Having the steering reach makes it a tick for the dmax for me. For us taller dudes it's crappy having your seat back to get the legroom only to find the wheel is not within comfortable reach!!! Should have been standard on all vehicles for at least the last 10 years.

I got the Pro 4x instead of the Dmax and Triton. It looks better and suites my needs for a ute. There's no perfect ute, all have their pros and cons, base your choice on what you gonna do with it and enjoy.

If you are serious about off-roading then you should also view the test done by this channel on the off-road capabilities comparing 12 utes/bakkies, where the D-MAX really loses out to the Navara and many others due to its poor traction control.

After watching this presenter's videos, I find a bias towards the Ranger. They are probably great, but all the rangers from the mid to late 2010's we used at work had a lot of reliability issues and sounded like tractors after a few years in the mines.

The comparison that I've been waiting for quite some time. Both are really good, but gotta pick one. I'd go for DMAX 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 though Navara still the better choice from most of the people here in the Philippines just because of the comfortable ride due to coil springs.

Navara - Not reliable ? do you own an D23 NP300 ? I do and have for 5 years....did it's first 120Ks inside 2 years and done another 40 in the last 3 and never had any issues with it. Never broken down, never failed to start, never thrown a code. 1 battery and 1 set of discs and pads (which I chose to change to upgrade ayway). Going strong still. Still comfortable, still drives like new, still quick off the mark. Only deterioration is the leather on the drive seat bum area on the part I lean on the get in and out has cracked. That was probably due to me not conditioning the leather enough.

Many people look at these cars as their daily for around town and a bit off-roading. But when you go through red dirt all the time you realise you need something simple and thats why it was easy for me to buy a Navara. Its just simple whether onroad or off-road. The Hilux wollows around and skips over bumps I the rear it was a bit disappointing and to be honest It felt 90% similiar to a 2014 Hilux we had so the platform hadn't changed alot

As a reviewer I think your clips second to none but as a reviewer you don't want to offend anyone so you spend most of you time on the fence this is a shame. Verdicts Outside subjective up to the individual so on the fence. Inside D-max but an option for Navara so on the fence. Infotainment no real verdict. Safety no real verdict. Driving Navara with no buts well done. Overall to the D-Max but again lets no offend any one so because of the wait go the Navara.

Quoted $71k for a Pro 4 X, and $68 for an STX. Dealership laughed at the sunroof option and said it wasn't possible due to COVID. Ended up at the Isuzu dealership later that day for an X terrain $62,200 drive away. Isuzu had a shorter lead time ( July v August) so it really was a simple as that!

I brought a 2022 st navara over the Ls dmax i drove them back to back and prefered the interior of the dmax over the navara by far but prefered the more quite cabin that the navara has. When it came to the engines I felt the dmax was zippy of the line but under powered for a 3ltr and it had nothing more to give at its top end range. As the navara was abit sluggish off the mark it had alot more to give top end which i prefer when traveling if i need to pull out and pass i felt alot safer and comfortable with the navaras performance.

I test drove both and found the camera quality in the navara to be made from an old potato. Bought the X terrain. One major concern though with the Dmax is the lane prevention “safety feature”. It’s seriously aggressive and will pull you back into your lane if you don’t use your indicators to unlock it. So what you say?? Imagine a tree branch on the road in a bend, cyclist(s) or any other anomalies that you might not be quick enough to hit your indicator before you make an emergency swerve. It’s down right dangerous. The first thing I do when I get going is to disarm it.

Had a look at both on the weekend, and I love and hate things about each of them. Admittedly the dmax was an LS-U and Navara was an STX but same flavour none the less. Hi, I'm not sure if the suspensions and things like that differ depending on your area but at least in my country (El Salvador) I tested both pick ups (on some others) because I was looking for a daily driving car that I can use for off road or light work on weekends, I tried both and in the city, the Navara was far more comfy than the D-Max, the Isuzu felt in some road imperfections like an old Toyota Hilux and even if the interior itself was more luxurious and comfortable, when I drove it, it felt like a regular work car, not as premium as it looks while the Navara was a lot smoother. I bought the Navara because it's not going to be use as a working car everyday so the city ride was my priority and it felt far better on the Navara but I'm still in love with the Isuzu interior 🤣 at least here you can change many of those piano black pieces for a "wood" piece (it doesn't feel like real wood but it looks really great)

Navara, because the traction control works upfront with diff engaged. Isusu traction is almost non-existant. The 7spd should own the Isuzu past 120kmph, look at the ratios of the two. The navara will pull harder at illegal speeds. I use mine for off road fun and to commute between my construction sites, hardly loaded with anything heavy. It is most comfy at the back for my kids and smoother. I wasnt looking at features and what not, there are SUVs for that.

From up in Far North Queensland, our roads are horribly maintained (so potholes every wet season) and off roading/camping is the norm. From that country lifestyle perspective the Navara wins in my opinion, sometimes simpler is better when your looking for a practical ute. Dont get me wrong, the dmax is also a great choice but when i have to get into a ute, covered in dust/mud/rain im going to feel less guilty in a navara than the dmax, at a certain point the fancy flush nature of the interior contradicts the hard working nature of the ute (difference between poser and worker). For me the 360 camera is a huge plus for off roading on tight tracks. Overall I think they're both top market models for people looking to actually use the ute and not just drive around the cities looking "cool". It'll all come down to personal preference for the interior. Dmax is rather modern which some might like and the navara has a way simpler approach all be it with a more archaic design with all the buttons. What i've done is purchased Black Duck seat covers for my navara which adds less concern for the integrity of the original leather covers and of course the standard front dash mat. Still plan on giving it an ARB bullbar and rear bumper to really give it the edge offroad. Would also look great on the dmax. Lastly just to quote someone from another video review, take the quote how you like to... "Looks better than the Toyota Hijack, I mean Toyota Hilux and will outlive a Ford Recall, I mean Ford Ranger"

0-100km/h if you go by the analog display rather than the digital display the DMax is quicker. So test is not very accurate IMO

Engine i think Nissan is more better but body chassis Isuzu D-MAX is more better harder, for family comfortable both same but for offroad convenience better Nissan fuel economy consumption is Isuzu D-MAX so i see Isuzu D-MAX more better for offroad but Nissan better in highway terrain

I love all the comments about towing so many tonne, if you want to tow so much crap, buy a dual cab truck, that’s right dual cab trucks have all the bells and whistles and come in 4x4, but if you want a run about to go to the tip or carry the kids bikes to do a bit of camping, buy a ladies pick up like hilux, Navara, ranger, GWM, LDV, triton, amorok, otherwise have a coke and smile and buy a fking Ram 2500.

I cant get my head around why anyone would buy one of these "up spec" utes. I went the base SL navara which has everything you need and nothing you dont and I got it drive away for 20k less then these asking prices. With the money saved I have built the vehicle up into exactly what I want it to be with money spare. But hey, no fancy stickers...

If those were offered in the US, I’d chose the DMax. Nissan has a really bad reputation in the US for selling subpar cars to those that can’t afford anything else.

Nav for me mate. The local Isuzu dealer lost me with crappy finance options and average service so I walked over the road and bought a Navara. Their service is spot on and the cars the comfiest ride over all of the leaf sprung utes I drove before hand. Oh and pretty much 7l/100kms after a month in the real world

Nice one paul all though I think you’re missing the point. Which is that people don’t buy these cars as work Ute’s! any more but more as an everyday car use for towing and go to “the shop car” the dmax wins hands down…. I have one (dmax)and it’s not a work Ute…. I can tell you….

I’ve had both utes as work vehicles and didn’t like either, another company gave me a Ssanyong musso and I actually preferred it over both of them however at the dealership I got rubbish service from the Isuzu/ Ssanyong dealers I had to deal with for servicing etc. as a personal Ute if I was paying I’d go Hilux or Ranger, they’re both just better utes in general and obviously the price tags reflect this.

Trying to work out why you placed so much emphasis on the engine sounding like a diesel, or intrusive into the cabin. If we were talking about s luxury car you might have a valid point but they are a work horse ute with up spec interior's. Being too isolated means you miss something if it goes pear shaped. It part of "driving" the vehicle and driving the vehicle.

I bought the Navara over the Dmax - arrives at the dealer tomorrow. They have upgraded the drivers seat to powered, and I think it looks better from the outside, although the dmax has a better interior. Also I was persuaded due to the special deals Nissan was offering at the time which made the Navara about 10k cheaper overall than the Max

From my experience - Nissan though private, have a public service mindset. They follow but don't lead. They claim innovation which is a rebranding of something old. When they claim it is easy- you always roll your eyes because it definitely isn't. I can't understand how, as innovative as Japanese are, can carry on a leadership team in Nissan that lack vision and innovation and somehow get it all wrong most of the time. Given the potential, it defies logic.

I picked a bt50 over both. Lol. Best car ever. Looks great and has the Isuzu reliability. I’ve driven old Nissans, definitely don’t have any faith in them in the long run.

I went for the Navara, as when I went and test drove the dmax at two different yards both told me they wouldn’t even bother taking my name as the wait time was so long. So what the interior is nicer in the dmax but that’s what the wife’s suv is for, long trips in comfort. I use my Ute for work and can still take a family of four to the beach in reasonable style. Plus the Navara looks heaps tougher on the road.

@@anthonymurphy6529 mate, Navaras are fine. My np300 has done 280K and no major issues at all. Literally only reason I've ordered a dmax is because they removed those blasted drink holders in the new nav. But other wise can't beat the coils and flex ability when offroading, also they rebound off corrugations alot better than leaf springs so you dont "dance" around graval roads. Will miss the nav and would buy another for sure. I'd argue they would outperform a dmax off road with the coil benefits. But I'm keen to get in new dmax.
