Janice Coleman But who else gone sing rofl! Oh I have seen her and Lalah H together that was I can't even describe it. Also her girl Anita she can hang too. I love seeing all of them on stage together.
Watch Deborah Cox facial expression when Rachelle Farrell is singing Inseperable....and hit that high note. OMG!!! I'd be looking the same. Beautiful tribute by both ladies.
@@rosalynb8942 ,I find it awesome that Rachelle is the same. She truly supports other female vocalists and gives them space to do their thing rather than trying to sing over them. Did you see the way she smiled when Deborah took over on inseparable at 4:14? She was beaming like a proud Momma. She is a very underrated and humble woman
There are those who can sing, then there are those who can Saaanng, then there are those whose voice is like from another planet like Rachelle Ferrell. Just amazing!!!
Being a singer myself. I can tell people their are singers and then others who are just vocally GIFTED...!!! Rachelle is one of these rarities. Their isn't much she can't do vocally speaking. Her range is phenomenal and the way she moves her lips and mouth her tonal quality is fantastic.
You can tell Natalie was really feeling that performance! :-D Rachelle Ferrel is a force of nature, not sure I'd want to sing with her on stage but props to Deborah Cox for trying! That takes balls.
Rachelle respectfully held back and still caused goosebumps and chills. You can feel the tension in the audience when Rachelle sings. Look at Natalie lean forward in expectation cuz she and the audience both know what Rachelle is capable of. And that segment from 3:30 4:00 is a masterclass in breath control and riffing technique. (I've played that segment alone at least ten times now, in awe.) But she was graceful and respectful to Deb and that's a wonderful thing.
I feel she was passing the buck to a young talent , I see she was pushing Mrs cox to go for it . I feel no one understands they practice first . Let’s celebrate our talented singers ❤️❤️❤️
I am happy to see Natalie Cole enjoying these performances. I miss her dearly. Natalie was the real deal. Rachelle Ferrell and Deborah Cox did a phenominal job.
It's not like Deborah Cox don't have chops, But Rachelle Ferrell sings as if, and then her voice is literally an instrument. For me it registers to my soul and not just my ears. For ME FOr Me this is like Whitney sharing the stage with Gladys Knight; two different styles and I like the soulfulness of Gladys more
Gwen Renee Whitney and Gladys would have sounded phenomenal together because Whitney had the skill and knowledge to make a duet work with a legend. Remember Whitney had duets with Aretha, Stevie, Natalie, Dionne, etc. Deb and Rachelle are more like pairing Keyshia Cole with Lalah Hathaway.
I think I have watched this no less than 50 times in the last week. Seriously, there are NOT enough Natalie Cole tributes. It made me very sad to realize how under appreciated she was. I even saw her live at the Greenwood Jazz Festival during the Unforgettable time period. I just didn't realize how amazing she was and to think that the Grammys just passed over her death like it was nothing, they mentioned her, no real tribute though. She won 9 Grammys and they just basically lumped her in with the other artists who died that year. Sad.....and to see the joy in her eyes watching this tribute. She was punch drunk in love with the vocals and the music.
FRFR Natalie Cole and Peabo Bryson ALBUM of Duets was played by my mom on Saturday's loudly as we cleaned up. My favorite cut We're the Best of Friends
I agree with you wholeheartedly. Natalie was phenomenal. My favorite too. No they didn’t do her right when she passed. I too am still upset about that. She was truly a blessing. Her testimony helped many people. I just don’t have enough words…. ❤
deborah has more metal in her voice..as a brassiness..and her upper register and mixing the voice for the upper belts are better than whitneys. Whitney had a good mid belt but a full belt of F5s and up werent her strength. Earlier yes, but not in the middle of her career and especially not the end. Think Deborah has a healthier technique than whitney which is why she still sounds the same.
theodore braden If we’re comparing prime Whitney to prime Deborah, Whitney definitely had the healthier technique. She had far more soft palate lift, more core engagement and diaphragm control, and easier transitions to her head voice. Whitney always maintained rounder vowels, and tended to resonate in her chest. Deb has wider vowels and resonates more in her nose. That gives her the brassy sound, which is quite common among black belters. That’s why Whitney’s tone sounded so much more refined than her peers.
Natalie Cols is one of my favorites. Rachell and Deborah OMG blew me away. You can tell Natalie was very touched by the two vocalist singing her songs 😫🙏🏾🕊️❤️🩹🌹⭐️💐 Rest in Power Natalie Cole.
I’ve never thought that Natalie Cole was under-rated. An under-rated singer does not win grammies. And Natalie won more than a few. One of my favorite Natalie Cole albums is Natalie En Español. Wow! I didn’t even know her Spanish was that great. Beautiful work!
Under appreciated. 9 Grammys a few AMAs, etc, and no tributes in death? Literally music royalty and no tributes? Now when Nancy Sinatra pass watch how boots walk all over stages in tribute 🙄
I'm sorry but Rachel is not to played with don't ever put noone with her ever cause her voice is outstanding just makes the other looks like senseless if I was singers I'll just pass🤭
@@aleyahmckinney I agree. Terry taught me how to harmonize and push my voice when she sang in her upper register and find my note on the lower. As a little girl her I hadn't learned to appreciate my brown skin tone. I vividly remember seeing Karen White and Terry and saying I wanna be pretty like them one day. At the time the beautiful Pebbles and Vanessa Williams reigned but that wasn't me, u look for that relatability as a preteen. Terry's poise, annunciation of words and her ability to command in stage presence gave me life!!!
I don't know how many times I've seen this stellar performance. Truly amazing! And seeing Natalie Cole flattered and filled with joy because someone is doing such justice to her songs... i mean, WOW.
This is only public tribute that Natalie Cole and the good thing about it she was alive to see it. She deserves a public tribute from the Grammys and a long overdue apology as to why it took so long
Lol Ferrell is the only artist that’s could sing every note in any melody.. lol Ferrell is on her on time.. forget the beat and the music laws lol I love u Ferrell
Baaaaaaybeee folks be SCURRED to sing with Rachelle 😂😂😂She tries so hard to lock in with the other artists but chile they just do their own thing 😂😂😂😂IT AINT EASY.
Unsung? Nah. Because she has a lane and has never really had any lows as she cut her own path and is a jazz artist and never sought pop stardom and is widely known in those circles.
I know these artists must say to themselves, "Da..!" when scheduled to sing with Rachelle; she perfects every song and no current voice can match her IMO, beautiful tribute.
The way Deb quickened at 3:45...LOL...She FELT that thing. Rachelle had went STRAIGHT CHURCH for about 3 seconds. I quickened at the exact same time 🙂 Deb was looking at her like "Are you singing like this for REAL?!!"
Unpopular opinion , why do our people , turn a tribute into a competition ? I see a legend enjoying her celebration . Another legend passing the torch to a future legend .❤️❤️❤️
Natalie needs a biopic. she is one of the leading ladies of the black sound really took the torch from Ella and billie and her vocals like hers have yet to come back.
I’m come in peace , a lot of the comparisons comments are unnecessary .These ladies delivered a stellar tribute . I noticed Mrs Cox face of amazement and very a very humbling honor to tribute a legend while singing with a legend. Let’s celebrate a wonderful tribute . ❤️❤️❤️
Miss Ferrell got a lotta fucking nerve coming to the stage singing Natalie's song better than her. I mean, shit.... The most underrated vocalist of our time, tbh.
