What’s up Greg. I immediately thought of you when I saw this thing. Perfect boat for your style. Would love to get a walkthrough of your new rig when our paths cross again.
Thanks for the great review. I bought the same kayak (Native Watercraft Slayer Propel 10 MAX) last November (the newest 2021/2022 model), and had just one chance to try her out on a lake (before it got too cold heading into winter here up north in Toronto, Canada). I like this kayak very much. One thing I noticed (out of my only time on water with this kayak) that I don't like is, somehow those scupper plugs are not tight enough, with water leaking onto the deck all the time, due to the kayak deck surface is BELOW water line once you sit on the kayak (good for stability while you sit on a high seat, though). Or maybe I didn't screw those scupper plugs tight enough. Will have to try and find it out later when it's time I can take it to a lake again (likely in a little over a month's time. Right now it is still ice fishing season here:-). Thanks again, and cheers.
I bought one after my first Slayer was stolen from High Rock Lake. Fantastic upgrade over the original. Tracks better, steers better, handles the wind better and the new rudder system is head and shoulders over the old steel breaking cable.
Just wanted to drop in and say I miss your top 10 of 202X series! I've been enjoying the under 1000$ kayaks each year for a long time, hope to see it make a return!
I got a new slayer max 12.5. Wow it’s a fantastic fishing platform. Just as fast as my Hobie outback. Very ergonomic with the available space and I can fish more comfortably sitting up higher. Now that I’ve compared the two side by side. Looking to sell my outback
Wanting to upgrade from a Crescent UL which has been ok as my first yak but I find it to be more unstable than I had anticipated. I’ve turtled 3 times in the last 18 months. Partly on me, since I have some balance issues. So I need a stable yak. But I’m also 6’ and wondering if this yak is a good fit for folks like me who are slightly taller than the norm? (I’m about 185 lbs) thanks and good to see you posting again! (Or maybe I’ve just been missing your posts since you changed formats. Hope all is going well with you and the family since the change.)
It looks like the seat can only go so far back would this kayak be too small for a taller person? I am 6’3” and recently sold my slayer 12.5 looking to get into this kayak.
@@HeadwatersKayak the 10 or 12 model? I'm roughly the same height/weight and I thought the 10 would be too small. I'd rather go with the 10 for cartopping. Thoughts?
There’s a keel under the boat in front of the rudder that prevent it from breaking off. They’ve use this rudder design now for almost 10 years and it’s very proven as far as durability. The new steering mechanism makes it function even better.
I just went to my one and only kayak shop near me and they are all out of slayer and said they most likely won’t be sent anymore. Due to the company being combined with others. Idk if it’s true or not.
I’m from Arizona does anyone know an online retailer I could purchase a native titan from. I haven’t been able to find any dealers in Arizona who sell them
Ok. 24 seconds into the video you say that you would tell us who this kayak would be right for....you never touched on that point. So...who would this kayak be right for?
They have 2 kayaks in the 12 and 2 in 10. Why not make adjustments and redo the 13.5? I love native but I do want to be able to take the “kitchen sink” with me if I want 🤣
