Nasser's mistake was poor old Simon Jones!

@@jaymurphy8 Very true. When he took over they were bottom of the test rankings but as I recall under the Hussain / Fletcher regime earned some notable series wins v West Indies and abroad in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It was also them giving opportunities to the likes of Trescothick, Strauss, Vaughan, Jones, Harmison and Hoggard that formed the core of their Ashes winning side in 05.
