"Don't Let It Bring You Down" is the seventh track on Neil Young's album After the Gold Rush. It was written by Young. It also appears on the 1971 Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young live album 4 Way Street as well as Young's 2007 album Live at Massey Hall 1971, which was recorded in 1971 and Young's 2013 album Live at the Cellar Door, which was recorded in 1970. John Reed wrote an arrangement of this for The Hampton String Quartet in 2006.
On 4 Way Street, Young says, "Here is a new song, it's guaranteed to bring you right down, it's called 'Don't Let It Bring You Down'. It sorta starts off real slow and then fizzles out altogether." The crowd then roars with laughter.

has to be the heaviest acoustic guitar sound I've ever heard

just btw, this is .. partly because it's down a step, and then in double drop D.. so the top (lowest) and bottom string is down two whole steps from where a normal guitar would be .. and the rest are down a step .. giving it a deep surreal tone .. and partly just because Neil is a genius

nezZario Thanks! This is my favorite version of this song that I’ve heard to date. Double drop D, I need to try that.

@@nezZario this is a step lower than in the 70s, so C standard with Bb on bottom and top.. ye really heavy

he adjusts it depending on his voice tune

All of these statements are incorrect. The low E is tuned down to A (an octave below the A on a standard guitar) as opposed to the original tuning of this song, which has a low C. Later in his life he would tune to this low A tuning. I play Neil's songs in a full cover setlist, I have figured his tunings out.

He's tuned down 2 steps and double drop Bb on his guitar.

Damn, playing it in standard guitar tuning lowered 2 steps down, usually he does this song in GCGFAC tuning...

It's not so easy to "find someone who's turning". OKAY?

How de-tuned is that old Martin guitar?! Leave it to Uncle Neil. Badass

He usually does this song in CGCFAC tuning instead of this 2 steps down standard tuning. "Tell me why" is another song done the same way.

It wasn't from back in 73. It's a filter.

Love the song. Delete all the attempts at making the video appear old. Just a distraction.
