Ive been impressed by ford over the past few years with the Mustang, Focus ST/RS, and the Fiesta ST. i hope they keep it up.

I think boss 302 may be considered as a former version of gt350 without some high technology parts. Track focused, high rev, etc. Maybe ford built the boss to see if people loves a mustang has a different characteristics. And that success might lead to the development of gt350.

Idk man these GT350s are pretty amazing :D Never know you may pop up with one lol. I wouldn't boost it, just full exhaust and tune, kooks headers with this setup would be life!

I agree that the mustang has came a long way. I would definitely call it a straight line car in the past, but the newer ones just handle the twisties so much better!

very impressive! making me look twice at these GT350s. Tuning alone with no bolt ons at 480WHP, awesome! I was looking at these for my next car and was interested to build up a bit more, but as these are a high compression cars at 12.0:1boosting it requires quite the modification. I am very interested in seeing the process, trail runs of boosting these and see how they are. Great Review David!

*Hey David, love watching your videos since Sept 2013. At **6:36**, you're right that there isn't any other (brand new) car out there with a character of the voodoo but if we're including used cars, i'm going to have to slightly disagree with you. The E9x M3 with its S65 V8 and Audi RS4/RS5 or R8 V8 can be bought with sub 20k miles for similar money to the GT350. All those german cars also have (cross-planed unlike flat plane crank) naturally aspirated engines that rev past 8200rpm. Regardless, this GT350 is phenomenal. In the UK, its easy to go to a Ford dealer to buy either an Ecoboost & GT but to get the GT350, we would have to either grey-import it or go to mainland europe to find used ones, which are pretty hard to find haha*

This is why I love Ford, they're actually trying new things and innovating. While Chevrolet just keeps putting bigger motors in their cars, like the Z28. I like Chevy too, but come on, try something new.

I've seen a few of gt350s dyno runs. The HP ranges from 460rwhp to 500+rwhp. I guess it depends on the conditions the car is in.

Have always liked Mustangs. Have owned several. The new body style does nothing for me. It is more European in design and sound. I hate the sound of the new Mustangs. I know Ford is going after the younger crowd with these . And that's fine. Just not for me. Another cool video though

Honestly David is the coolest people out there, met him at a car meet yesterday and he started a conversation with us out of no where after saying hey to him. Drove a 2016 Mustang (auto V6 though, which was slow and dull) for 2700 miles during a Cali roadtrip a month ago. Things I liked: The seats are amazing! Not a single soar bum was seen even through 10-hour stretches. The stereo system is fantastic (except the Synq feature, that sucked), great sound! The steering wheel! The looks! It was comfy! Things I didn't like: Parts of the interior feeling cheap, i.e. the plastic bit molded to look like CF but feels like what Pringles tubes are made of. How long it is, it's a big car! The hills around SF were interesting in this boat of a car.. The fact that you can't close the boot without slobbering your greasy fingers all over the bodywork, prints everywhere! The gearbox (although irrelevant here really), GOD that automatic thing was slow and annoying even in "Sport" mode. It also didn't know what to do if you were quick with the stick when parking, got lost and had to stop and think before following your commands, made clunking sounds and got jerky even though it was a brand new car. The boatyness of the suspension and lack of steering feel, were the wheels even touching the ground? ...But a 480whp V8 revving that high, with that soundtrack, remedies ALL of the above. I want one of these, bad!

I love 2 things. 1: How VMP's plate frames say "got torque?" and the GT350 doesnt. 2: How all the youtube know it all's are astonished that Fords power claims were at the crank,. You know, how 99% of horsepower claims are measured. lol Keep up the good work david!

I hate how ford has started to use small displacement engines. Since like 98. Back when the 351 Windsor was an option, a 5.8L, It's so much easier to make huge power numbers with the help of Big displacement. Chevy is using 6.0L 6.2L and even bigger in a few cars but ford is using these tiny (Haha Tiny 5.0L v8, Lets not talk about all the 1.8L inline motors...) engines. Even in the trucks, Everything is smaller with ford but they are still producing power and keeping up witht he big displacement Chevy engines.

Simple answer to boosting a gt350 David. Would be go to lethal performance and see what a whipple Does to this engine at 8250 rpm. It's ridiculously beautiful. Also like 830 whp.

I can tell you the rumor around the campfire as to why we didn't put Brembo's on the back of the 13-14 5.0L. They didn't fit with the Live Rear axle! couldn't put them on with the packaging and the size of the Brembos. But that's just what I've heard from some engineering buddies!

The strength of the GT350 is the engine. It's a modern day version of the 1969 Boss 302. Poor low RPM torque and hi revving capabilities. I really like the idea of this throwback idea, however, where it misses the boat entirely is its weight. It's freakin fat and there are still aspects of the car that IMO are ugly. There was no reason Ford needed to use the "moniker" shark bite grill opening. If I want a sports car that looked like a Fusion going down the road, then I'd be happy. If you can't recognize that its a Mustang without the "Ford standardized grill opening", then go buy a Toyota. Also, Ford better put this puppy on a diet or they will continue losing market share to the Camaro and its prehistoric engines. Like them or not, they are stout and are presently the market leader in performance. I'm hoping the 2018 proves to be a much needed update.

Why do they advertise cars by their crank horsepower instead of their wheel horsepower? Dave says this GT350 makes 480whp but when you look on google, it says the GT350 makes 526 horsepower. I’m just curious as to why that is

That engine, with a roots blower, or a TT setup should have been in the new Ford GT! High revving, lightweight, and pushing 675-700hp..... js

McLaren use a 3.8 litre flat plane V8 , but with 2 turbos McLaren's produce torque from under 2000 rpm all the way to the redline . Ford could have made this car just as fast as a 650 S , but they decided to meter out the power in stages everything from 4 cylinders to V8 and Fiesta to GT . Give it some time and someone will figure out how to make power through the whole rpm range on these engines .

At really high RPM's on crappy MacBook Air speakers this car sounds just like an S2000 and that's what is so insane about these FPC engines.

Nope, don't boost 'em. It's like turbocharging a GT3. It just isn't right. This is a proper track car for the street, not a single purpose 1/4 mile machine.

Speaking of mustangs crashing, a brand new mustang drove up a tree (low slant but ended up on its side) next to my friend's house while trying to show off.

David, it has 6-piston brakes in the front and 4-piston brakes in the rear, not 6-piston all the way around. Just letting you know!
