Kobe was the reason why I started watching basketball. Watching this dude play amazed the hell out of me. I was about 9 years old when I started playing and watching basketball and I would always look for Kobe's games on TV just to watch him play. I remember when i went to my 1st Laker game. I was so happy that I get to see The Mamba himself play in real time. That moment was one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. I'm now 27 going on to 28. The moment I found out that his death was real, I was in the middle of a restaurant with my cousin and when I read the news headlines saying that "Kobe Died", I thought it was fake. Then I saw it all over the TVs inside the restaurant all on a different channel saying the same story, "Kobe dead in horrible helicopter accident". I looked it up for myself on my phone and the moment I found out it was confirmed I broke down and started crying my eyes out, because I couldn't believe it. The staff and other customers saw that I was crying. I didn't care if I was embarrassing myself or my cousin. All I can feel was a broken heart. The one person who made me love basketball passed away. I may not have been as sad and depressed as Shaq, but all I can say is that watching basketball will never be the same again. Thank you for Kobe for teaching me the game of basketball and loving the game. You may be gone, but never forgotten. I can't wait to hang you and gigi's picture up on my wall. It’s just devastating for anyone who followed Kobe for so long and how he interacts with his fans like they’re family because we are 😭 Sure you say oh others died too but we focus on Bryant since he was very young we all watched him grow up to be a man a husband a father etc and to have that disappear in a unspeakable way it’s just unfortunate we hurt we grieve and we damn as well are in PAIN so ok relax we aren’t saying others weren’t important just that Bryant was a fixture in our hearts as we all bleed when we found out the incident I’m sure lots of us couldn’t believe it I still am thinking this is a bad dream and we will all wake up and he will be alright 😭

For all the Kobe years I was quite accustomed to watching opposing arenas boo Kobe, And Of course I got it, he was a nemesis to the highest degree. I myself chanted KOBE KOBE KOBE all the time. But watching all these areana cheering, chanting KOBE KOBE KOBE after this horrendous thing that happened, just brought tears to my eyes. In the end, it's only a game, much respect to the entire NBA nation for grieving with Kobe's family, and with Laker nation....this tragedy brought us to our knees.
