My Ukrainian director friend Eugene Khazin asked me to produce a Heavy Metal cover version of Ukraine's National Anthem to raise donations for the Ukranian Red Cross. Together with JD McGibney (guitar) and singer Matthew Lee Patterson (male vocals) we recorded this version. Eugene translated the lyrics to English, and edited the beautiful video you can watch here.

This song and music video - is adapted and arranged “Shche ne vmerla Ukrainy”, which is also the National Anthem of Ukraine.
I am Eugene Khazin, film director and writer, I was born and lived the first part of my live in Ukraine. Work on this version of song started two weeks after war sounded across my Homeland.
My goal was to show support to my countrymen, who right now are suffering and fighting for their existence, remind them about brightest and significant moments and places, rise up their mood among this dark time, inspire to find forces to keep going. I was trying to use those images and emotions, which connect me to my Homeland.
Gradually, to project got attached different people from all around world - music was arranged by Chris Wirsig, German by birth. Male part was sung by Matthew Lee Patterson - American, with ancestors from Northern Europe. Guitars was brought to life by JD McGibney, same as Matt - American with whole variety of European background. This shows, how simple people from different nations felt our pain and stepped in to help Ukrainians, no matter what, and continue to show support.
This song was also created to show to whole world - what is Ukraine, what is our home and what we can give to rest of humanity, how old our own roots, traditions, what kind of people and cultural heritage we have, which must be saved.
This is also a call for help. Unfortunately, the war is still going on, and a lot of people require everyday support. Please, help those, who are part of this world. Participate or donate to any humanitarian organization, which you like. Bellow is two, in which I took part:
