@Naptural85, what is the brand of brush? If you do not know, what type? Would love to try this beautiful style, but sometimes, if I do not have the right brush, I cannot create the style! Thank you in advance!
My mom would put my hair in two ponytails for school and this hairstyle is what I would change it to when I got there lol...saved me from a lot of teasing back in the day.
I did this to my kids hair when she was little. People always commented she looked like a little queen like that. Don't know why I didn't use it for myself...😂
Just wanna say I’m so happy to see you posting regularly again! For us and for you! It’s a sign things are stabilizing for you in this new phase of life. You look great 💗
“Natural hairstyles for when you’re no longer a teenager.”- why is this the the perfect statement for the conundrum my natural hair journey has been as of late?😢
OK Whit - I am here for this content. I can always rock disco buns - and often do. ☺️☺️But you sharing something manageable that is also appropriate for 30 something-year-old woman - I appreciate.✨✨✨
@blkchoklit I agree w/ you. I like the ponytails I see on some vids but they look ridiculous on me like I’m trying to ‘reclaim’ my youth or something. I didn’t know this was called disco bun? Whitney made this look age-appropriate [for me] and beautiful. Greetings from Chicago 🪴
Thats what people say and yet my hair is identical to this and I'm tired and wear cheap wigs or braids daily lol. It's hard to manage. I get tired just looking at it.
It's funny cause this is how my mom did my hair when I was a kid, but I've always found the style to be elegant and regal. I'm wearing a variation in my profile pic!
I believe you did this style a few years ago and it instantly became one of my favorites and a go to when my twist outs or wash n gos near the end of their life. No hassle, low level of skill required, easy maintenance, hair is off my neck and not rubbing on my clothes, and with a jewel added here and there I have a chunky twisted crown ❤😊
Lol this is like the natural hair black girl version of milkmaid braids! I like milkmaid braids but would have to either straighten my hair or add hair to achieve that look. This, I can do any day. Cute!
Girllll that snot almost took the top of my hair out! It was still in my hair the next day and it harder my hair up. I literally used your shampoo to get it out. If you want a good slick back it’s great but like the day before wash day foreal 😮
I use to wear my hair like this when it was natural before I got locs. It was one of my favorite styles. I would sometimes leave the back out and have my curls popping. I'm going to try it now that I have hip length locs. Thanks for reminding me love.
Going to try this but with hair sticks added. I love how low manipulation and easy to do tis style is, while looking super elegant and work appropriate.
I absolutely LOVE this. Thank you. Wow I’ve been watching you since I was in college just starting my natural hair journey. It’s crazy to think I still go to this page for advice now and I’m 28.
I will have to try this style for my mother-in-laws birthday party tomorrow since I just washed my hair today! Edit: I did the style and loved it! Will be doing it again today!
I love this style. When my now 33 year old daughter was 5 I would do her hair like this for pictures. She would have hair coming down on both sides in the front also. ❤
My natural hair has never been that long. Just bc again. Gonna try the cherry lola method to see if I can get my low porosity locs to retain moisture and finally grow long and strong!!! Love this style.
OMG!!!! I just reverted back to this hairstyle from my childhood with my locs!!! My daughter says “Mom I remember when you would do this style to our hair”
Omg. Ok so this is my new “two buns” adult version. And i think im about to replace all my styling gels with this one (I’ve had a lot of breakage from gels recently) thank u girl.
