My favorite (94-95) Lakers team in the franchises history to date. And yes i watched the 80s Showtime Lakers to today. Probably the only season in their storied history they wildly overachieved and exceeded expectations.
Nick at night! Incredible confidence down the stretch and into OT to seal the W. This Lakers squad was an underrated group, rookie Eddie Jones showing signs of greatness especially in the 3rd. Ceballos was still awesome around this time, Divac and Campbell on the front line are solid. Robinson the MVP on the other end is a matchup nightmare and his Spurs provide quite the entertaining matchup. Incredible game. Thanks for the post!
It was a crazy playoffs. The most competitive playoffs across the board in the 90s. So many wild comebacks across the board in both games and series. Games: Reggies ridiculous 8 points in 9 seconds in NY. This game here. Orlando down by 8 with less than 3 minutes and then outscoring Chicago 14-0 on the road. Then the ultimate comeback kings, the eventual champion Rockets who were down on the road 1-2 to utah and 1-3 to Phoenix and won a record 5 straight elimination games. Were down by 20 to Orlando in game 1 in the Finals too.
22:43 a sign of the future clashes to come between Van Exel and Del Harris. Harris is on the sidelines screaming to call timeout and Van Exel basically goes: "#*&%^" that I'm taking that shot" 😂😂
😂😂 How could Del not love that though?! Got the W and lived to see another day, Chick is making it sound legendary. Nick was that guy, makes incredible plays on the nightly
robinson wins MVP and thinking this year might b the year with his best team to date...but thats until he runs into a guy named hakeem olajuwon and proceeds to give him a schooling on the game of basketball
@@melvynsngltn27 Spurs' record was misleading, it was mostly Robinson making them look better than they were. He was even slightly better than Hakeem and Shaq in the regular season. Was going for Hakeem/Houston in 95. But Rodman was trash....he compromised the Spurs team and threw Robinson under the bus. And the year before this Karl Malone pimp slapped him in the playoffs there too. Very overrated when Mike and Isiah weren't there to keep him in check. Everyone thinks his career was just Detroit and Chicago. Hakeem and Larry didn't fall for his crap.
@FuShengAlex I agree with you. Hakeem and Houston played great in the playoffs and deserved their championship but the Spurs outside of Robinson was weak offensively
@@melvynsngltn27He had an AMAZING teammate in Terry Cummings, who was an all star before he blew his knee out in the summer of 1992 in a pickup game. Willie Anderson was great before his injuries around 1992-1993.
Van Exel was the most exciting player in the entire league that 94-95 to watch for me. Was he anywhere near the best? Absolutely not! But he made so many big time shots that season. The crazy game winner vs. Boston. Giving GP the business all regular season and in the playoffs.
Look even three point shooters back then had more offensive bag of skills they had in their arsenal than today's three point shooters who can even attack the rim or devise anything when defenses shuts you down.
Did you see the move Campbell put on Robinson? He missed the shot. The Lakers were left scratching their heads back then. Campbell had all the tools to be great. Showed flashes of dominance with La. Lakers my team, good or bad.💯
Lakers blew a couple games in this series! Vlade missed 2 FT’s at the end of regulation in a OT loss. In game 2 i believe? Could’ve easily gone 7 games or the Lakers actually winning the series? If they didn’t miss some opportunities. Anyhow i knew the Spurs couldn’t beat the Rockets after this series!
