Please guy's do as I say and some of you might get rid of this problem cause I've gotten better 1: by all means avoid refined wheat flour products this is your real enemy 2: avoid all types of meat go vegan 3: avoid dairy products instead use substitutes like soya milk 4: avoid fast foods strictly 5: try to add clarified butter in every meal possible this helps to soften the tool this helped me 6: try eating wheat flour products I'm Indian so I use to eat roti instead of rice and if you want to have rice have Brown rice it's rich in fibre. 7: drink water double the amount you use to drink before, drink hot water everytime and drink 2 to 4 glasses of hot water slowly in the morning in an empty stomach. 8: avoid fried foods, avoid potatoes. 9: have seasonal fruits increase the amount of fruit intake but avoid banana it's a strict no , peach can do wonders for constipated stool. 10: atleast chew food 25 times and increase if possible cause most of the digestion took place in the mouth itself. 11: have cucumbers alot and water rich fruits like watermelon it'll help in digestion. 12: avoid cabbage as when I used to eat cabbage I would see little spikes on my hard constipated poop which lead to anal fissure. So, I avoided cabbage it's my real enemy. 13:avoid chocolates it'll slow down digestion. 14: even if the problem pertains after all this effort go see a physician ASAP and you should see if the blood in stool is very frequent in large amount than its alarming go see a physician you could die of it if you won't. 15: after the medical prescription follow the things mentioned above as it won't harm you anyway. I Hope each and every one of you gets totally recovered and be healthy as you were before I've been getting this problem again after having cabbage so I am starting again hope I get well soon. i have ibs and done my research on foods, low fodmap stuff is the way to go, apparently for me ripe ish bananans are good green not as..? and id die without potatoes, dont rly get issues with it, or better yet try sweet potatoes peeps>>.>>

I can’t say enough how much I appreciate your videos. I’ve been dealing with brain cancer all year and between surgery and the chemotherapy drugs, constipation has been a weekly struggle for months. I wish I had found you sooner. Your knowledge and ability to teach is such a relief, thank you 🙏

My wife was severely constipated when I first met her. half a cup of oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of Chia Seeds, 2 tablespoons of ground Flaxseed, 1 whole pear peeled, sliced and poached in a syrup of a tablespoon of water, a tablespoon of honey, and a quarter teaspoon of cinnammon. Put the chia and flaxseed in with the oatmeal, add 1 cup of water and stir over a low heat until it turns into porridge. add the poached pears in syrup, some sugar if desired, oat milk, 1 tablespoon of chopped hazelnuts, eat daily. After 1 week we saw some improvement and after 3 weeks she was completely regular. It also worked on my dad and my daughter. 9 grams of soluble fibre, and 9 grams of insoluble fibre, a ratio of 1:1 so it doesn't bulk up like the insoluble fibre heavy wholegrains in breads, etc. It gives you a nice soft stool with low to medium bulk. Also works for Haemorrhoids, which I can personally attest to.

Excellent video and so happy that someone has addressed this huge issue, mostly in the western hemisphere and developing countries. Laxatives are the #1 over the counter drug in the US, that should tell everyone something. So grateful for this as I am an highly educated IBS sufferer for over 40 years and continue to work to discover ways to manage it.

Constipation and hemorrhoids are a bad mix. Changed my diet about a year ago knocking out processed foods and cheese. I have to be strict with it or I go back to misery. I feel better and have more energy.

I've never pooped as recently as I have now, I've pooped two times this week and it's been soft both times...what's done it is me eating more fresh food, so if that's what your aiming for try cooking more homemade fresh stuff, it honestly helps a lot.

Cactus leaves..(nopal in Spanish).. You can blen it with water and drink it.. You will be amazed in how easy it is to have a bowel movement.. If you just can't take the taste as it is.. You can blend it with other fruits to hide the taste and flavor.. You can use orange, pineapple etc.

That’s a significant happening. Might want acupuncture. A simple technique might clear a kink in the hose. Acupuncturists are helpful when people have difficulty conceiving. Helpful? They brag about making lotsa babies.

Not surprising….there are pathways so -rich with blood, pockets, it’s a busy thoroughfare. That it happened more than once is significant. Elvis died, a structural twisted problem which created a long held backup. A kink in the hose. They have cameras now that they didn’t have then. Whether a colonoscopy detects an abnormality, that can be found out. Underlying story is….famous guy gets another pill. That’s not medicine. They didn’t have great computers and cameras then. We live in a world of what does my insurance cover, he didn’t. Regional hospitals and teaching hospitals are better when you don’t know what it is.

I definitely agree with starting really slowly. I actually went too fast and ended up in the ER and having the doctor remove the waste. (1) Trying it the right way, I purchased probiotics and tested them for 2 months to see if they helped. The first one I bought was cheap and didn’t work then the second one was $40 and it worked. (2) Purchased a bullet blender and over 3 months increased my green shake to 3 a day. Green shake 2 cups mixed dark greens (Swiss chard, kale, collard greens, spinach) 1 cup blueberries, 1/2 pineapple, 1/2 firm banana ( for non IBS you can add a whole banana) + water. All this can be frozen including the greens. first month 1 bullet shake a day, 2nd month 2 bullet shakes a day, 3rd month 3 bullet shakes a day. Plan for a minimum of 9 months to “build up.” During this time drink about 1 gallon water (check with doctor if you have heart failure, COPD, heart lung or liver problems or edema). Also do miralax or some kind of over the counter daily for severe chronic constipation. I had to do miralax in the morning and one at night. Sometimes even colace or dulcolax and enemas too. (3) remove dairy completely no yogurt kefir milk ice cream 😢 (4) After the 9 months to a year try a plant based diet (or plant forward diet: twice a week you have some kind of meat in your meal) - at least 3 meals of: 1/2 dark leafy greens and 1/2 other vegetables.

Olive oil in moderation (i.e. 1 tsp after each meal) helps quite a bit to soften stool and make bowel movements easier and lessen IBS-C pain. It's a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory.

Just today for bo reason I had type 4 stool it went out smooth and fast and it was long just in picture (bit loose) . So how can I go from being constipated and blocked to having Normal bowel movement

I am using EHRETS method atm as loosely started fruit and veg last year which brought my seizures out to crazy moments. (Nervous, anxious, flushes of sweats soaking clothes, tingles, numbness, nausea and vomiting. Unbeknown to me I was breaking my fast with fruit instead of laxative foods. Can’t wait to try spinach/celery stew on my next fast and get to the end of 7 years of seizures 👌🏼 godliness has always been said to be close to cleanliness but it’s been misinterpreted to our outside and not our insides. A realisation I have noticed re old teachings. And I am not religious. But fascinating seeing the bible through the eyes of a healing rather than superstition that is attached. If anyone’s done psychedelics everyone knows I can reach same states being clean. Glad ur spinach helped. I can’t wait to try. X❤

With psyllium husk, or cereal grains, be sure to drink lots of liquid to go with them. When you buy the commercial product Metamucil, the instructions say to drink a certain amount of water with it. In fact you mix it in.

Thank you for making this video, it is really motivating me to try something to make my constipation better. I think you mentioned to possibly avoid caffeine. I sometimes have 1 or 2 bottles of kombucha a day (15 ounces each bottle), and there is 68 mg of caffeine in each bottle. My problem is having firmer, lumpy stools, bloating, and feeling like my stomach is full. I have been thinking of taking sennosides to help clear me out, but I’m a little worried it might cause cramping or vomiting.

It's possibly from pain relief meds - you probably need to go to the pharmacy to get some stool softener or see your doctor but over the counter pharmacy meds usually do the job, all the best

Green bean casserole is helping me. I use frozen green beans. I thaw them out, simmer then in a pot with water until they're soft, then I make the casserole and bake it. If I'm not mistaken green beans have high levels of insoluble fiber. People say eat plenty of fiber but they don't tell you what kind of fiber. Another thing that's helping is trying to use the bathroom each morning. I have to rock back and forth on the toilet but it works so that's what I do. When I feel the slightest urge I go to the toilet. Otherwise the urge will go away and I probably won't be able to go to the bathroom that day. It can be frustrating. But each day you go to the bathroom is a success. One day at a time. If you don't go to the bathroom one day then be hopeful that you will the next day. Try not to get discouraged.

Right now I am dealing with Hemorrhoids and it is critically important for me to keep my stool soft. This video is so accurate and greate and I am so thankful for the information provided. I also have a suggestion for people who want to have it easy when they go for number 2: - Avoid too much coffee or Tea and they can dehydrate your body and intestines from liquids and harden stools - Avoid too much fat, especially saturated and trans, and meat if you are dealing with constipation - Mix 1 teaspoon of psyllium husk with a glass of water and drink it after each meal to account for the missing fiber. Drink two glasses of water if you can after - Drink 1 tablespoon of Olive oil and a glass of warm water before you sleep each night as olive oil can act as a natural laxative (not for more than 7 days straight)

For hemorrhoids, use mullein tea. Not in grocery, use the Buddha type speciality teas or co-op type health food stores might have it loose in a glass jar. Make the tea, use as a compress while lying down after a shower, just 20 minutes will do. Just hold against the area. You could use the wet tea bag, or use a round makeup pad as a compress. It’s possible to have internal hemorrhoids and be completely unaware. Drinking the mullein tea might keep it from happening in the first place, don’t know. But using it against the skin works immediately . No pain, no stinging, it works on contact. It’s amazing.

Hi Michelle. I'm going in for a hysterectomy because of a uterine prolapse and pelvic floor repair on 9/11/20. I'm really concerned about constipation as I was told by my surgeon not to push in any way. Thankyou so much for this video and the one on using pillows to sleep. I already use the pillow between my knees due to 3 of my lumbar disks that are prolapsed. Thank you again ❤

My pleasure - many ladies here start on an osmotic laxative called Movicol or Odmolax from day 1 of their surgery, it keeps the stool soft but emptying stays gentle. I usually recommend a dose the day or two prior to surgery as well so the bowel is empty to start with. If you look up Osmolax equivalent in your country you’ll find it - usually 1 sachet a day and very safe (check with your pharmacist). All the best for your surgery!

I use a comb of either tomato and cucumber or orange/yellow bell pepper & cucumber. I've had a problem with constipation all my life and finally have a bm every day if I one of those combinations every day.

I always learn something from you Michelle, thanks... I eat simple popcorn that I do in the microwave, about two bowls a day, because it satiates my enormous appetite without a lot of calories- it's organic, whole grain, no salt or butter etc. But I notice you said, "occasionally". Now, I'm a little constipated right now, so thanks to you, I'm going to temporarily skip my intake of a teaspoon or so of psyllium seeds into my instant oatmeal (though I'll continue to add: cinnamon, maple syrup, collagen, and frozen blueberries). So is that much popcorn part of the problem? The problem is, I'd like to lose a bit of weight, and the addition of popcorn was serving as a partial replacement for my formerly large intake of nuts: salted almonds and salted pistachios, plain walnuts and plain Brazil nuts: I'm nuts for nuts! So here I was thinking I was doing a good thing by emphasizing the popcorn over the nuts, but now... I dunno; what do you reckon? Thanks again.

In the case of problems passing stool you ought not to have a painful bowel movement with extreme pain. So you should avoid any stool pressure and bleeding due to hard stool. In order to keep off this one take regularly 1 tablespoon (= 15 ml) castor oil early in the morning on an empty stomach; 1 to 2 hours after having swallowed this dosage you will have an easy bowel movement without any pain.

Eat more figs/prunes/apple also easy digestive veggies , drink 2-3 liter of fluids daily , begin your day with two cup of warm water , increase your spices like cayenne pepper, chili flakes, turmeric, ginger, and milk/fruit juices are good as well , the most important thing reduce your meal size and divide it to more than one meal a day it will help you , don’t take a big meal or OMAD. Increase your good gut bacteria by taken kefir/kimchi/yogurt/Sauerkraut/tempeh/pickled cucumber. Or take it as supplement “probiotics” . Stay away from potato/white bread/banana/white rice. Use less fluid while eating so you can chew your food more by forcing your saliva to make easier for your gut/bowels. Have a good day 👋🏻🌹

As I'm getting older things have slowed down. A few things that help, Yoga, Exercise like walking, running, swimming, Magnesium Citrate (read the directions), Metamucil or psyllium husk caps, Prune juice or prunes. With fiber you can have too much and it'll make it worse.

Your videos have actually changed my life as I suffer from BPH and your insight has really helped. Technical issue with this video: you are in an acoustically "live" room. Meaning, lots of hard flat surfaces to reflect the sound. This causes a somewhat "echo" effect. Coupled with the fact we speak 2 different English languages makes understanding more difficult. As you mentioned white bread, rice, popcorn, marshmallows and pretzels, these foods have high sugar or convert to suger and leads to constipation. But used sparingly to help if your stool from becoming to soft as long as these foods are in moderation and avid hard stools. Thank you so much for creating these videos, absolutely wonderful. about five years ago had so much issues and went to so many pt and ended having more surgeries. I was so confused by the contradictory by therapists, that everytime I went, I was provided with different techniques and rules and in the end I felt defeated and stop listen and did care anymore. then one day, tried browsing the internet and found your videos on pop and you made sense and offered so many tricks to help engage and unengaged muscle groups. thank you so much these have been helpful and straight forward.

Popcorn has no sugar and is very high in fiber. She mentioned it as one of the foods you can eat that will help with constipation. One serving of 100 grams of plain popcorn has 52 percent of your daily requirement of fiber!

Spicy foods beware - they can irritate the bowel for many people and cause gas, bloating and constipation - this is an individual thing, it may owrk for you, it's trial and error. Caffeine falls into a similar category

Feel your pain, it’s bad enough when it happens to us. Times a thousand when caregiving. As can be seen from Comments, it’s all so worrying. Lots of videos now on how to make a castor oil pack. Apply castor oil to flannel cloth…usually sold right next to the castor oil. Or use a well worn clean white that -shirt. Cover the abdomen with the cloth, then plastic or some cloth to act as a barrier layer. No dyes, make it white. Half an hour with a heating pad. The purpose of the flannel is to form a seal, right up against the skin. The pack can be refrigerated to use a few times. The oil will wash out, but more than one washing usually, pre-soak in baking soda water and then wash. The abdomen will become totally relaxed. Might put you to sleep, so relaxed. Recommended to use baking soda water to wipe the abdomen area. Toxins might have risen to skin surface, don’t wait to shower, swipe the area with clean baking soda water. Don’t want toxins to go back where they came from, cleanse the area. It’s a ritual we’re doing. When panicked, the body connection is disturbed. Like many people, the only time I have trouble is when I travel. Habits are habits, after all. For fissures it’s Vitamin E capsules all the way. Bite end to release the oil. It’s a perfect amount, or use two. Keep Vitamin E in the refrigerator, all oils become rancid…refrigerate, End of problem. Twice or three times, healed. Lots of things work. Nothing works unless we apply Persistence. Keep a record by taking a quick photo, give it a date to see when you started. Email yourself. There’s no need for a flame-thrower drug, home remedies work. Look up Country Wisdom, Native American, Appalachian. The grandmothers knew. It works, but needs persistence. Try different things. Dip a heel of Italian bread on a plate with a dollop of oil, olive, castor, whatever healthful oil, many are not. No need to take from a spoon….acquired taste or not. Just swipe a piece of bread, pleasant taste. Love Michelle’s content. I subscribed first thing.

Normally I'm very regular with a fairly predictable rhythm (sometimes to the point of diarrhea). But 4 weeks ago after having blood in my urine (from kidney stone issues) I changed my diet, cutting down on sugar and fruit, drinking lemon water and adding more vegetables. The result has been less regularity and light constipation. I'm the kind of person who has a history of indulging in chocolate, often two chocolate bars (sometimes more) on a work day.

Now, i was wondering if u can help me with my issue. what i hv is chronic constipation and hard stools too and i get major stressed out at every BM because i have grade 2/3 hemorrhoids and sometimes theres a light bleed hence my anxiety. Been taking a tablespoon of duphalac daily as well as synbiotic, drinking water, eating fruits and vegs. My goal/objective is to hv soft stools so that the hemorrhoids dont flare up or bleed. Moreover, i dont want to rely too much of duphalac (not sure if its helping) or laxatives(hardly take). Im at my wits end, so is there any solution? I dont want surgery/banding unless its really necessary. Just started Trying out a little of yr kegel exercise(i hope im doing correctly) and trying to add abit more soluble fibre foods gradually into my body (not sure if i should focus on soluble or insoluble fibre). Hv bought prunes, papaya, bananas and eating leafy greens etc. Nonetheless, i hope u can help me! Thanks!

The foods that are high in fiber was informative. I would add that drinking HOT beverages is key coupled with HOT old-fashioned Quaker oats, raw almonds and Benefiber help tremendously with constipation.

Not everyone can tolerate fiber. Check out the low fodmap elimination diet to see what type of food your system is able to handle. I was surprised to find that I couldn't process fibre easily

Since thousands of years (Egypt!) the optimal manner to overcome not only occasional constipation but chronic constipation too naturally will be taking castor oil. Remember that castor oil is the only laxative that will not work in the intestines by irritating them, but by activating and synthesizing certain substances in the human body. So any habituation of the human body or diminishing laxative effect is absolutely impossible and castor oil is suitable in a special manner for chronic constipation. Take 1 tablespoon (15 ml) castor oil early in the morning on an empty stomach; eventuelly later a second tablespoon castor oil.

i used to have regular bowel movement but ever since the lockdown due to pandemic started, i started being constipated. I'd only feel the urge to poo once a week. two weeks ago i tried adding fruits and veggies to my diet, as well as prune and grape juice but the initial poop is still quite hard, and it hurts. Psyllium Husk is something that im afraid to use. If youre not a water drinker or doesnt drink much water throughout the day, this one is not recommended because this may worsen the constipation more. However, we have a lot of alternative fibers around. Try JICAMA. This is loaded with prebiotics as well as enough fiber to keep you regular.

Popcorn made me happy :) I dono if i have IBS but I always had stomake problems hardstool is the biggest problem, it´s still unclear what causes it but it comes and gose, sometimes it´s just typ 2 but unluckytimes its 1 and it can be really painfull, funny enought i found that coffee when im typ 2 is healpfull and also prunes can help soften it ( it´s said in a more reson video that pruns can be bad ) I hope i will be able to control things alittle atleast to ceep myself at a typ 2 and 3 I really really realy get to 4 and anything els is almost always couaset by illsness like a cold or foodpoisening. I have saved 3 of your videos and i will try it out and see if it realeves some, thank you for the tips, i will start of by doing the bovelmovment excersis. P.S. I am swedish so sorry for the bad grammer.

real hard to defecate lately. Ive been using laxative chocolates to help. Before this, when i could poop, it looked like # 1 and # 2 , and it was very hard to push out. I have been drinking water, and trying a new fibrous diet. This video has been a big help, i will start to eat these foods.

I noticed that some of the recommended foods to soften the stool are also foods to avoid on the FODMAP plan for IBS with constipation. Ie: Stone fruits, pull water into the intestines causing bloating and worsening constipation. That said, this conflicting information is confusing and makes it difficult to figure out how to treat constipation?

I have found that kiwifruit (Chinese gooseberries) and papaya both work very well to soften the stool and avoid IBS flare ups. papaya, prunes and dragon fruits work well for me. I have been battling constipation since young and end up with anal fissures and piles. I understand all the pains and sufferings in the comment section. Drink lots of water, exercise, consumes fruits as suggested in the video and learn to manage stress and anxiety. Try eating grapes! They really work, if you have BLOOD go to your/a medical doctor now! Drink warm water. I had it for 3 days, not serious though. If you go to poo by squating, it'll make it worse sit up straight! I've tried many of these!
