NBA Live 18 Review 

The game isnt that bad, and most importantly NO VC, you can actually play and not worry about micro transactions being rammed down your throat.

Lives the one mode is better than NBA 2ks my career. Ppl don't realize that neighborhood is just to get you to buy more Vc. Lives the one feels like 2k11 when you had to grind to make your player better. Makes for a better mode.

I have NBA Live 18 & owned every 2K since Dreamcast, I would say that Live this year is at least a 7.5 minimum. I agree on poor AI, presentation thats good but feels dated, lack of crowd chants & arena sounds at games, the WNBA game feels tacked on... Why does Skylar Diggins-Smith have Candace Parker face? This was a step in the right direction but Live needs to support this game with updates to tweak things like rosters, uniforms & franchise mode

Give Nba Live two more years and they will be up there with 2K

You gave live 18 a 6.5, you gave live 16 a 6. this game is much better than live 16, it should for sure be a 7 or 7.5 because of the improved game play and signature animations, bad rating ign.

Your issue with the transition game sounds like user problems meaning you're pretty much a noob at the game and based on the few short clips in this review I can tell you just try to speed through (R2 button) the entire time. How about try to play the game of basketball meaning run some plays, pass the ball down the post, set some picks, etc.?

6.5 - 7 range is where I'd rank the game too. It's fun to goof around with, but it's starting to get more and more annoying. What the reviewer didn't mention is that the ai is heavily flawed, choosing to constantly attack the rim no matter what, which leads to the game's next issue, WAY TOO MANY BLOCKS! The ai either takes a LOT of circus, playground, 'hero ball' layups which they either miss, or gets blocked.The game lacks general polish, and is extremely limited. There's only 2 jerseys for each team, with NO throwbacks, which I heard 2k already has. Turning off auto subs(which should only effect me, the user) also effects the ai, meaning they WON'T sub out tired players, and play only their starting 5 for the entire game! If the player isn't a star, expect to see a player that looks like a bad cap. It's like they didn't give a crap about how role players look at all. No coach sliders, not enough gameplay sliders, can't create or edit players at all(not even jersey numbers!), c'mon ea! The game feels hollow since it's so limited in options and features. This is the 4th year on next gen consoles, yet we still can't create players or change the roster! Live 19 better have so much content that it explodes out of the game case, because if it's lacking THIS much as 18, they won't get another dollar from me, even at $35.

I would give this game a 7.8 a 6.5 is not fair to the hard work ea put into this game.

They need to review this again. This game has gotten better with all patches and updates.

under 10 bucks right now on xbox one with Gold. I just wanna play basketball without complicated controls and such. Seems like I can get past the flaws just to scratch the itch and cheaply at that without VC overload.

wow this game is way better than a 6.5, did he actually play the live demo or actually play a full game in the league or streets, at least you are limited to using VC to buy everything in 2k, the neighborhood is just one big area of basketball courts where as NBALIVE18 actually lets u play online on different street courts like NBA Street used to do, make a NbaStreet19 game one day, i bought Nbalive18 full game and loving every minute of it Ign staff don't know what they talking about and where is Naomi she would have done a better review of the game

So basically in summary, it feels like a basketball game suppose to and players play like they would in real life but due to not enough game modes it lacks variety. Hmmmmmm! Sounds like a 8.5 to me. If you get basketball right in a basketball game enough said. Take notes 2k.

Live 18 isn't where it needs to be but it is on the right track. I'd give it one more year and they'd probably be up there with 2k

This game is just a stepping stone for the future of the NBA live series. I expect to see alot more features and animations in next year's game.

The commentary has gotten way better. It’s very similar to 2k’s. Longer dialogue, less gaps in speech. Van gundy gives background info on payers etc. arena sounds play very often like in real life. Every time down court the away teams get variations of defense chants. While home teams get authentic music/sounds that play like lets go cavs! The game gives you full control of your players. Yeah there’s still a lot to get fixed with live, but in terms of fun it’s head and shoulders above 2k. And I’ve been playing 2k since the first one.

Congrats. you did the easy thing which is to hate on live, it's improvements to its predecessors is impossible not to recognize, it's very good and much better than a 6.5

you can play with friends online in head to head if you both select your team at the same time.

If Live adds a mode where I can play Pro Am with my friends then that would be a meaningful addition. I understand the Live events should give that feel but it doesn't quite deliver. They should add 3v3 matches and allow players to be kicked who are unresponsive. I agree they are lacking in the animations area especially when it comes to contact. Another annoyance is that I have a difficult time performing a pullup jumper, my player will go into a layup animation. Also, please put Hoodie Melo in the Live even!

Franchise mode got nerfed in all the wrong ways, cant edit my players. It lacks depth.

Get a squad to play the streets with and you will have so much fun on this game getting your guy to 99ovr.

One of my favorite features over the years from 2K has been the ability to play with the all time great teams and players (Jordan, Bird, their respective classic teams, etc). Does Live offer anything like that??

Solid 3 minute review

This game is much deeper than a 3m32sec video. This was a rushed and poorly done review of game which has a lot more depth than the what is explained in this review.

Wow a 6.5 are u freaking kidding me!!!... it's obvious they haven't played this game longer than 5 minutes to dig deeper... this game is very deep especially with the things you can unlock and new events always being added... plus this game is pre patched and it's still good... but somehow you gave 2K18 a 9.1 tho huh ... when they have plenty problems right now many consumers are complaining about that 2k18 and calling it trash....so that lets me know y'all are in bed with 2K... this was definitely not a fair verdict for how good this game is... I give it at least 7.5 or 8... but a 6.5 come on IGN get off that BS

live 18 is a big improvement over the older nba lives...2 me it's way better than 2k18 this year .. people are just stuck on 2k cuz it's been out forever w/o no competition... I'm very impressed with NBA live 18 for what they offer this year...only thing this game need is a unranked head2head mode and cleaner menus and we all good Damm shame y'all gave this game a 6.5 cuz it really deserve more..SMH datz why I never go on TRASH game reviews until I play a game myself... real talk

It was something new, seen my child play NBA Live 16 via EA Access so it seemed okay he played half a season of "the one".

i have both 2k and live this year and honestly they’re really good in there own ways . When i feel like playing an arcade style basketball game nba live is the perfect fit and when i wanna play a little more competitively i play 2k.

Ok so...since you can't just blow past every defender that's points taken away? it's something called defense. Lol I love the defense on NBA live 18...and people who're complaining about too many blocks...I feel like 2k doesn't have enough blocks. Y'all remember when you couldn't block dunks at all on 2k12??

If NBA live would just get it's animation right, it would be better than 2k. Presentation and player's faces are way better than 2k.

I'm enjoying NBA live 18. This is the first time in 15 years I didn't buy 2k. 2K and it's stupid role player archetypes can go to the devil. I'm not interested in being a role player.

NBA Live 18 is better: - I love The Legend Mode, especially with "First Take" Videos vom Stephen A Smith - i love how you HAVE to interact with the press, the coach and so on to get bonus EP, Hype or other points that matters - i love how you evolve your player - i dont like that you have only 5 main abilities spots....you get way more abilities but you cant use them and it is restricted to the position...i want a PG like Magic Johnson...you can pass, shot, go the basket, rebounds and shoot 3s....but you cannot chose that style of player....only "play like Curry" or like "Westbrook". That could be better - the game is not that fluid like it is in 2k...and many things you dont have control over. its like you tap 3 buttons and the animations starts...hmm - the visuals are not close to 2k (the game is just 36GB...says alls) - the loading screens are terrible, even if you switch from a player statistic to lets say the settings...it takes hours... but the all around is way better and sure, the gameplay is cool, but 2k has or had a better one...but thats the right step... in 2k myplayer mode, NOBODY read the interviews or the social media things...here in NBA Live, they are important and if you dont read them, that lowers your chance to become a great baller. To EA: work on the gameplay, the visuals and the loading speed and you would have the best NBA game since 2k11 with their Jordan challenges. Anyway, i recommend it if you wanna have fun and try something P.S.: My first NBA Live since the glory days of NBA LIVE 2003. From 2009 to 2017 every year i got the 2k version. Not this year

The game is def a 7.5 at best but my biggest complaint is the roster needs to be updated asap. I downloaded the latest patch the day after Melo got traded to OKC and the roster still hasn't reflected that yet

also played franchise they defiantly could add the edit option to expand if they choose to the system is unreal regardless...
