I found this great post on Humble.fish and had to share it. This video will show you how to get to your Trident output configuration (hidden by default) so that you can set customizable testing intervals. Make sure to follow all the way through so that you can identify your address bus number and be able to get to the output configuration pages to modify your schedule. I'm personally testing it out to see if it works the way I want it to. If not, I'm going to revert back.

Hi Could i Check if after i did the code, do i change it to manual testing?, or will it just override even on automatic testing?

@@wilmersoemo Just make the change and that is it. I didn't set anything else. Setting this setting will auto kick off the measurements at the time you set it to.

Appreciated 👍 I’ve always felt that Neptune’s min. amount of daily tests was mainly “profit motivated” and this has always put me off…so I’ve been looking to purchasing a different brand. Learning this certainly may change things. It seems the only risk is in extending reagents is the accuracy drift..but calibrations should solve this right? (Btw I notice even my Hanna Alk reagent drifts as well as I get close to running out…with more air in container) 🙏Thanks for sharing this man! Cheers 🍻

I added virtual outlet command when its on trident testing turns off. Mainly for maintenance/water changes

Does the trident still let you know if the reagent bottles are empty with this customization? Was thinking if the trident keeps testing from an empty bottle.

It should but I have not tested that as I'm upping my testing regiment to run more frequently.

It should since they give you 'approved' testing option intervals to choose from. So it should keep track of amounts.

Is it possible to only test Alk? I seem always be left with some Alk while everything else gets down to 0.

I have not tried it myself but you can probably reset the mag and ca reagent to full (even though it's empty) and then set the schedule to only run alk.

How sure are we, that OSC timer kicks start at Midnight at 00:00? I mean, does it says somewhere? Or are we just assuming?

Does your code in the description still work ? I put …If Time 06:00 to 06:01 Then ON… for the 3 tests to be carried out & …If Time 18:00 to 18:01 Then ON… for my ALK. It worked the day i put these in on my trident the following day though it didn’t test. Have you had the same problem ??

It did work previously but I have not tested it recently as I've opted to have it test more frequently.

I have it in the description of the video. Look there under Alk. You can add one of those lines or change the time to whatever best suits you.

Is this no longer works? I tried to set 2 testing a 1 for trident and 1 for alk but trident still runs 4 days a day. Do I have to put trident to manual before coding or automatic?

I too am tired of spending $ buying reagents but I need to weigh the pros and cons. 1. Will changing the schedule affect the bottle usage countdown? 2. I am looking at the graph. With 4 times a day testing, I see the ALK does go up and down during the day. If we change to one, say morning, which is always high, are we fooling ourselves. 3. Trident uses the measurements to adjust the dosing to try to keep them inline. When we minimize the number of testing, would that minimize the adjustment?

I'm not expert but here's my response 1. It should not but I have not used it long enough to know. I actually keep it the default settings because you can get them for a reasonable price if getting the alternative 6 pack unit from here: reeflabs.net/ABC_Reagents_6-Month_Supply 2. I don't think so since it should stay consistent at that time. If it fluctuates, then that would mean that there's a change in the consumption 3. I do not know since I don't use to control dosing. I'm currently using a Ca Reactor setup.

I've never tried that. I've actually changed back to the normal default schedule so I can get more readings.

X_3 is for all 3 test and X_4 is just for alk. So if I set X_3 to run daily once then I need to leave theX_4 blank?

If you want to test all three parameters once or twice a week, this is how it is accomplished: Set OFF If Time 09:59 to 10:00 Then ON If DoW S-TWT-S Then OFF The above programming only performs a combined test on Mondays and Fridays at 10am. This works because APEX programming executes an outlet's code once per second - the last line of code being the most important. In this case, the last line of code carries the TRUE or FALSE state of the entire outlet. Even if it is 9:59am, the code will evaluate to FALSE if the day of the week is Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday or Saturday.

Do it at your own risk. Anything is possible. I resorted the default standard testing because I like seeing the swing of the parameters.

It's very possible that the lines could dry out and they is why Neptune's default is set to at least twice a day (Mag/Ca).

Somehow the above code test Alk 3x daily. Im going to remove one extra time for the Alk so it test Alk 2x daily. I think the command to test CA and MG also test Alk as well.

That is correct. One of the command is to test alk. The other command is to test all 3 parameters.

Question - why Trident? I saw that you were using an Alkatronic a year ago. I watched that video way back when. So why Trident now?

I sold the alkatronic to a friend because he needed it. I then decided to go the trident route because it tested 3 parameters.

@@ModernReefer you know I’m so close to pulling the trigger on a trident and I see so many bad reviews on BRS. It makes me hesitant. I just not sure how people can goober it up but seems like people have found away. I’m just hoping I wouldn’t have the same bad experience. I see so many used ones on eBay which I likely would never buy because of used equipment is not a good deal always, especially when it comes to instruments that make measurements.

@@PatrickJewellTheGreat It works but probably on as accurate and consistent as I like. It gives me a ball park of where my parameters are at. Just FYI, I've had to turn mine in for warranty work within the year. I am debating on the mastertronic / alkatronic setup again but it's pretty expensive.

@@ModernReefer agreed they are all pretty expensive. I wish there was an alkalinity only version. At the very least Neptune’s support is pretty good. I had to warranty repair my head unit when my temperature board went out. Then there’s the aspect of not having your Alk monitored because of centralized control verses distributed control. The cost of ownership is something to consider too.

Thank you, so I couldn't understand 100%. _3 is set to If Time 14:00 to 14:01 Then ON If DoW S-T-T-S Then ON If DoW -M-W-F- Then OFF _4 is set to If Time 08:00 to 08:01 Then ON If Time 11:02 to 11:03 Then ON If Time 20:00 to 20:01 Then ON. But it doesn't work. Can I get some advice?

I'm confused about your DOW Program. I am new to this. If want Test to run only on Sunday. Then DOW should be "If DOW -MTWTFS Then OFF" Correct? This code, should make outlet Run only on Sunday. Why do you need to toggle two program ON & OFF??? If DOW --------S Then ON If DOW SMTWTF- Then OFF

Just a PSA for everyone. I ran mine like this for a year. MWF alk only, TThSat all three tests, and Sunday one alk and one all three to keep the fluids balanced. My trident is still perfectly fine. I’m happy I did it. But just be aware, I don’t think they are joking when they say their fluids should be used in 2 months only. Doing it like this video prescribes will make your fluids last 6 months roughly. But after 2 months your numbers will start to drift. At the end of each 6 month interval my alk was almost 1 full dkh off. Still useful. Still shows trends. Just had to do a manual test once a month and kinda calibrate in my mind what it really was. Great video.

I'm guess running it less will increase shelf life and changing the code should not hurt anything your just setting a trigger for an event your not changing the event itself
