People were brutal back then. What happened to Scottie was nothing unusual. Hakeem had a bone on bone knee bruise but still played like a man as he didn't want to go out showing his last moment for the day as limping. What a game... 🔥🔥🔥
The Rockets never recovered from squandering a winnable game 1 in which they led late and actually had the ball with seconds left before disaster ensued
Imagine if Drexler hadn't retired the season before. Imagine if this Lakers team had made it work with Rodman earlier in the year. A lot of "What ifs" with these 2 teams.
Man back when basketball was so much fun to watch, when its played the right way with defense and running offensive playing having ball movement and utilizing the bigs down on the post to keep defenders in check. Glad i was able to witness the nba at its prime. I love this game soo much, but todays nba is deplorable to say the least🤦🏽
@@Trancymind Everytime I hear Pippen aka Bron Stan’s say MJ is 1-9 without Pippen in the playoffs, I say Pippen is 0-4 in playoff series against Kobe, LMAO 😂🤣.
@@SelevanRsCLosing 4 straight years against the same team really dented Pippens career. No wonder Pippen is a very bitter man to this day that made enemies to his former teammates including Jordan.
This series here...The Lakers with Shaq, Kobe, Rodman and Kurt Rambis as the HC?! The Rockets with The Dream, Barkley and Pippen?! That weird, shortened 1999 season was wild AF!
The Rockets were in a period where they should have broke up there big 3 team a lot sooner. They needed better ball handlers, along with more 3 point shooters. Scottie Pippen had ball control for the majority of the time during that season, and he was not making too much use of it. The Rockets also made some trades to acquire Steve Francis the next season to help with their ball handling/3 point shooting issues.
I wanted Houston to win that series cause that team with Pippen Olajuwon and Barkley look like a championship lock in 1999, but San Antonio was on the mission and swept that Lakers team and Portland but should of swept New York and still in five games.
The unceremonious final game of Scottie Pippen as a Rocket. Can’t totally blame him. He’s accustomed to motion-oriented triangle then struggled to oft-stagnant post plays. He wants to be the centerpiece, but obviously it is still Hakeem.
Seeing D. Fish break someone’s ankles is hilarious. My man actually had moves at one point. Don’t get me wrong I always loved Fisher as a lakers fan but he’s notoriously slow as hell.
no matter how hard Stern tried to promo Shaq and Kobe, people didnt give a crap post MJ and ratings fell further and further, Carter probably increased them a smidge again in 2000s
Plus with the crooked refs on his payroll favoring a lot of lakers, sixers , Toronto ( i guess Vince Carter) games didn’t help Jack with ratings in fact made it worse
The arrival of LeBron James became the future of the nba, over 2 decades later he still here, one of the last players from the early 2000s still playing was drafted in 2003 which was the early 00s but the end of it, 2004 was the start of the mid 2000s.
If you remember the NBC was trying to milk the lakers during their championship runs in 2000, 2001 and 2002 they would have the lakers on prime time every week. Then when ABC got the NBC deal they put in a deal where teams could only play so many prime time games a year on the network. Now even in the Sterns defense the rating dropped a little after MJ but not as much as the ratings dropped when the NBA moved from NBC to ABC and the league moving the all star game to cable. Those were the biggest reasons for the ratings falling. ABC / ESPN would put prime time games on ESPN / Cable instead of prime time national TV like NBC would. NBC made sure that NBA games came on network TV and were first priority. NBC would advertise the upcoming prime time game a week in advance of the broadcast of the game. Where as ABC / ESPN wouldn’t even advertise the upcoming nba game and barely promoted them. They would put NBA games on ESPN 2 and prioritize the NFL, MLB over the NBA. There were times ESPN would broadcast an NHL game on ESPN 1 and the NBA game would be on ESPN 2 or a MLB game would run over at ESPN 1 and they would tell fans to turn to ESPNews to see the beginning of the NBA game. It’s was just horrible and their broadcasting on NBA game till today is trash. That was and is the biggest reason for the bad ratings. But the league don’t care as long as Mickey continues to hand over billions to broadcast NBA games the league / Owners don’t care if they are broadcasted on ESPN 20 as long as them billions rolls in.
@@russenterprise6502The Arrival of Lebron ? Kobe,Shaq & IVERSON carried the league in the 2000’s And arguably Steph Curry was the face of the league from 2015 - 2019
bro, he back to back championship! its imposibble to do that with a horrible Offense , 99 team just a bad and old roster against Shaq and KObe near in their Prime , Pip was a horrible Fit for that squad, tho.
Both coincidences that Ben Wallace ended Hakeem career in 02 and then Ben beat Shaq 3 times in the playoffs 04,05, and 07, 06 was Shaq only win again Wallace
