Hey Derrick, great video man! I think this is the only video about the Naturenest Clamshell tent on youTube! I planning on getting it but need to find the right bed rack! You happy with your bed rack? where did you get it from? Also, it looks like you have it with the tonnaux cover right? Because I want one that would work with my tonnaux! Thanks man.
There’s a link to the bed rack that I’m using in the video description , it’s cheap but it does the trick. I have the vinyl style roll up cover. I did have to make some modifications to the side rails and it’s a little more difficult to roll and unroll it but I still have the option to use it which was important to me. L to keep the weather off my stuff.
Are you able to do a more in depth review on your tent (set up/tear down ect) your the only one that has a video on this tent. Looks like a decent quality tent at a decent price.
Sorry I’m just seeing this, I’m hoping to take it camping this weekend if the weather cooperates but either way I’ll try to get a full video of the setup and breakdown. It’s super simple.
looks nice man, I'm really torn about throwing 3-4k at an iKamper also. The only thing that irks me about this tent is the see through plastic material for the awning by the door. I'd like it to be opaque to block out light and not to mention the material looks really easily damaged.
I've used it 5 times so far with no concerns of it falling apart. I actually like the clear on it so when I have just the screen open I can see to the sides easier from the entrance. When it's time to sleep I just shut the main zipper on the doorway most of the way.
I thought about that one but from what I can tell you get a little more room inside of this style. Still very happy with it, hoping to use it this weekend
@@BareBackBroncos nice! Luckily Florida winters are pretty mild but it does get chilly up here in the panhandle. A spare blanket will probably be enough for this weekend though lol
Hey man thanks for the vid! what height is that bed rack you mounted it to? 12 inch i see 3 sized low, medium, tall. Is that ample room under the tent in the bed?
There’s a link in the video description to the rack I used, I’ll have to measure it when I get a chance but if I had to guess I’d say there’s probably 32-33 inches under it. I haven’t had any issues using the bed of my truck like I normally do yet.
Been looking at this one too! Right now i saw it on amazon for $999!. Just wondering would it be hard for me to install it since i have a gobi rack and it is tubular in shape. Thanks!
My bed rack has oversized rectangular cross bars so I had to get creative lol I had to bend the mounting strap things they come with but it still seems really secure.
I have a gobi rack. I dont own this tent but I am about to pull the trigger on it. I have a RTT on my Gobi. It clamps just fine to the cross bars, but i would recommend the elevation bars gobi rack sells. as the regular cross bars although they hold it up just fine, They arent rated for an RTT. (i have had an RTT on the cross bars that come with the gobirack for a year now, if that is saying anything. No issues..)
Thanks for the video, super helpful. Can you share more about the type of cross bar connection the RTT is supposed to attach to?? I'm looking at using a 2in square C or T channel connection. Needing to know this infor before I can purchase. Thanks in advance!@@derrickcassel
@@champdogpark I had to wing it a little, my rack has some thick C channel bars on it. I'll try to get a video in the next few days of the whole camping setup and include all the stuff people are asking about including this.
I recorded a video going over the whole tent better but deleted part of it on accident, I’ll try to get a better one up soon. It came with bolts the slide into the bottom channels with metal plates.
I haven't yet, I have a storage tote I leave my sleeping bags and pillows in. It looks like it'll be hard to close with extra stuff in there but I'll try to make a video soon of the whole setup really detailed and try it.
I'm not sure. We camped this weekend and it was super windy. I ended up rolling it up at like 2 am because it was flapping like crazy but I didn't think to look if it was removeable
I don’t know they weight off hand, its pretty heavy but I was able to get it on by myself with a little creativity. I only lost about 1-2 mpg after putting on the whole rack, tent and awning. I wouldn’t say it handles badly at all but you can feel the weight a little.
Just as an update I’ve had the tent on for a while now and I did lose 1-2mpg but this has the 3.0 diesel in it so I was still averaging around 25 mpg. I did however just put some mud tires and new wheel on so I’m down to around 20 with the whole setup now.
According to the listing it says 196 lbs. I was able to get it up on the rack by myself with a little creativity and stubbornness but it definitely felt like it was every bit of it.
