It seems to be based on the idea that Russell T. Davies, a gay man who (in a novelization of "Rose") wrote not only as a trans woman as part of a band, and described an implied future incarnation of the Doctor as a black bald woman with a flaming sword, wouldn't agree with diverse casting choices and the BBC had to force him to do so. Sounds like something made up by someone who has no idea who RTD is.

I'm fairly sure that what they mean by "compare the mouths" means that... if the regeneration scene was filmed with the first guy, it would be his features bleeding through at first. So, unless they film a new regeneration scene with Ncuti, they'll just recycle the original shot and CGI it a bit to match. Whatever.

Thanks for putting this in good perspective. I admit, I was shocked when I first saw the headline, but as I read it I realized that it sounded quite a bit fishy particularly since NOTHING was referenced other than "someone who said they were there." Toby Stephens would have been a great choice, don't get me wrong, and I can see certain higher ups at the BBC wanting to force an agenda through, but this all sounds too contrived and conspiratorial to have an ounce of truth. As you said, all designed for clicks and to rile up people and to stoke the fires of everything has to be a conspiracy.

I was wondering about the mirror too!😂 It didn't really make sense that he'd find someone and start then start the casting process all over again either. Once RTD picked someone, had looked at every available applicant and made his decision, I really don't think he'd change his mind. Too much work has to be done by costume designers and set builders to waste time like that. I thought it was pretty obvious that they wouldn't recast Rose Tyler too. I figured out it was Donna's daughter rather quickly. Just my opinion.

A black doctor is fine, I just really hope they don’t make the 14ths whole personality based off the fact he’s black and gay. I love doctor who but the casting seems very political these days. Diversity is good but I’m not watching doctor who for diversity, I’m watching it because I want a good show with good story and lovable characters. Its been white male actors for 50+ years and no one had an issue with it. When you imagine the doctor you most likely think of 1-12. Traditionally, the doctor is an old white dude. I genuinely believe they are casting to be woke. Woke casting doesn’t mean that it will be bad, just that it’s purposefully done because the BBC doesn’t want to be labeled racist, homophobic or whatever, they want to be seen as all inclusive. I can’t say who the doctor is, the doctor can be anyone and that’s the beauty of the doctor and regenerations. If it sounds racist then whatever but I prefer a white male doctor, it’s what I’m used too, it’s what the doctor has always been, up until 13, and they shouldn’t change that because of politics or to fit in with progressive culture.

As far as Ol' Vic(tor Von Doomcock) goes, I think his turning point was during the whole Star Wars Episode 8 Fiasco. Then he started going full tilt during Episode 9 and the Timeless Child. In fact, You could say star wars controversy, real, imagined, or manufactured, were his specialty, then he started branching out to properties like Dr. Who and the MCU- he was one the the channels that helped coin the term M-She-U, in retaliation for getting rid of certain heroes, or downgrading them, to make room for a more female centric cast. Although Ncuti Gatwa wasn't my first choice, I'll give the guy a chance in the first several episodes, like everyone who has any decency. I trust RTD more than I trust Cosmic Book News. RTD brought Doctor Who back from the wilderness FGS. By the way, Ncuti is gay, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good version of The Doctor. He is an actor first and foremost, and he will conform to the way the episodes are written and directed like any straight actor, or any actor for that matter.

I've come across these guys before. They did a huffy article about how "No one asked for She Hulk" and then went on to complain about other female MCU characters who had been given focus in that same article. Not a single complaint about the recent Dr Strange movie that "no one asked for." Not a sniff against the upcoming Thor movie (Though I am sure they're going to hate that too). It is clearly nonsense and also seems to not know how the audition process works. Auditions for the new Doctor began in DECEMBER and lasted until February which already goes against what is being claimed. Also Doomcock is the same one who claimed there would be a special where the 13th Doctor would lecture the 10th Doctor on masculinity (which never happened) so... it is blatantly just false all around.

i'm really excited to see what Ncuti has got in store. Jodi was good, but the writing was mediocre, so with RTD back, there's some serious potential there.

I think people are assuming Ncuti is gay beacuse of the role he played in sex Ed being gay when I honestly have zero idea if the actor has said that there are gay or not. Either way there Sexuality doesn't matter as doctor who rarely ever focuses on what the the doctor like to bang. In fact the last time I think doctor who mentioned anything about Sexual preference was mostly related to the companions not the doctor. Eg Bill, Yaz (although Bill may be a better example despite only being in one series)
