Fr every parasitic ass pos leaf fan who ever said anything negative about him better hold that same energy when he brings his well deserved trophy back home. The guy has always been him.
Gotta love it, been right there with him since he made the Leafs team, you can always see when you have that kind of heart combined with other skills, it's only a matter of time.
Maybe if grapes showed even a fucking ounce of respect to him over the years, things would've been different. Maybe not, but I certainly don't blame Maclean at all and I'm a huge fan of Grapes.
@@RepublicofODLUM Grapes told the CBC he would walk if they didn't renew MacLeans's contract every time Grapes renewed his. If that isn't loyalty, I don't know what is. Something that Maclean knows nothing about. Spineless coward
I'm very happy for Naz. What a great year and playoffs. Him being a liability maybe is true but Avs managed it with having guys around him to help him. That is the difference b/w Sakic and Dubas. How many times did we see Rantanen and McKinnon talking to Kadri on the bench after a tough shift or whenever they had a lead in the game. This is called teamwork.
Joe Sakic has a well-deserved, sterling reputation as a smart, class act. Perhaps Naz was able to internalize a message from him when others didn’t have that connection.
@@jayus2033 the leafs have gotten eliminated 6 times in a row, can guarantee that wouldn't be the case if Kadri wasn't the only guy showing any semblance of heart in those series
Congrats to Kadri for winning the Cup and his upcoming huge pay raise! Also, great getting to listen to Don telling it straight like only he could. HNIC has never been the same without him.
I liked Grapes a lot too. I would have liked even more if he just said a simple apology after his comments the last time he was on. Everybody would have forgave him.
@@cgreeneblue he should not have apologized, and they never gave him a chance too. They fired him the next day, and never gave him a platform to explain his words, which were not at all worth the controversy. Not even a little. They also would not have forgiven him. The people who were "upset", by his comments, were not looking for an apology. They wanted him gone, and they got it. Absolute shame. Don was the only thing keeping HNIC entertaining.
I want Naz to rent out the ACC (Scotiabank whatever) and have a huge fucking parade of people come in for a meet and greet with him and the cup, do it Naz! Well deserved cup win, more heart and soul than all current Leafs combined.
Naz Kadri's 2022 season was one of the best (and worst) sports stories in recent memory. Hope we can find a way to keep him because we absolutely LOVE him here.
Avs fan here, I absolutely love Naz. I've come to terms with the fact that they won't be able to keep him because that man has played on team friendly contracts his entire career and he deserves to get paid. Dude has had some boneheaded plays in his career but he's a heart and soul player for his team, dude gives everything he can and he seems like an awesome person. Would love if the Avs could keep him but he deserves the big paycheck.
We lost him because of his heart. We replaced him for Kerfoot. Not replaceable and was very affordable. Don gets no credit. He bashed him and the leafs but everyone forgets. You want a player on your team that will sacrifice his head for a cup.
@@Xeteh as a hater of Xeteh, please reconsider typing "as an avs fan" before a generic comment that anyone with half a brain could realize you are an avs fan.
Should never have been traded. Leafs should have rallied around Kadri, instead management blamed him for the team's shortcomings. Funny Dubas got six chances while Kadri got two.
@@Alan20888 yes, but their change was legal. Both guys going off were within 5 feet of the bench when their replacements came on, whereas Mackinnon was still at least 40 feet from the bench when Kadri jumped on. Huge difference.
The only good thing the Leafs did to Naz was trade em. That organization almost ruined this mans life. Grapes honestly saved his career on coaches corner. I remember all of these.
I truly miss Mr. Canada.....Don Cherry. His analysis was spot on almost always. And so was his analysis of immigrants for what got him fired. And I say this as an immigrant myself.
@friendsxfamily that's a great point. Goes to show people who speak the truth but/and who are blunt are always at fault. There is a former President also who acts this way.
Don Cherry has always been championing Nazem Kadri, yeah I don't like some of things Don has said before but tbh he def shouldn't have been kicked off the air.
I know the point Don was making and i agree with it ... but i think if he would have phrased it differently there wouldn't have been the backlash and to think Don saved MacLean's job not once but twice and then the weasel goes and throws his good friend under the bus to save your own skin ... what a coward ...
If Don saw Naz without a poppy he'd call him "those people" too lol He doesn't think Europeans and college kids should get the same opportunity as "Ontario kids" which are just usually means the kids from travel who had more resources. Don said so much negative stuff about mats sundin all because he was Swedish. On multiple occasions said Swedish players were soft and basically cowards and shouldnt lead teams.. Class act alright lol
@@THIS---GUY I think all you sensitive people are missing Don's point ... he is a big supporter of vets and he thinks that immigrants that come to Canada to make a better life for themselves and their families should respect our culture and traditions and it's up Canadians to set a good example ... so support our VETS by buying a poppy ... it's just too bad Don speaks without really thinking ... and yes Don is a bit prejudice when it comes to Canadian hockey player over Europeans or Russians hockey players ...
@@gd3369 Don only makes a big deal about minorities who don't wear poppies lol he doesn't care about all the white people who don't wear them or show respect to vetrans. I was an assistance sup at a factory of 800 people and another that had 1000. 99% typical canadian workforce (they seemingly refused to hire any indians, middle eastern people, native americans, or africans even though my city has a big population of new canadians qnd tons of them apply but will happily hire clear drug addicts or people with a bad work history) and the vast majority of them didn't wear a poppy. Most people at the university I attended did not wear poppies. Rememberance day events are at an all time low for involvement it's all Canadians not just minorities but a ra cist would make it seem like its only minorites .
When Toronto Raptors won the championship in 2019 Kadri was the ONLY Maple Leaf who attended the celebration parade and when they interviewed him on TV he said he wanted to experience it for motivation to win. To feel what it's like to be around winners and to feel what winning a championship is like. I'm a Buffalo Sabres fan, NEVER liked the Leafs but I said to myself that day..."this guy is a true champion, he's going to win one day"...glad he got his with another team. Not surprised no other Leafs went to the Raptors parade and none of em are champions ..it's all about the mind state
Very happy for Naz. More proof if a Leaf wants to win the cup he has to do it with any other team than Toronto. Just ask Kessel, Bozak and Stamkos ("Nice offer, but I'll stay with Tampa, thanks).
An avid Avs fan who has been a Naz fan since he started with the Leafs. Tickled when Sakic gave him a "chance" to shine. Have been arguing with myself why I wouldn't get my first Avs sweater with Kadri on the back over all the other worthies ... even if it was only for a season. His team energy epitomized what it takes to win. And then there's Don telling all those people the truth(s) they don't want to hear.
Grapes told it like it was regardless of race. One of the earliest victims of the rampant cancel culture that has thankfully calmed down in recent years. Unfortunate that such a great part of hockey history was sidelined due to politics gone wild.
What's unfortunate is that not only do all the guys that Grapes is calling out have their jobs but they practice subtle racism, rather than Grape's bombastic yet sincere habit of putting his foot in his mouth. Grapes saw through the "nasty habits" excuse as a prejudiced ace card to mothball Nazim; it's akin to the province of Quebec saying they "weren't ready" to vote for a politician like Jagmeet Singh. We all know why they "weren't ready".
And to think Grapes got fired for allegedly “racist” remarks, just shows Don didn’t give a shit about what your background is, if you’re skilled enough you should be in the NHL, and if you’re NHL caliber, you should act a certain way, like a professional, the Don way. Younger people get offended by the way our elders see the world, maybe the youngins have it wrong.
the guy isn't a racist through and through but he has a bad habit of bashing people because of their nationality. In the 90s he was hyper critical of every russian and european that came over, and his comments about immigrants were out of line tbh. still love the guy tho
I miss Don Cherry. Sometimes he sounded like a nutjob, but the man always spoke the truth. Everyone's living in a fantasy world and when the truth doesn't line up with the fantasy, you have to lose your job..
"Sometimes" Nah brother, that was all the time. and even then in his early days he sounded normal. The man didn't speak the truth, he spoke what he thought was true and he was often wrong. And damn, I didn't know reality is a fantasy...
Mr. Cherry called it!.. I miss ' Coach's Corner ' with his analysis of the game, plays and players to watch he was very entertaining. This was pretty cool to see and hear the dapper dan again even if it were a couple of clips put together thank you for this. I am not an avid watcher of hockey, but I will watch the games if I catch them or watch the highlights and the finals. ( I do love some competitive sports which display skills, teamwork, team story and the individual player with a high IQ for their sport ) I knew nothing about the Aves until Kadri got traded there. I felt that it was a loss for the Leafs as well as it could be a blessing for him. So I did what any sports fan would do, started cheering for Kadri and the Aves to win the Stanley 🏆 🤗 and they did! To my delight, so many Canadian players were on the team and were influential in the journey leading up to the team's victory. This was nice to watch
I am happy for Naz. Avs won that trade with the Leafs. I say this as a Leafs fan. Also, I think Don Cherry's consistent support of Kadri proves the man is not racist.
Naz is and anyways has been the complete package. The only knock on him is the fact that he’s a Tom Wilson level dirty player, and so you as management have to worry about his hot head causing him to miss playing time by being suspended and taking 5min majors. If he cut the crap he’d be an 80+ point guy every single year.
You’ll never get commentary like this on HNIC ever again, everything has to be painfully safe and polite. None of them would ever have the spine to call the Leafs front office stupid to their face
Cherry should still have a job and everything he said in this take was right. Kadri should’ve came in after his first AHL season with an outstanding showing. The leafs were not good so you can’t tell me or anyone that he wasn’t good enough for the leafs at that time.
really? thats how u see it? whos the first jewish guy on the cup then? what about first hindu guy? buddist? seventh day adventist? what about mormon? if he's the first muslim, my question is, why did allah take so goddamn long?🤣..no one gives a shiite buddy, park the religion
