Own a 2023 Model D-Max and have loved it since day one. Handles extremely well and tows my trailer flawlessly and a pressure washing trailer fully loaded without issue.
Fair test well done. The Triton will be better with its first upgrade. I think the Superselect AWD puts the Triton in elite company for safety in slippery conditions.
Got a triton GSR a few weeks ago. Love it, except for the driver monitoring system which is a pain in the arse. I am 6 foot 4 so room is at a premium. Didn’t pick the Isuzu purely because I found the Triton roomier
Isuzu for me. It's likely at the end of the line for this version before a full update. The new Triton is just in its infancy of life cycle, hence expect improvements in it's life cycle down the line.
Kinda agree with the crew’s observation. Triton sounds noisy from the outside, specially when the AC compressor kicks in. The 4JJ3 on the dmax idles very well compared to the older 4JJ1s.
I drove both, and ended up buying a Mazda BT50 Thunder, which of course is a re-badged D-Max, but with a better degree of interior finish and a company that is actually pretty good to deal with.
Just did the whole “test drive every ute” thing. Really liked the Triton. They are being sold at significant discounts for demos much cheaper than the demax. However the 2024 demax felt better to drive and I felt more comfortable with it (tritons suspension driven back to back was much worst). Also these reviews never mention the demax bump steer issue. It’s a real thing and supposedly fixed in the 2024 model, but we won’t really know for a while yet will we? What did I buy? A Navara Warrior. Yes it’s an older platform but it cost the same and had essentially $10k worth of off-road mods already done. It’s really great value for money and you have the peace of mind that all issues have been ironed out.
In China there is a LWB version of the Isuzu called Taga Daka H it is 400mm longer more space in the back and in the loadbin. I wish Isuzu offered this version everywhere as I would love the space in the back...
Issue I think is the unfair reviews that have done the rounds. Quite a few were bias towards the Ranger (stop me if you've heard that before) and the others saying it was more or less slightly better than the model it replaced. Fact is the new Tritons are actually surprisingly far superior to the older model and a good alternative to the likes of a Dmax. But nobody wants to admit it....enjoy yours. They're actually really good!!
@Mochabear85 I agree most reviewers are extremely biased, it seems like some are also paid off by ford. You can't go 1 minute into a review without hearing about a v6 ranger. Then they will throw in the ranger can tow 3.5 tonnes. Every triton review is a commercial for ford rangers. Car expert says the ford offers the best value for money despite being the most expensive, you know when someone is bribed. Since then he had to change the transfer case in his v6 ranger , but that does not matter because ford is paying.
@@warcrabcyber9908 don't get me started on the carexpert review. All the supposed "issues" off road they had came down to user error, it was pretty obvious that they were using the Super Select II system wrong with the whole it won't switch to certain modes, but they just went ahead and said the system doesn't work well at all and the ute was no good off road. I actually got the new GSR Triton before most of the media did their "review" and cannot agree with many of them. Im usually a big fan of Rangers, but credit where it's due, the new Tritons are awesome little weapons.
The triton has a much better awd system , you can drive in full time 4wd at highway speeds making it safer on wet roads The dmax has that same issue as the d40 navara where it easily spins out on wet roads. The x terrain dmax is also more expensive than a triton. But missing features. The ford ranger may be expensive and unreliable, but it has full time 4wd on the v6 model.
@666dualsport no you can't, on the hilux you can't drive over 40kmph in 4h , neither the dmax , unless you want your transfer case to be in bits and pieces on the road On the triton you can drive at any speed in 4h , as well as the v6 ranger. This is what full time awd means.
If you know how to drive, you wont spin out and if its an oil slick 4WD wont save you... That annoying driver alert mode in the triton would make me want to drive it off a cliff.
@__PJ__ every new vehicle has driver alert , it's part of ancap 2024 new saftey rating, so good luck with any new vehicle you buy. If you know how to drive ? This does not make any sense , knowing how to drive has nothing to do with poor traction on wet roads. You can be an expert and still lose control.
@@warcrabcyber9908 Did you watch the review ? The Dmax doesn't have the driver alert BS that the Triton has on the steering wheel.. and not all new cars have it either. ANCAP is a joke it was created when we actually manufactured cars in Australia to keep them as safe as possible, now they just jam tech into cars that dont need it distracting the drivers as they madly try to turn them off as they roar down the road... ANCAP are just trying to justify there existence with junk "saftey " tech like that rubbish that doesnt recognise sunglasses!!! As a truck driver ive seen systems that work ( Volvo ) as they are maditory in heavy vehicles. It was rushed by Mitsubishi.
I ordered my X-Terrain back in June, still waiting.. Same silver as the one you drove which is nice to see. Don't like the infotainment on the Triton looks like its slapped on at the last second like Mazda have done for years in most of their cars... Fulltime 4WD would be nice but i want the dependability and better looks of the Isuzu . Good review.
Best review on the net. Real world usage - on the road w family. I’d pick the Isuzu as it has a 3L single turbo under less stress. Twin turbo WILL BE PROBLEMATIC.
Well put. You nailed it. What an excellent review. It's good to note that there are still good reliable options in trucks beside Toyota. I can't wait for off road comparison. Thanks for the video. 10/10.
I can try and remember to come back and provide an update. I’ve got the new X-Terrain, just done 1000kms. If it’s not fixed, I should be able to see after about 8-10000kms some have said
Absolutely prefer the Isuzu. Here in South Africa, the Triton is such a non starter, they sell a few units a month while the Isuzu sells 1000's per month.
Just because isuzu sells a lot doesn't mean its better. Full time 4wd would be ideal in africa and the calsonic AC coldest in its class would gives you comfort in extreme heat. Got my triton last 2 months and to my experience it's better than isuzu and hilux. Test drive all the brands first before you conclude something.
As an added feature though, I got my x terrain with wireless charging 2 days ago. So far so good, absolute cracker to drive. I’ve noticed though I had trouble connecting to apple CarPlay, but all I had to do was connect to my phone through apple CarPlay settings. It wasn’t a big deal
Mitsubishi triton GSR 2024 is the best pick up truck today in the world as the world champion rally cross country off-road winner, it affordable price, lower maintenance cost and service, got 10 years warranty, better handling ultimate driving performance, better technology in safety features, advance gearbox transmission, easier for off-road beginners, have differential lock push button, fuel efficiency engine technology euro blue, comfortable cabin, best for cornering maneuvering sliding drifting.inteligent engineering, futuristic engine and frame design.
It would have been much better if you had driven the two utes in offroad. That way, we could choose which one is better than the other. Using their physical appearance and its engine size doesn't make the other look good and excellent.
Nonsensical to review a 4x4 without an off road test and your justification is inconsistent with your reviews of other types of vehicles. Let's take the Porsche Carrera as an example, most buyers do not take their Carrera to track days yet your review includes a track component. Please stop with the bull dust and review 4x4 vehicles correctly.
The classifieds are littered with GLS and GSR tritons at low to mid 50's for GLS and 59-60 on the GSR driveaway. As dealer i spoke with said they are struggling to sell them. Such shit vehicles for the City, unless you absolutely need a UTE, so many better options.
