The casting was perfect. It actually bothered MOST of the black community that it bothered Kim. It was actually really sad to me. Maybe they didn't write her well but Ms.Naughton played the character VERY well.

I met Naturi at the Brooklyn Bridge Hop Festival a few years back. I approached her and asked her to take a selfie with me and without hesitation she took the picture with me and was honestly a very sweet and kind person. I wish her nothing but the best because of her humility.

Colorism is tricky and I am sure Naturi is aware of this. Hollywood has a habit of using dark skinned women to play the "black sheep" or villian of the film. If Faith Evans could find an actress that looked just like AND could sing, they could find someone who looked more like Lil Kim. I think we all know that Kim suffers from body dysmophia and obviously this would be triggering for her. Unfortunately, Naturi had to take Lil Kim's wrath, because Black women tend to attack each other rather than the MEN that are typically behind these things.

NATURI fully BODIED that role as Lil Kim! 💯🙌🏾💪🏾 I remember watching it in theaters and saying 'wow, nobody could have done this better'. Lil' Kim is reminded of her trauma every time she sees the darker skinned version of herself. I hate her reaction for both of these women. I'm glad that Naturi isn't willing to trash Kim. Lil' Kim was also upset because they portrayed Kim as a random side chick, and she wasn't.

(Not to argue with anyone) JMO, I think Kim should've been considered while making this film. From what I understand this was all Mrs. Wallace and Faith's doing. (leaving her out the process). Lil Kim has a right to feel the way she did. While Naturi is cool I honestly did not think that was the roll for her. The girl that played Faith closely resembled her, but musically her performance was off. Any music performed in the movie was out of sync. Angela bassett damn sure wasn't giving Mrs. Wallace but hey it is what it is. The only two people that truly resembled who they were playing was Jamal Woodard and CJ Wallace.

She did amazing as Lil Kim, really captured her essence. Kim is a self hater though, she only mad because Naturi isn’t light skinned or an other.
