In this tutorial, I review Neat Video 5 and introduce you to the basic workflow on how to use the plugin to denoise your footage! Showcasing 2 before and after clips, this plugin has been monumental in cleaning up digital noisy footage. Using the Premiere Pro Neat Video 5 plugin is the easiest way to remove grain from your footage. I also explain what it is, when to use it, and why you'd need Neat Video.
Utilizing 2 drone clips, I walkthrough Neat Video v5's sharpening, flicker, dust & scratches, and noise level sliders/features. This really is the best denoising plugin available. It's only $130 to purchase the pro version which allows you to denoise footage larger than 1080p for commercial use!

any help for how best to sharpen video after applying neat video? Sometimes it can take away sharpness to add smoothing /noise reduction. Thanks!
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms Год назад
It takes away sharpness if you select a portion of the video that contains too much texture (asphalt on a road is a good example) the program will mistake the texture of the asphalt as noise and remove that level of detail from the entire image. You have to isolate areas that are purely noise or build your own profiles based on the ISO and sensor with a pure black frame and noise removal. There’s also a sharpening option in the basic tab which I normally flip on.

@@FrameworkFilms This is interesting. How do I go about building a profile for my camera sensor? Would I just take video with the lens cap on and do something in the software?
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms Год назад
@@CTcoreytrevor Essentially yeah. Say you normally use a Mavic 2 Pro to film (or whatever camera you use) - you can record a full black frame with the lens cap on or a heavy filter or closed aperture. You'd then record at iso 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600. You will then want to Create a "Mavic 2 ISO 1600" Custom Profile. So you load your black frame ISO 1600 video clip into Neat Video, denoise following the instructions in my YT video, and save that result as a Custom Profile by clicking across the top menu bar: "Profile > Save As.." Repeat the above workflow for all your desired ISOs and different camera sensors. I haven't personally done this because I usually find a selection area that I agree with denoising but the above is the "clinical" way to process and denoise using customized presets.

@@FrameworkFilms You know what, thank you very much for helping me. I have not seen that information shared anywhere, by anyone. So I really thank you for helping me by taking the time to write that out for me (any everyone else who will likely benefit). This software is very, very powerful and I want to use it as good as I can. I recommend everyone to buy this software, it's pretty shocking how good it is.

Great tutorial. Can you tell me if I can do denoise on 360 8k video (or even drone video) and than add adjustment layer above the clip in the same timeline and add lut , or do I have first to export denoised video and than import it again and do color grading or adding lut? Thank you.
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 3 года назад
You can try to denoise 360 8K video. I personally haven’t worked much with 360 footage. With aerial / drone video you can use this denoiser. Denoising the clip and adding adjustments on top is possible but will significantly increase your render time. Depending on the scenario and project type, it usually makes sense to denoise the footage first. Export it, re import and color / stabilize on top. Depends what kind of computer you’re using too and how charged up the specs are.
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 3 года назад
With my 8K timelapses I go through the process of perfecting each clip, denoising - then exporting, then stabilizing, then exporting, then de flickering further if needed, then exporting etc. I only apply certain effects to each clip when needed!

do i have to create an adjustmeent layer b4 adding it or i should just plavce it on the video?
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms Год назад
Just place it on the video and make sure it’s the first effect for best rendering speed.

Dude, dust and scratches its for motion picture film. It is not about lens dust or scratches, it is for film scan restouration. 😀

Hello! A 20 minute 4k/10-bit video without Neat Video is rendered in 35 minutes, with Neat Video is rendered in 5 hours. Is this difference normal, can this process be improved, or what settings need to be made for faster final render?
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 2 года назад
Make sure you apply near video as the first layer of effects, and add color afterwards. The order of how the effects are placed significantly slow down or speed up the render process. Neat video is a very GPU/RAM intensive program so it is inevitable it will slow down the speed of render.
@arcstudiosltd.1017

Is it better to apply Neat before or after colour grading?
@FrameworkFilms
@FrameworkFilms 3 года назад
Neat video should be applied to the clip before color grading for faster performance. Just make sure the order of the effects places color lumetri underneath neat video in the effects control.
