Hi .. I am making a pair of nike air force customs using jacquard neooaque black and red and I am a first timer . I had a question- is it necessary to heat it with hair dryer or blower bcoz I am low on budget and I dont have anything like that, can I just use the angelus matte finisher after fully drying of neopaque paint? This is the only video of a youtuber painting neopaque paint very appreciated. Very underrated channel.

Hi! Thanks for your feedback, I very appreciate it Jacquard themselves suggest only a hot air fixation, so if we're to follow the manufacturer's instruction, that's what's to be done, and in fact it works. I can understand your case, though, especially since it's a first time painting and no general use for hair dryer... The finisher should be effective in this case. Remember to go over with finisher on each leather area which was deglazed, even if you didn't paint it. It will bring it back to protected condition, like the factory type. If you'll decide to keep creating on leather, and your choice of paint will remain Neopaque, think of investing into an inexpensive blower. It doesn't have to be a hair dryer, if you won't have any direct use for it. I personally, prefer to use a heat gun for fixing leather and dimentional paint. It costs around 10$ [not an industrial type,just a portable mini heat gun]👏and is more quick and effective (when used carefully), than a hair dryer. GOOD LUCK ☀️

Thank you very very much for giving your time to reply and your guidance, so actually I live in india and here heat gun or hair dryer is much costlier and am a teen saving my pocket money for my sneakers so I would go with finisher bcoz each penny matters🤗 anyways thanks😉

You didn't put a sealant over your finished work. ALWAYS do that. It will protect your work. I am surprised you failed to do that.

Thanks for passing by again, Marie! Indeed it's the best practice to apply a finisher on leather goods to reinstate the leather protection coat. However, in this video I did the test of Jacquard Neopaque paints, which explicitly suggests that their paints do not require sealing on leather - only a heat fixing. That I did in this experiment. And in the end, Jacquard's promise worked out - I'm still carrying this wallet around with me, and there's not even one scratch on the painting! I'm impressed! To be fair, I did mention some downsides of this paint line as well, however, I believe you'll agree, that when the paint can do that good of a job without having it covered by a finisher, saves us money and time. And those are significant ones for any crafter:)
