This song is perfection. Amazing musicians. The bassist lays the melodic groove while the guitars lays their chords and riffs. Dan Presland on the drums is a machine. I get tired in my calves just hearing those long bass drum attacks... glad you liked it. You're all fun music loving passionate people just like me!

I'm in shock. Never in a million years I was expecting to watch this. I am not a big fan of this type of metal, in all honesty. When it started I was like: "Oh, this is so melodic, so cool." And when they started singing, that's when I took a mule kick on my chest. 🤣🤣🤣 Such a big contrast between voices. Somehow, in my head, everything is in place. They complement each other. And Jon is right. That drummer is amazing. Not flashy unnecessary moves, and the sound is clear and pure. Those feet take a lot of practice to achieve that kind of speed. Great riffs from the bass and guitar players. The only thing missing in the stage was Suzy, doing her hair whip. All in all, awesome musicians and sound. Great song choice, as well. Kind regards and stay safe. 🎼🎶🎶🎶🤘🤘🤘👏👏👏👏😷😷😷

@@brendo9672 I think the most extreme kind of music I've ever heard, was a band called Napalm Death. And it was way more than I expected. No, way too extreme for me. But this band really surprised me. When I realised there was one guy with a violin, I thought it would be a sound like Waterboys, and I really like that kind of music. But when they started singing, oh boy. How they manage to go to such extremes, and how every sound falls in the right place, is just mind blowing.

@@paulocarvalho6480 check out the song Drinker Of Worlds by another Aussie band, Arbrynth. Acoustic sections, clean male and female vocals, growls etc etc Not as technical as this but has lots of movements. Or maybe something like Bergtatt by Ulver. Ulver are a band I respect so much. Did black metal, an acoustic album, moved into prog rock, minimal ambient, classical, experimental electronica etc They really just do what makes them happy and I am so on board with that

You guys definitely need to react to more Ne Obliviscaris. I'd recommend their whole discography, but songs like "Forget Not", "Devour Me, Colossus - Part I - Blackholes", Painters of the Tempest - Part II - Triptych Lux" and "Of Petrichor Weaves Black Noise" would be my top picks.

Great reaction. Have been listening to them for some years now, had the good fortune to see them live in Switzerland in such an intimate show and they don't disappoint, they are a live band at heart that just happen to play the crap out of those instruments. For me, the bassist was the thing that got me hooked first, but cygnus has left the band and i was afraid it would change things, but they replaced him with this italian BEAST of a bass player, so we all good there. Of course, Tim is one of the driving forces behind the band, it's not just him bringing the violin to the mix, it's the way he meshes it in their music, is simply brilliant. That breakdown they did mid track and when he brings in the violin for the second part alongside with Xen's vocal just puts in a whole new level. But please, react to Intra Venus and see the duel between Tim's violin and Benji's guitar, it's epic. Also the bass work is amazing. But for the most epic bass work of Cygnus, check out Devour me Colossus. It's basically just 8 minutes of foreplay and then probably the most orgasmic solo of bass i have ever heard. And i was listening to Metallica in the Cliff Burton days. Anyway, another great reaction guys, keep it up !!!

Aussie here, these guys are awesome, just saying. Also, fun fact, this song was put into the curriculum of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music as a compositional study "as an exemplar in structure, mixing timbres, meters, modes, how to approach virtuosity, sound and noise, extended performance and techniques."

I've seen them live several times (local Aussie) and they are great live - more of a prog band, especially with the way the crowd reacts (not much moshing, more just listening) I actually discovered them when they opened for Soilwork years back, and i loved them so much I had to find out who they were and haven't regretted it since! They've got a few albums out, though Portal of I is still my favourite. I'd definitely check out more of their stuff though! There are some other comments that picked the song I would have suggested :) Oh, as for the drummer, Dan Presland has a RU-vid channel where he show some of his exercises sessions as well as practice sessions and some concerts from the GoPro and other drum cams
