This is a fix for a Nespresso Magimix. Water was leaking out from just behind the spout, a common problem with this type of machine apparently. This fixed it...
Yes, thank you! I bought an oval screwdriver on eBay to get into my Citiz machine, followed a disassembly from another video, but your fix was the key. I only inspected the o-ring I had and it looked fine without wear. I just had to clean it, lubricated it (I used a lip balm), put it back together, and it was good as new! No dripping and the intensity of my café has returned! For those who want to replace the o-ring, I measured the outer diameter to be 38mm and the inner diameter was 33mm. So the thickness of the seal is about (38 - 33) / 2 = 2.5 mm. I'd go with ordering a 32mm x 3mm (inner diam x thickness) o-ring.
Brilliant, this video saved me £225 for a new machine. As stated you can remove the part without dissembling the machine. It's accessible from below after removing the drip trays. I removed the o-ring, placed in boiling water then ran it under the cold tap. After a quick clean of the parts with some washing-up liquid and putting back together it works like a charm. To think that I've put up with a leaking machine for 2 years is crazy. Thanks
That indeed is the fix! I just had problems finding a fitting o-ring, and putting back that part was hard. In the end it worked and the dripping stopped! Thanks for sharing. Saved me time and money!
This is a great video, thank you. I have found a quick way to achieve the same result. You don’t need to dismantle the machine. Just remove the trays and you can access this clip from underneath. Turns it into a five minute task.
This works! Don’t forget there is also a clip on the top side. I first just Unclipped the bottom one and was wondering why it didn’t come out. So just remember there is also one on the top. I managed also to break the little bit of the plastic off underneath the clip (oops). But I still got it all back together again and the machine still works without leaking. Also I didn’t want to go through the hassle of buying a new (maybe slightly thicker) ring, so I just used some lip balm on the ring before putting it back. Works like a charm.
@@matthewarmstrong3661 for me it is exactly opposite (180 degrees) of the bottom one. But maybe the machines differ a bit per country or region, I don’t know that. I’m in the Netherlands.
@@mark3826 Thank you Mark! For others' reference, in US models there is a silver casing that is covering the upper clip. I wasn't able to remove it without disassembling the entire unit (I suppose you could just damage / break the silver casing as it appears to be cosmetic).
@@mark3826 Thanks Mark. I watch the video and follow your recommandation regarding lip balm after I boiled the O-Ring and freeze it. All looks ok now without leaking. And you are 100% right regarding the hassle of buying a new one which I experimented bfr I decided to go through the "boil-freeze-lip balm" process.
Oldie but goodie! Your o-ring fix works on a range of different Nespresso/Delonghi models. Mine is the EN750MB, but the brew head is the same as yours. I simply cleaned and reseated the o-ring (and scrubbed everything else with a toothbrush and toothpicks). No more internal dripping. BRILLIANT! Thank you.
Just fixed the brew unit with the old O-ring. The O-ring was deformed en loose so I put in in very hot water. I managed to get te O-ring back in the right shape. To shrink it a little I put in in the oven (160C) for 7 minutes and 4 minutes or so on 170C. The fit was a tiny bit better. I didn't want to damage the O-ring so I stopped and did a test with the unit still detached from the machine. It worked!! No leaks. Thanks for the video!
Thanks so much for this. My Nespresso Essenza Mini was leaking hot water from under the lever down the sides of the machine. Followed advise in another video on how to get all the casings off (mine had hexagonal security screws) then your video to change the 'O' ring. All I would say is I tried an every so slightly thicker ring and there was no way in a month of Sundays it was going to go back in. A new ring the same size as the original did the trick - no more leaks. Yes, it's fiddly, but it's good to not consign an otherwise good machine to the bin. Total repair costs £7.58 (security screw bits set £5.99, O rings £1.59). THANK YOU.
My solution: I had the whole thing apart and even bought a new brew unit (and noted this video, obviously) but in the end it was ... A partially blocked nozzle! In detail: you'll see that the nozzle where the coffee comes out has four little quadrants. The nozzle unit is (oddly) in two parts internally. An upper chamber (front quadrants of the nozzle) is where the coffee mainly comes out; a lower chamber (back of the nozzle) drains most of the drips/leaks that inevitably come out of the brew unit (whether there's a pod in there or not). This lower chamber - and the rear two quadrants of the nozzle - get blocked. So although you see coffee coming out, the drips/leaks back up because of the blockage, and they drip down the back (as you see in this video). Coffee comes out even though the nozzle is partially blocked! (i.e. the drip/leak draining part of the nozzle is blocked ) Solution is therefore to thorougly clean the nozzle - which you can do I guess with a TePe tooth thing or a tiny brush or something. As I say, I had the whole thing apart so I cleaned it out nicely. I think this diagnosis is consistent with most of the comments I've seen on youtube, and it's an annoyingly simple solution. Apologies to anybody who has a more complex fault!
Phil Cambridge , I had the self same issue. Took it all to pieces, bought a new O ring and no better. Then read down the responses and found yours. Took it to pieces again ( much quicker 2nd time round) and found the nozzle was blocked. Not by old dry coffee, or scale though, but by an insect!!
I am wondering if my similar leak issue is actually caused by the wear on the flat o ring the capsule seats on when closed. Did you evaluate that possibility? Thanks, Ross
I have the same problem and want to replace the o-ring as well. Originally installed is a D-ring. What material for the o-ring did u use? And which shore hardness? Thank you
Tnx for the video. However, I found out that it is possible to remove the part that holds the O-ring without desembling and removing the brewing compartement. With a little patience you can remove it through the bottom of the brewing part when you simply remove the tray that catches the used capsules. It took me about 5 minutes. Without your demonstration I never would have found out though. Tnx. Marty
Thanks for the tip. I also managed to remove the o ring without taking the who thing apart. I found an o ring in the garage, 30mm OD 23mm ID, a bit small but it stretched on and hey nespresso it stopped the leak. Well it hasn’t leak on the cup I have just made.
I saw the video and removed that part without de-assembling the whole machine. FYI there is another clip, on the upper side, under that shiny metal cover. But if you just unclip the lower clip the upper clip looses its tension. No new o-ring installed yet. I just wanted to remove the inside part. Good luck to you all. And thank you very much!!!
Hi guys..I changed the o ring and now tighter fit also cleaned the perforated coffee pod puncher. The leaking have stopped but after making the coffee and when I lift the lid up then excess water falls into the pod tray.. Anyone knows what else could be the issue
Thank you, helpful video, but how did you remove the shell? I have a Nespresso Essenza Mini and now own a set of Tork keys/Mako drivers to remove the 2 screws at the bottom of the unit. After some serious prying of plastic pins with screwdrivers on the back of the unit, I'm going nowhere fast. I'm toying with the idea of standing on one leg and spinning clockwise. I'm hoping there's a more serious solution;-)
Very helpful video - planning to go to B&Q for an O ring - they appear to have a range of sizes for less than £2. However, I would welcome your guidance - when dismantling the M190 one water tube (smaller one of the two) separated from the main body - unsure where it goes back - the larger is ok and remains attached to the white cylinder with a blue pipe leading from it. But the shorter small tube?
You can remove the o-ring without disassembly any extra part, with a small tool press the clip at 1:14 and twist the part to take it out. I found one bigger o ring and its way too hard to install, i have different machine but similar mechanism. Well done for the inf but didn't fix my problem.
Hi thank you for Video.. do you think you can remove the brewing unit without disassembling the who thing? ie can you get to the clip from the tray recess? thx Jim
Did you come across a little spring in there ? I had one come out and the lever doesn't go back as easily . It still works so I should bother with it . Thank you
@octoscott hi I've just taken the o ring part out and discovered the wavy washer, with a bit of missing. Now can't work out where it goes! Did you manage to get it back in somewhere?
@@jackietyler387 it goes behind the part with the o ring :) So first you put in the wavy washer spring, and then you put back the part with the o ring on it :)
@@theknights2537 it goes behind the part with the o ring :) So first you put in the wavy washer spring, and then you put back the part with the o ring on it :)
hi I have the same problem but the wavy washer dropt out from somewhere and I cant find a pic to show where it is supposed to go also the o ring size seems impossible to find HELP PLEASE
Kalin Tonev when you take the part out with the o ring on it sits at the back of that on the brewer housing I fitted it with the gap in the ring at the bottom. Hope that sounds ok. I wish that guy was more helpful after doing such a good video to say what size o ring he used. I have just fitted a 32mm x 3mm and it does still leak.It might be because the o ring won’t take the heat of the water. I am going to try a 30mm x 4mm and a better quality one to see if that works otherwise a new brewer unit.
Thanks for the vid. I am currently trying to repair my nespresso machine as well. Exactly the same fix. However the part where you remove the little plastic part with the o-ring gave me some difficulties. There is a tiny pin and spring that came loose. You do not talk about this in the vid. Have you encountered the same issue? And if so, how did you re-assamble the spring and pin. What is the correct order? Thanks!
Did anyone ever work out where the large wavy washer goes ? It appears to be on the table at 38 seconds in on the video but no mention about where it came from ?
I just took mine apart and it appears that the washer is between the part you remove and the "carrier" portion, just behind the o-ring. I had my machine laying on it's side when I removed the piece so the wavy washer didn't fall as much as it was just laying there inside. At least that is how I'm going to put it back together!
@@johnpeters211 I didn't think to look in there , having struggled to refit after replacing the o-ring ,the wife will be pleased that it might now finally get re-assembled ,hope it works after all this time, next fix will be the Aeroccino which am hoping will be the thermal fuse...Many thanks
@@simonb7846 You are welcome. I put mine back together and it works fine. After some fiddling around I put the machine on its back so the spout is facing up and gravity held the washer there as I put the carrier with the o-ring back. I should have done that first, but I have to learn the hard way.
Thank you for this reply! I just found it after getting the plastic piece of the front to of brew head in order to replace the o ring. I had no idea where it was going to go.
They are not actually rivets, they are oval security screws that require a special tool like this one: smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MS1BBF9?pf_rd_r=6SFDHXPN4G84PNKK58DA&pf_rd_p=5ae2c7f8-e0c6-4f35-9071-dc3240e894a8&pd_rd_r=4ddb479f-e4e4-4be4-bb88-79e3113badfd&pd_rd_w=whdD6&pd_rd_wg=190I9&ref_=pd_gw_unk
They are not rivets, they are anti-tamper screws which need a special screwdriver to undo or, like I did, grip them tightly with the end of some pliers and when out, use a small hacksaw to form a slot in the end of each one so you can screw them back with a normal flathead screwdriver.
Jason Derrick hi Jason, I can’t remember the size. I just took out the old one and took it to the shop to replace with a slightly thicker one. Good luck with it.
Thanks for this, I didn't need to dismantle the machine on a Magimix M190, you can access the brewer o-ring (38mm OD, 33mm ID by 2.5mm "D" shape in cross-section), access through to used pod space, turn upside down a small flat-bladed screwdriver, and a headtorch and it can be unclipped and removed. Turns out my seal was fine, all it needed was the internal face of the machine that the brewer seals against had a collection of congealed coffee, a toothbrush to scrub it off, and seems OK now.
@@stephenandjulia1 You actually get to it from that space where the pods drop into. Remove the clear pod box and drip box and you will see the brewer unit from underneath. Then you will see the little clip bit was can be used to remove that front piece - operate the handle and you'll see it moving back and forth.
Grand one HP H, this is brill! just fiddling a bit with the screw driver this way got the part out of my Magimix 190 as well. Now ordering the O-ring in the same size as you mention, after 10 years it has shrunk a bit :)
I just took the part out without opening it ( it was way too difficult to open it ) so I looked for the clip to undo the part and come out. Now just need to replace the ring. Good luck
@@rainere.270 Just popped one out the original one on my M100 that seems to have the same top mechanism. Outer Diameter is 37mm, Inner Diameter is 32mm, thickness is 2.5mm.
