@@Basket-holesidk about you but me and my friends and teammates didn’t choose basketball to feel safe lol if that was the case we would have played baseball or golf, basketball is just more fun, and is something you can play and practice by yourself you need a minimum of like 6 people to play football or even more for baseball, and then if your good enough to think about pursuing one professionally, it really comes down to 2 factors, you’re either gonna go with the sport your ranked highest in or you’re gonna go with the one the pays more money, in which case baseball and basketball win that battle( for the most part their are some qb’s who get paid more then nba players but only like 3)
@htownborn92
@htownborn92 Месяц назад
Yeah but that’s mainly because basketball pays more and you’re more likely to have a longer career. Not to mention it’s more options and alternatives besides the NBA with the G-League, overseas, and all of these other semi-pro leagues popping up like OTE and JBA. In football you only get big money if you’re a franchise QB, top receiver, or elite defensive player and even then their salary is equal to most role players in the NBA. There’s also no other option or alternative playing football, it’s pretty much NFL or bust. Yeah I know the UFL exist but they’ve only been around for a few years, let’s see how long that league actually last

Bc the exception doesn’t make the rule? Talking about 3-4 guys who’ve done it in the last 25 years successfully. For every Antonio gates there’s 10+ Mark Vitals and Quinten Rollins. Not to mention Antonio Gates didn’t just start playing football randomly. He was recruited to play football for MSU by Saban. He just decided to play basketball in college. I think the issue is football players realize there’s skills needed to play basketball and you have to practice those skills for years to make the nba. Basketball dummies and the general public who’ve never played high level football don’t realize that the same applies for football. You have to not only be a freak athlete but have to practice released, stems, route running, soft spots in coverages, contested catching, catching in traffic, catching while getting blasted, etc. it isn’t just line up wide and run a fade man to man and it’s a flag football jump ball fest. The toughest guy in the nba (Draymond green) tried to play TE in a MSU spring game. Watch the clips. It’s not sweet
@Zacdashocka
@Zacdashocka Месяц назад
@@snarlesbarkley2818 you saying all of that changes nothing about what I said. And you bringing up somebody like Rollins only further proves my point. He was a high level basketball player who wasn't going to make it in the NBA so he switched to football and made it to the NFL. If I can name guys like Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, and Jimmy Graham and you can even bring up somebody like Rollins it shouldn't be hard for you to name guys who primarily played football who made it to the NBA. You talking about exceptions don't make the rule. But in this case they do because it's proven based on the names just mentioned high level basketball players have a higher probability of transitioning to Football then football players have of making a high level basketball team. Basketball players make more money which is why more of them don't make the change. And the fact that you think Draymond is toughest guy in the league let's me know you don't know enough about hoops to have this discussion.
@LeominsterFC
@LeominsterFC Месяц назад
Why is this even a debate? It’s simple. Most NFL guys aren’t tall enough to be good in the NBA. They’re all freak athletes in their own right, the NBA guys are just 6’9 not 6’. NBA body types translate better to football than vice versa. It’s not a knock just the reality.

Sobering/Inconvenient Truth: a lot of NBA guards would be *tremendous QB prospects* (height, athleticism, passing, vision, etc.). The trouble, though, is that [historically] the QB position has been off-limits to *the NBA demographic* . Thus - since the faucet's remained closed/impinged - the pipeline's been barren. 🏀🏈 *NBA Guards ≈ Tremendous QB Prospects*
@0-Elias-0
@0-Elias-0 Месяц назад
@@Hoodlum728 Example: Charlie Ward was a Heismann Trophy Winning Quarterback (ie, he was _the best_ football player in the nation). His NFL prospects were bleak, though → which was the case for many black quarterbacks. So, he entered the NBA. Where he spent several years as a ho-hum point guard. In other words, *the top football QB was a run-of-the-mill NBA point guard* . My Point: a lot of NBA guards would be tremendous QB prospects.

@@eddieprieto6511 I see you; and although I agree with your first statement, I find that it missed the mark. Reason: it was aimed at _infamous busts_ , while mine was aimed at pronounced success rates. Fact: Heisman-winning QBs have had significantly more success than non-Heisman-winning QBs. Nonetheless, I'll acknowledge how mystifying this fact is to our current sports minds. And that's largely because of how much we focus on the [infamous] busts. Yet, when we look at the entire landscape, we'll see that Heisman-winning QBs have tremendously more NFL success than their non-winning counterparts. We'll even reach this conclusion upon analyzing every metric (eg, production, years played, snaps taken, draft position, etc.). I'll also acknowledge that these same mystifying agents cause our minds to stigmatize entire demographics. In this instance, that demographic is the black quarterback. Unfortunately, this stigmatization has clouded our prospects of their success (of course, some of us are just flat-out haters; promulgating the inferiority of others). So, with those factually-debunked clouds now dissipated, we can [more easily] see that *Charlie Ward was a tremendous QB prospect* . Then, when we look at Ward's [more-gifted] peers (ie, other NBA guards), we can see that many others would have been *tremendous QB prospects also* . Are you seeing that, too?

So here’s how I look at it…. If you can hoop, and you can play football at a high level you are picking to play basketball every time. If you choose to play football it’s because you can’t hoop at a higher level. Basketball players make way more money and take way less risk in their health. I’m not saying a ton of guys could go play NFL but more guys in the NBA could play in the NFL then the other way around. And I’m only talking about certain positions. Corner, QB, lineman, kicker/punter are so much about skill set and repetition. But edge rusher, receiver, and tight end I think the athleticism and size of NBA players can translate to those positions. Guys like De’Aaron Fox, Ja Morant, Scoot Henderson, Russell Westbrook, and Donovan Mitchell could definitely run around and catch a few passes if the offense schemes them open. And guys like Anthony Edwards, and Zion Williamson could definitely rush the passer on a 3rd down play. Not to mention the guys like Lebron, KD, Tatum, Giannis, and Wemby who could play in the red zone and the QB could just throw it up and they could catch it over everyone……

My ONLY knock on your points, and they are good points, is the toughness factor. Everyone has a game plan until they get punched in the mouth. Even with the softer hits of today's NFL, I don't know if many of the NBA players you mentioned could truly take the hits at all. Especially the ones you want playing TE or EDGE. Also, you might be devaluing the skill involved in pass rushing... though the pure length of someone like Zion would present significant issues to passers.

Former Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame tight end, Tony Gonzalez, could have played in the NBA. PURE LOGISTICS: NFL has 32 teams w 53 players on each team. NBA has 30 teams with 12 players. There are WAAAAY more jobs in the NFL! The biggest guy in the NBA dwarfs the biggest guy in the NFL. Basketball is way more of a finesse game than Football and Football is way more physical than Basketball... but since the average NBA player is MUCH MUCH larger than the AVERAGE NFL player there are several positions that you can consider they play based on their size, speed, and hands in the NFL! Other thing people forget...... all NBA players have good hands since they have to catch and pass.... in Football only 1 positions passes the ball and only a handful catch the ball! The only 2 positions NFL players could play in the NBA are 2 or 3 because of their size. There is no way they would have the handles to be a 1 or they’d average 20turnovers/game.

The question as stated I'm answering which allows for starting from the door. If the question is you have to walk out onto the opposite field/ court outta nowhere then my answer is different. So,.. OBVIOUSLY... You need to remove the 7ft ers and remove the LESSER in term's of athletic aability who are sub 6ft NFL guys.. NOW we get to Most ABV AVG NBA players COULD'VE gone NFL had they had the cojones. You can teach skills from 3rd, 4th 5th heck 10th grade - NBA draft night. You CAN'T teach, " I'm good with running full speed into another man who's running full speed, REPEATEDLY, DOZENS OF TIMES, EVERY DAY, EVERY WEEK, EVERY YEAR, FOR 2 DECADES, type cojones! " So... It's harder NBA - NFL. The would be abv average NFL guys had they started playing basketball when the avg NBA guy did ( let's say 6th grade, some B4, some after, I know ) COULD learn the basketball skills needed.
