Yes sir! Good Morning Pastor! You can largely avoid sticking with "good" brass. (Most all commercial and some military.) But its a good tool for the tool box.
Good presentation! I cut a dowel and drilled a hole in it. I slide the dowel over the ball shaft. What it does is allow the case neck thickness to be measured at the same location around the neck.
Great video CW...... When I converted 556/223 to 300BO brass I got lucky that all the necks were with in 13-14 thou so no need to neck turn them... I like to keep all calibers around 14 thou of thickness.
outside neck turning is something i need to look into do you think the hornady one is any better then rcbs or redding or does one have a advantage over the other. great video
I agree. I have a Forster and a Lyman and I like this best of the three. But all work. Its a very good tool to to have and learn. Thanks man I appreciate ya! ❤️🩹🙏
I have an old Forrester neck turner. I bought new probably around 2000. I wonder if I can hook this up to my RCB press for a drill to make it a lot smoother? I used to turn my 243 brass right when I first started reloading and I don’t think I’ve pulled it out and used it since. I was always paranoid on taking off too much brass, and making the necks tooth thin. It always left lines in the necks to which made me paranoid. Also, if I got too close to the base of the neck, there was a ledge between the neck and the shoulder.
Ridges are from style shape and sharpness of cutter. Many use round carbide. This leaves ribs. Dont really matter but I dont like either. I have Forsters too I prefer this cutter. You will have a bit of a shelf but it will be close to base of neck and should not cause issue.
Yes, I didn’t watch before I texted but exactly how you showed you ruined. The brass is what I was referring to. I’ll keep watching. I paused again lol.
@@cw2a yup after I kept watching, I could see you still had a little ridge from where the cutter stopped. That’s kind of what I was referring to. I would assume it’s just superficial. Maybe I’ll practice on some of my federal brass. I tend not to use Federal because the necks always seem crack on that brand in 243 for me.
