@@sgru9558 Well, English must not be your native language, otherwise you would know that THEY/THEM is long established singular form in two cases: when we don't know gender of a person or if that gender is irrelevant. Non-binary people adopted that pronoun basen on it's grammatically correct second meaning. I hope that helps. If no, we'll, addressing people the way the ask to be addressed is just a simple human kindness, doesn't hurt to try it sometime 😊

I was supporting Croatia and Ukraine. Israel wasn't one of my favorites but I think she did it well and she never seemed arrogant or similar to me. I think she received a lot of unnecessary hate, and the arrogance you mention was just character and determination to do her best, against everything. I think is admirable because I would have cried and run away from there. Everyone did an excellent job.

They/Them doesn't have to be multiple people in English. We’ve always used they/them for singular especially on a person we didn’t know. “Oh no, someone left their umbrella behind. I hope they come back for it.

If a person were ro think about that for a minute, *they* might realize that "they" has always been used as a neutral pronoun for a single person as well as for several people. Now, there are languages where a neutral pronoun for one person doesn't really exist and it's therefore unwieldy and odd to try and use one, but the English language had this one at habd already, so no need to change it/find a new one.

No it doesn't though. Idk if English is your first language, but according to the English grammar “they/them” can be used as a singular when the person's gender isn't known. That's why it actually works out really well in the case of nonbinary people, since they don't identify as either of the binary genders. Say for example that you find a wallet on the ground and don't know whose it is. You don't know what pronouns the owner goes by, so you would have to say “someone's left THEIR wallet on the ground”. The same applies for any instance where the person's gender/pronouns are unknown. (This comment isn't meant to be rude btw, I just wanted to explain how it works and why nonbinary people often use they/them as their pronouns.)

It just takes some getting used to, if you see it enough times it no longer feels weird. It's kind of like seeing slang words for the first time, they feel weird and don't make sense at first glance, but when you hear them a few times it clicks and you get used to them. If you know another language just think about a concept you originally couldn't grasp but know now, I found that incredibly helpful in understanding they/them pronouns
