We all thought that this would be an opportunity for nct members to get closer to one another but it turns out it’s an opportunity for nct members to troll one another.🤣 Mark and Haechan are in both nct 127 with Doyoung and Nct Dream with Renjun btw!

You have to watch Johnny and Jaemin go about this excersice. They're both so shameless it was amazing to watch.

Renjun has a very strong personality, its why I like him so much. He looks so shy and quiet when in reality hes very fiery and takes no sh*t.

also i feel like renjun and doyoung have gotten so much closer ever since this video so i guess it does actually work 😭i love their dynamic

they actually got a lot closer after this. theyre the most successful pair of this nct content. their dynamic now is so funny

I think this series does a really good job at bringing members slightly closer through the trolling and shenanigans lol. I see it as an icebreaker, where they can then be comfortable enough to reach out and interact after the episode is over

"Set up for failure" Ironically doyoung and renjun is the most successful awsaz duo, they had meals together after this, talked a lot, and still going strong till today

For Renjun and Doyoung I feel like Awash did actually work for them. Cause they got a lot closer since then. Also I think to a certain extent Renjun really like Doyoung as a person so he was actually kinda invested in actually getting closer. Renjun is quite shy with people he doesn't know well, but is really confident and direct when he is comfortable. Renjun said himself that he and Doyoung actually got closer but thinks that Mark and Haechan helped a lot to make him feel less reserved ( he said they are like the oil for a bicycle chain). But it makes sense since Haechan and Mark are both in Dream and 127, so they are really close to both member. Doyoung is actually super kind and thoughtful yet he can be super blunt just like Renjun. They are actually quite similar and I guess that's why fans were excited to see them paired together and interact.

Doyoung and Renjun is a fairly calm (adorable) combo - Johnny and Jaemin is like throwing two bizarre aliens with no care for social expectations into a room and not knowing what to expect.

it's entirely possible that they don't spend time together, because they're in different subunits (Doyoung=nct 127, Renjun=nct dream) also doyoung is an actor and seems to be more socially at ease mostly, while renjun can come off as more reserved sometimes when he's not with his members but he is someone who stands up for himself and speaks up loved the video

4:40 I think you're spot on. I think the whole idea is the 2 people "coaching" the 2 on the date are intentionally making things more awkward so its basically like "Well, this is the most awkward thing we've dealt with, nothing else between us can be worse than this". Obviously the whole thing is also played up a bit for the sake of creating entertaining content for viewers. With a group like NCT where there's 23 and counting members, they mostly promote in units (NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV) so it's not surprising some members across units aren't close with each other simply because they're all busy and haven't had a chance to work together or hang out much. The reason why Haechan and Mark were tasked in this episode to be the coaches is because both of them are part of NCT Dream as well as 127, so they are close with both Doyoung and Renjun.

you were spot on about renjun towards the end of the vid! renjun’s known for always speaking his mind and giving it to you straight, fans love his witty & sharp sense of humor

Renjun is quite honest & loves to speak out loud(straight fwd),loyal, he also wise person & a good listener too💚. Doyoung is really kind person & loves his teammate.

You are so right about Renjun. He is really straightforward and blunt even Jisung said his words are like a knife. So to the people who doesn't know him he might come off as mean but he's just really direct and doesn't sugarcoat words. Jaemin also said before that Renjun is really nice but always act like he's not.

Renjun is actually known to be a "cider" (even his members call him that) for his refreshing remarks and how he's not afraid to voice out his thoughts and opinions. Love him for that 🥰

You should definitely reach to the episode with Yuta and Xiaojun because both of them are more on the introverted side and are lively when they are with people they are more comfortable with but are kinda awkward when they are around people they don’t spend that much time with so it was just hilarious watching them trying to open up to one another. And yes, both of them are from different units so that made it even more amusing to watch 😭

in part 2 of the doyoung renjun episode they actually have a really sincere conversation that kind of marks the turning point in their relationship which would be interesting to see from a communications expert’s perspective :)

Mark and Haechan are in both NCT 127 and NCT Dream so that's why they were basically the link to these two NCT units helping them get over their awkwardness in this series hahahhaah

You gotta watch part 2 as well! Over time Doyoung and Renjun who are the original pair of awsaz have gotten pretty close and it's so cool to be able to see the show that was the catalyst to them actually being friends

I think the reason he's just following what Haechan's saying because he really thought he has to follow what he said, but the next episode when he thought Renjun might get hurt for real, he stopped following everything Haechan told him to say. Doyoung is a bit slow to warm up to new people but after they got close to him, they gonna be real comfortable around him. Doyoung is very NICE yes. He's known as the mom of the group, he takes care of everyone, even the leader said doyoung is the one who's helping him by his side, one of the members said although doyoung isn't the leader, he's s the one who supports the members from the back and they always thank him for being considerate and for having such a big heart. But Doyoung is actually a sensitive person, he's really affected by emotions and you can actually tell especially when it's in a more serious situations. I really recommend watching their series To You especially the first episode.

wow you’re actually pretty spot on with your observations of Renjun!! He is definitely someone who isn’t afraid to speak his mind, he’s also seems to be someone who has clear values and lives by them. Those are some things I really admire about him.

Awsaz is all about second hand embarrassment for us fans. Tbh nct as a whole always like to be more entertaining than serious it’s like their default setting so it’s harder to find really serious content or interviews with them. Awsaz might not be a good start into getting to their dynamics in my opinion but it has mostly worked with getting the specific members closer. Anyways thanks for the reaction♥︎

this did bring them closer together as you said! doyoung and renjun are quite close now. probably the most successful of any of the pairs who've been on this show so far.

So thrilled that you decided to react to this series, it's a lot of fun. It's true that it's very cringy, but judging by how Doyoung and Renjun get along nowadays, the setup kinda worked for them. I think you got their personalities pretty spot on, especially Renjun. He is pretty straightforward and a bit prickly, while Doyoung is very kind and just wants everyone to get along. Its not a surprise that they were a bit awkward. If you want to continue this series, may I suggest the episode of Jisung and Winwin? They are both super shy and awkward, while their coaches (who hardly knew each other at the time either, afaik, Haechan and Hendery) are insanely funny. Anyway, thanks for more NCT content, we love it!

Mark and Haechen are really enjoying their time flirting and teasing renjun through doyoung. They loves to tease renjun because renjun always has great reaction when being teased lol

This show really kept going thanks to Haechan's goal to make things awkward for fun. He didn't think the members were that awkward with each other at that point, so he thought he should mess with them.

you got it 100% right. doyoung is incredibly nice and a bit shy, renjun is nice as well but he has lots of confidence and a rebellious side. he wants to be in control!

Actually, Mark can be a little awkward sometimes with total strangers or seniors, I think he likes to listen and can be shy. But he’s also very professional and takes his leader role seriously in public so you rarely see it.

you are so right about renjun! he is maybe shy and awkward but also confident?? in a way, he is definitely open and honest about what he thinks. he does not afraid to speak his mind. even one of his group mate says that renjun is the one who speaks for the group. i would say that renjun speaks very well and also very wisely. eventho he might be a lil bit short-tempered:))

Renjun is being comedic and teasing Doyoung in this moreso than having/being a disagreeable personality in general.

it's just so amazing how you get to interpret their conversation. i used to watch this only out of entertainment but ever since this video this gave me a new perception of my idols, how they deal with their current social environment and how despite their differences (and working with like 300 members) stay loyal and united with them

there a show NCT Dream went that it's about *behavior and personality.* there are two specialists in the show analyzing them. it's called "NCT Dream - Mental Camp". it would be amazing if you reacted to that and to see if you would agree with what's said about the members.

Love awsaz so much.... Love Renjun so much...he is just an emotional boy, full of anger.... If u dive into NCT Dream more, u will know that NCT Dream really a bunch of 7 boys with different personality... Very different each other

9:50 Renjun is also not Korean (despite speaking better and knowing more about Korean culture than most people lol) so I do find he seems more comfortable with others faster in these settings

Thank you for reacting. This series is definitely an experience for all of us for many reasons. I can say it worked for some duos & some their still a little awkwardness between them but Renjun & Doyoung definitely created an unbreakable bond after this. The most successful friendship out of this soo much so that when NCT U (NCT's rotational unit, all current 23 members can be in it at any given time) has variety content together they always want to be in the same team & spend time together. A lot of fans actually think Renjun & Doyoung have similar personalities. Their both savage, blunt, witty, sensitive, & highly emotional thinkers but like you said it depends on the setting & the person for both. Doyoung took in Renjun as his little brother that he takes care of so even tough he can tease him he instantly takes it back. On the other hand theirs other people like Haechan (same age as Renjun) that Doyoung can be savage to & not feel sorry for it but then again their both like that towards Haechan. In Doyoung's words meeting Renjun was like meeting my enemies enemy. The most comfortable pair on this show would be Jaemin & Johnny but that's just their personalities. Their both generally flirty & easily comfortable regardless of who it is so they were doing the most without even being told to. Although it can be cringy for you they were having fun. The rest of the couples were awkward for the most part.

I really love this series. It's really fun to watch as a fan. Thank you for reacting to this and NCT in general. This whole thing started because Doyoung and Renjun ended up going to a concert and they were the only two members that ended up going. They filmed their interaction on the ride back to the dorms and it was awkward. They started making jokes about having an awkward relationship. They are both very similar personality wise. I do agree that Doyoung does tend to be more agreeable than Renjun BUT get Doyoung around Taeyong (his bff and the leader) and he'll say no to something he doesn't want to go really fast. Doyoung is part of the "hyung" line (older brother) so I feel like he just wants to play along with the younger guys to make them happy. Mark and Haechan are in NCT 127 with Doyoung and they are the youngest two in the unit so Doyoung is used to them teasing him. Renjun is the same age as Haechan so he feels more comfortable saying no to him and Mark. I bet if it was Jisung, the maknae, telling Renjun do to things he'd probably play along more so he didn't hurt Jisung's feelings. But like Mark and Haechan said in the beginning, Renjun really thinks Doyoung is cool and wants to be closer with him. Renjun and Chenle joined as a trainee a lot later than most of NCT Dream so they didn't get the same opportunity to grow close with the older guys in NCT 127. If you watch other content you can hear Renjun mention wanting to be closer with them. All of their interactions are fun to watch and seeing them in different groups shows the many sides to their personality

so glad to see a new nct reaction! This whole show was set up to be awkward, and it was. But in a way it actually must work, bcz doyoung and renjun have gotten so much closer since! I’d love to see more episodes, and I always say this, but I highlyyy recommend watching mark and jaehyun on the yt channel “Korean Englishmen” - hands down my fav k pop interview of all time.

Doyoung is the most dominant member in the group, he is no push-over and one of the leaders. He plays 3 roles here, however: an idol (a celebrity that sets a good example), a hyung (=an older brother) and an entertainer. It took him some years, but he is pretty good with keeping up his professional idol image now. The programme was his idea, btw. And he is very witty and sassy. You can't really trust idols in variety content, heh.

I hope you'll do more of the "It's Awkward But it's Okay" episodes! They really bring out interesting dynamics between members that are a lot different from group interviews.

I still remember I was very new with NCT when I first watched AWSAZ and I'm very confused with the whole thing, but after I get to know them better now I realized there's a lot of hidden jokes and background stories inside NCT thus makes them making this wonderful content. It makes me appreciate the members more where they can talks freely to the other members without really care much about seniority inside the group like what Renjun did to Doyoung here ^^

You have to watch the its awkward but its okay with Johnny, one of your favs, and Jaemin, another member NCT. He's not in NCT127, but in NCT Dream, with Renjun. Mark and Haechan are also both in Dream, so they have two subunits, but as of right now they are the only members of NCT that are in more than one fixed unit.

Mark and Haechan are in both units (127 and dream) so they're really close with both Renjun and Doyoung, actually, which is why they were they were perfect as the "coaches" lol The reason that Renjun and Doyoung weren't able to hang out much was that they are in different units and barely had any overlapping activities, at the time. All the korean Dream members have been trainees for a long time and trained with the 127 members so they're quite close, but Renjun and Chenle both joined later and weren't fluent in Korean, so they missed the opportunity to befriend them at that stage. I feel like that played the most important role in them being "awkward" around each other, although this show seems to have helped them.

Because we get an insight of their feelings towards the members in a quiet setting with nothing but a camera, it felt more serious and raw I think it’ll be interesting to interpret. The day has finally come

Actually, because it’s so awkward and the people controlling them via headset are close to the person they speak to, it works well for making the subjects closer - they tend to bond over rebelling against the speakers, and also get closer because they are both sharing an experience in a situation that is so bizarre.

i sometimes wonder if i'm the only person who enjoys the company of "disagreeable" people. but I'm also considered disagreeable so i like the banter lmao. it is definitely awkward to be seen as rude and disagreeable when you're messing around like renjun does

Really loved watching this,, this series is a really fun way to see interactions between some of the members who, despite being in the same group, havent really interacted,,, I think it would be really cool if you checked out another nct series called "chenji's this and that" it's done by the 2 youngest members in the whole group and they do miscellaneous activities in each of the episodes,, I think their interactions are really interesting, as the youngest members in a rather large group, and I'd love to see your insight on their interactions

LOL not the 300members. They are 3 groups: NCT 127, NCT Dream, WayV. So they don’t see each other often. Think about this, lets say each group has 7 members then that makes 21 members. They’re total 23 members but we don’t see them all together. They’re in DIFFERENT GROUPS, they make music SEPARATELY. Rarely at end of the year performances they do a couple of songs together and dance together but it’s rare. And WayV is a chinese unit.
