Your reviews are the best! I’ve read several sites and none are as helpful and thorough as Good Bed. I’m deciding between a Saatva or the Nest Alexander Hybrid in Luxury Firm (which I think is now different from the one you reviewed here). I live near a Nest showroom and could try it. Can’t find a saatva to try but it sounds like saatva is similar but maybe a little firmer? I sleep on back and side. Wondering which is a nicer mattress - saatva looks nice but I like the lifetime warranty of the Alexander hybrid. I also noticed that reviews on Good Bed are much better for the nest than the saatva.

Hi Jayli -- thank you so much for the compliment! We are so happy they've been useful to you. First -- we do have an updated video for the newest version of the Nest Alexander Hybrid: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GUFfIOeVgNY.html& Overall, we would say that the Saatva mattresses are firmer than the corresponding Alexander Signature Hybrid mattresses -- not by a huge amount, but noticeably so. As far as which is "nicer' it just depends on your priorities. We think they are both a very good value. GoodBed readers do comment more favorably for Nest -- pretty remarkable since all brands do get their share of complaints. Enjoy your new mattress, whatever you decide!

I just wanted to say thanks for making these informative and pleasant videos. I'm in the process of returning a ghostbed because it's too firm and just ordered the hybrid signature. Hi Greg -- My pleasure, and thanks for taking the time to let us know that the reviews have been helpful for you! Also, FWIW, I wouldn't kick yourself too hard -- choosing the right mattress can be tricky, and the GhostBed is certainly a good option for some people. We did find the Alex Hybrid Medium to be a tad bit softer than the GhostBed so hopefully it will be a better fit for you. I'll be interested to hear your feedback once you've had it for a while. If you're willing to share a few words about your experience with either of these mattresses, please come back to GoodBed and leave a review. Hello Mike. First off, thank you for these amazingly helpful and informative videos. There are so many options especially with the emergence of the online bed in a box marketplace. I have narrowed it down to two options... 1. Buy a floor model from a brick and mortar mattress store. They offer a great discount and the ability to actually try the mattress before purchase. It also gives me the ability to afford a higher-end mattress at less than half the original retail price. I wasn't a fan of any of the offerings in my $1000 price range for a queen. I am very concerned that these floor models are as- is and arent able to be returned. 2. If I go the online route, the Nest Alexander Hybrid seems like the best match for my wife and me. I am 5'10" 180 lbs. I fall asleep on my back and usually wake up on my stomach. My wife is 5'4" 140 lbs and sleeps on her side and stomach. Your match questionnaire affirms my belief that this mattress would be a good match for us. My question- is the Nest Alexander Hybrid comparable to the mattresses that retail for much higher prices in stores (Serta hybrid for example)? Are they less expensive because of the fact that they have lower overhead than traditional mattress companies? Which route would you recommend? Floor models at mattress store or try the Nest Alexander Hybrid? Once again, thank you for the help.
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Stephen -- Thanks for your question, as well as your very kind words. As I'm sure you can understand, it's difficult / impossible to make a sweeping generalization about whether the Alexander Hybrid is comparable to the various mattresses you may be seeing in the stores. That being said, as a *very* broad generalization, we have estimated that most online mattresses would cost about 20% more if you were to buy an equivalent mattress on sale in a local store. So, you are definitely saving some real money on average, though not as much as most online brands (or other "reviewers") would have you believe. In terms of which route to go, IMHO this is going to depend first and foremost on finding the mattress that meets you and your wife's needs -- no mattress will be a good value for you if it doesn't succeed on that level, no matter its price. In general, this is where I would get skittish on the floor model thing. As you pointed out, a floor model will let you try it before buying, but not return it if it doesn't work out. Whereas an online mattress won't let you try it before buying it, but will let you return it if it doesn't work out. Given those two choices, I'd go with the latter option every time -- as nice as it is to lay on it before buying it, doing so won't give you any real assurance that it will work out. By contrast, your only downside risk with the online option is the possible hassle of returning it if it doesn't work out. But since you've landed on a specific mattress after taking our quiz and then watching our video review of that mattress, you have already greatly increased your chances that this mattress will indeed work out for you. I hope that helps!

Wow, after reading the mattress underground extensively I became inclined to believe all BIB Mattress review sites were full of it. Surprising to hear the savings are only (generally) 20%. Does that hold for memory foam or latex though? At least it seems at the nation chains anytime a mattress gets one of those the price is at least 2k if not 3k.

If you have asthma should you consider Nest Certified Organic?
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi Rebecca. We aren't medical professionals, and people have different asthma triggers, so we cannot advise on that. The Nest Certified Organic is a brand new model -- we can say that Nest has really stepped up its commitment to offering more natural and organic beds. There's good information on their website on the materials and production facility. Looks like workers aren't even allowed to wear perfume. Nest does have a very good 100-night trial period, so that should give some peace of mind should you decide to try it.

How does this matress compare to the casper in terms of firmness and feel? I'm sleeping on a casper now and it's just a bit too firm for me, I weight around 175 pounds. I'm pretty set on trying out the Nest alexander hybrid but I'm having a hard time choosing between plush and medium firm. I do prefer a bit more of that sink in feel then the casper provides.
@goodbed
@goodbed 4 года назад
Hi Robert. We rated both the Casper and the Next Alexander Hybrid as "medium firm" and both have shallower than average cushioning, so less of that 'sink in' feeling than average. We should note, however, that we tried the "Medium" version, and it's certainly likely that the "Plush" version will have more cushioning and conformance, as you suspect. Have you taken our Mattress Match quiz yet? We designed it for exactly this situation. Once you answer a few questions about your body type, sleeping style, and preferences, we can match up your needs against thousands of mattresses from both online and store brands. You'll get a "match score" for each mattress and specific notes about how a given mattress is likely to meet your needs, and it might turn up some models you haven't yet considered. You can start the quiz here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/ Let us know how it goes with the Nest Alexander Hybrid Plush if that's what you decide to order!

Nest has just launched a remodeled version of the Alexander Hybrid, which is now 14". The medium is now called the Plush and it has 3" of the quilting foam & 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam, 1.5" copper-infused energex foam 3.5 PCF, 1.5" smart flow foam 3 PCF, and 8" pocketed coils. The firm has 2" quilting foam and 2.5" memory foam 4.5 PCF in the comfort layers.

Can you explain what changes in the different firmness levels? Do the foams vary in density? Or are there different gauge of coils in each model?
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Jon -- The firmness differential is not related to the coils, which are the same in both models. Rather, the key difference is the firmness (i.e., ILD) of the foams used in the top of the mattress. Note that ILD is just a measure of how firm/soft it is, which with this type of foam is not related to density. Hope that helps.

I'm stuck between this mattress and the Nest Hybrid Latex Mattress. I do enjoy a cooler sleep because I tend to overheat. I'm 5'4'' 130 lbs and sleep mostly on my back but like to sleep on my side. Only down side to sleeping on my side is the mattress I sleep on provides no support contouring to my body because it's so firm so I end up on my back even though i'd like to stay on my side. Since I am more used to it I prefer a firmer feel, yet I believe a medium would be most beneficial for me. Either way I'd say 70% of the time I sleep on my back and the rest I sleep on my side. Wrapping up all this info should I spend more money to get the latex for the cooling benefits (I really don't care if it is all natural or not) or does the Alexander provide more than enough cooling? -Thank you, a guy that has done way too much looking into mattresses haha
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. I can certainly appreciate the sensation of having done way too much looking into mattresses... :) Overall, I would expect the Latex Hybrid to be a little cooler than the Alexander Hybrid, so since you have a tendency to overheat, this could be a totally valid reason to step up to the Latex. That said, it's very hard to anticipate how much the difference would be felt by any one person. For example, some people never sleep hot, while others are prone to sleeping hot no matter what mattress they're on. Overall, I'd say that if you've noticed in the past that the mattress you sleep on makes a noticeable difference in how hot you sleep, then you're likely to get some additional cooling benefit from the Latex Hybrid. But temperature probably isn't the only consideration in choosing between these two mattresses. Even though the use of natural materials isn't a factor for you, here are a few other factors to consider: * Of these two options, IMHO the Latex Hybrid has a bit more solid construction. In terms of its durability, latex is one of the most proven mattress materials available. And other than the latex, the Latex Hybrid features only the springs and the wool-filled quilt, whereas the Alexander Hybrid also features a layer of poly foam in addition to memory foam and a quilting layer. * In terms of responsiveness, the Alexander Hybrid is going to have less "surface bounce" and more "memory" feel -- this is neither better nor worse, it's just a matter of your personal preference. * In terms of cushioning depth, you are likely to find that the Alexander Hybrid offers a little more "hug" or "cradling" (with less of a "floaty" feeling) relative to the Latex Hybrid. * In terms of pressure relief (important for you as a part-time side sleeper), the slow-melting sensation of memory foam is great for this. That said, the Alexander Hybrid isn't exclusively memory foam on top, and latex is still very good at pressure relief, so I'd probably call them a relative draw in this area. Lastly, in terms of softness level, I think your self-assessment is right on the money. All else being equal, side sleepers generally need more softness, as do lighter sleepers like you. So I do think that a Medium level of softness could be a better fit for you than a Firm. I hope that helps.

Mike, Fantastic review, very informative. I am seriously considering purchasing this mattress, bu am concerned with the sinkage over time with the Medium firm mattress. As body heat heats up the foam, you will sink farther into the mattress. Initially the firmness looks good to me (6'1" 185lbs, side sleeper), what I'm concerned with is 6 hours in will I feel as though I am enveloped within the mattress? Perhaps I should opt for the Luxury Firm Model? Thank you! -Sean
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Thanks Sean! I appreciate your kind words and am very glad to hear this review was helpful for you. In terms of your choice of firmness, I wouldn't be too concerned about continuing to sink farther into this mattress as the night goes on. For one thing, there are only 2 inches of memory foam in this mattress, so I don't think that's enough to create an effect similar to what you described. For another thing, your weight and height don't suggest to me that you are likely to sink overly far into this mattress. More importantly, I would expect that as someone who is principally a side sleeper, you will appreciate the additional softness and pressure relief that the Medium model provides. So unless you really prefer a harder feel, I would suggest sticking with the Medium. I hope that helps.

Thank you for the great review! If you were to choose between the Alexander hybrid and the amore mattress which would you prefer? I am a side and stomach sleeper weight 145lbs I do prefer a nice luxury medium firm that doesn't hug the body too much like regular foam but i do prefer a bed that definitely has coils but over all nice comfort.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi +Rjsal 24 -- Thank you for your kind words! These are pretty similar constructions and both of them have a pretty similar amount of cushioning depth and softness, either of which I think would meet your criteria (we tested the most popular versions of both, though they both come in multiple softness levels). So in terms of deciding between those two choices, I would say that the biggest distinction in my mind was that the Amore has a bit less "memory" feel, which makes it feel a bit more like a traditional mattress, while the greater amount of memory feel on the Alexander Hybrid gives it more of that "hybrid" dynamic. Overall, since you sleep partly on your side, where the pressure-relieving benefits of memory foam will be most evident, I might have a slight inclination toward the Alexander Hybrid in your case for this reason. I hope that helps.

What's your favorite hybrid and memory foam
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Melanie -- Thanks for your question. I don't ever pick favorites with mattresses because the number one thing to know about mattresses is that no one mattress is going to be good for everyone. My goal is to help you find the mattress that's best for you -- and since everyone has different needs and preferences, the odds are that my favorite mattress would not be the best option for you. So to avoid the possibility of inadvertently mis-guiding anyone, I steer clear of picking favorites. As a related aside, any website that *does* list the "best" mattresses or their "favorites" either doesn't know mattresses well enough to understand this basic fact or is simply trying to sell you those mattresses (or both). That said, apart from the Alexander Hybrid shown in this video, here are the other hybrid mattresses (defined here as premium comfort materials over pocketed coil support) that contain memory foam for which we have published in-depth reviews: -- Sapira: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-60d11xwreuE.html -- Tomorrow Sleep: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-x7wJzE1mCNI.html I hope that's helpful.

I bought a Nest Alexander Signature in medium which I'm returning since I'm having trouble with low back pain and numb hands on my back plus shoulder and hip pain on my side. The Nest people are recommending a Alexander Hybrid also in medium. I was leaning toward the plush since I felt I needed something softer but the Nest rep. thinks I'll sink too far in because of my weight which is 240 lbs. I was concerned hearing you mention the Hybrid medium tends to be more medium firm. Do you think I'd sink too much into the hybrid plush? Thanks!
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi Susan -- Thanks for your question. As a very broad generalization, your instincts are totally right that needing more pressure relief equates to needing more softness. That said, where this rule runs off course is if one sinks all the way through the softness and then is left to "bottom out" on the firmer layers below. In such a case, a mattress that is "softer" in general could for that person have the feel (and the lesser pressure relief) of a firmer mattress. As for whether this would be the case for you on the Alex Hybrid Plush, TBH this is very hard for me to say with certainty without more information, and ideally seeing you on the mattress. However it is certainly possible in theory. Net, I think my instinct would be to trust the guidance of the customer service rep from Nest. That person has no incentive either way to put you on the Medium vs the Plush -- their only incentive is that you end up a happy customer. And since they have the most information on who returns each of these two models, I would say they are in the best position to guide you in choosing between them. The only other thought I have is that perhaps you would be happier on the Plush version of their Latex Hybrid model. Latex has a more buoyant quality in general, so I would be a bit less concerned about you sinking in too much on the Plush version with that material than I would on the Alex Hybrid. Sorry I can't be of more help on this one, but I hope that's at least somewhat useful nonetheless.
@semerick1122
@semerick1122 5 лет назад
Thanks for your response. The Nest Rep. also recommended a latex bed before the medium hybrid so you're right on target. Because of the cost, it was not an option for me. So I've decided to go with the medium hybrid. Thanks again for your input.

I noticed when you bounced on the mattress it made noise. I hope that was the frame and not the springs. I've seen this same noise in another reviewers video when they dropped a bowling ball on it. Why not use a better frame to isolate for a better representation of that and motion? Thank you
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Yes, the noise you're hearing in this video is definitely coming from the frame we were using. The thing that can make mattress coils noisy is when metal rubs against metal. However, the coils in this mattress are individually pocketed coils, which means that there is a fabric pocket around each coil. This type of coil design prevents metal from one coil from touching metal from another coil -- ergo, no noise. So, any noise you hear when I bounce or move around on the mattress in the video is coming from the frame we have underneath the mattress, which has a very solid plywood platform with additional wood supports running under the mattress. When you have wood rubbing against wood, this can create sound as well, but it definitely didn't affect our test results. I hope that's helpful.

Hi mike, I am considering this mattress but I am unsure to get either the plush or medium. I weigh 160lbs, medium built, and I sleep predominantly on my side like 70% of the time. What are your suggestions of the softness level for me?
@goodbed
@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi there -- Thanks for your question. Based on your description, I actually think either the Medium or Soft *could* work in your case, so I would break the tie based on your comfort preferences and your pressure relief needs. Meaning, if you tend to prefer a softer and more cradled feel then I would go with the Soft, whereas if you tend to prefer less softness and more of a floating feel then I would go with the Medium. Likewise, while the Medium will tend to be the more popular choice for the average person, those people whose pressure relief needs tend to be especially acute (eg, you have fibromyalgia, or your arms / legs are constantly falling asleep) might be happier with the Soft. I hope that's helpful.

The cover is now zippered, and the TitanChill Endurance foam was doubled to 3 inches while the Energex layer was eliminated. Also, the 1 1/2 inch top soft foam was eliminated in favor of quilted 1/4 inch gel memory foam in the cover. I can’t find anyplace that reviewed this revision. How would you compare the median Alexander signature hybrid vs the Saavta luxury firm, which one is firmer?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Jesus -- Thanks for your question. Overall, we found the Saatva Luxury Firm to have a bit less softness than the Alexander Hybrid Medium. One small thing to note is that I phrased my answer in terms of the amount of "softness" rather than the amount of "firmness." This is because some people associate the word "firmness" with support -- and I wanted it to be clear that the difference in the softness of these two mattresses does not reflect (positively or negatively) on the quality of support they provide. I hope that's helpful.
@jah5686
@jah5686 6 лет назад
I'm debating between the Alexander Hybrid medium or the luxury firm compared to the Saavta luxury firm. I'm looking for support yet a soft cover/top within a hybrid type of mattress. I understand that the Alexander comes in a luxury firm as well but being that it's the firmest of their 3 options I wonder if it's going to be too firm. Then again I'm 280lbs. side sleeper and my wife is about 140lbs side sleeper. I know that it would take a lifetime to find the "perfect" mattress but shopping for a mattress is worse than shopping for a car. LOL.
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi Jesus -- Sorry I missed this earlier. Naturally, I completely empathize with how difficult it is to shop for a mattress. I hope you're finding that the editorial reviews, match quiz, and unbiased consumer feedback on GoodBed make it a little easier. In terms of your question, in your case given your weight, I wouldn't generally think that the firmest version of either of those mattresses would be too firm. The reason is that the heavier you are, the more firmness you need from a support perspective, and the less firm a given mattress will tend to feel. I might, on the other hand, worry about your wife on the firmest versions given that she is on the lighter side *and* a side sleeper. In her case, I would worry that anything less soft than what we'd call a "Medium-Firm" could be not soft enough for her needs. This rather material difference in your needs vs your wife's could be a big part of what makes your mattress selection even trickier than most people's. In light of your specific situation, one other option you might want to consider that seems like a good blended fit based on the information you've provided about you and your wife would be the Sapira. You can see our review of that one here: www.goodbed.com/mattresses/sapira/ I hope that helps.

Hello sir, I wanna choose between Alexander hybrid plush, Brooklyn Aurora Soft, and Layla. And I want an objective fact about those... because I bought a purple seat cushion which had a great online review, but I ended up being dissatisfied with it.(firm, back sore provoking) Main priorities for me are 1. Pressure relieving ability, 2. Durability, 3. Stuck-inside feeling like Tempurpedic. According to Tuck.com(which main page says it's unbaised), Alexander Hybrid has 1. Good durability(6-8 years), 2. Good conforming(fair amount of pain relief, pressure relief) Whereas Brooklyn Aurora having 1. Very good durability(at least 8 years) with top notch materials, 2. Very good conforming(better pressure relieving ability than majority of hybrid beds) and Layla having 1. Very good durability(at least 6-8 years), 2. Very good conforming(very good pressure relief). I mean, really? Alexander hybrid is so famous for lasting longer than majority of mattress out there, and I heard it is so comfy! And Layla and Brooklyn ones are better than this? Do you really think Alexander hybrid is less comfy and less durable, less pressure relievable than Brooklyn Aurora and Layla? Thanks!

@goodbed 5 лет назад
Hi TQM. You've hit the nail on the head when it comes to most other 'mattress review' websites. All too often, everything is 'highly rated' with little information that's truly objective. We break our ratings for pressure relief into four categories based on user weight -- because a mattress that is pressure relieving for a 250-pound side sleeper will probably not be ideal for a 150-pound side sleeper. We found pressure relief of the Alexander Hybrid to be very good. We tested the Medium version, which did not have particularly deep cushioning, so while it may have the pressure relief you need, you may not sink as deeply into the bed as you say you would like to. The soft version should give you more of that, however. For the Layla, you have the advantage of having two sides of softness to choose from. On the soft side, we found pressure relief to be excellent for all but heavier people (more than 250 pounds). But the Layla (on the soft side) does have that deep cushioning you are looking for. Although both beds have memory foam, it's pretty quick-responding foam -- it doesn't have that really slow, melting into the bed feeling that Tempur-Pedic is known for. As for the Brooklyn Aurora, we didn't think that pressure relief was quite as good as the other two, and we had some questions about the value of the Aurora, which just saw a big price jump. From a durability standpoint, we did not notice any big red flags in terms of longevity. Here are our reviews on all three of those: * Nest Alexander Hybrid: www.goodbed.com/reviews/nest-alexander-hybrid-mattress-review/ * Layla: www.goodbed.com/reviews/layla-mattress-review/ * Brooklyn Aurora: www.goodbed.com/reviews/brooklyn-aurora-mattress-review/ I hope that's helpful.

@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Jeffrey -- Thanks for your question. You are right that the construction of these two mattresses is pretty similar (memory foam over pocketed coils), so the overall experience will generally be fairly similar as well. Of course, even within this category, each mattress has its own characteristics in terms of softness level, cushioning depth, responsiveness, temperature, etc. We haven't done a formal review of the Flex Supreme, so I can't elaborate on all of the differences in full, however a few differences that come to mind first would be: * the Alexander Hybrid has a a 1.5" layer of non-memory foam on top and a bit less memory foam overall, so will have a less pronounced "memory feel" * the Alexander Hybrid has a bit firmer feel * the Alexander Hybrid has bit shallower cushioning depth * the Alexander Hybrid has a few more features designed to prevent overheating (e.g., air flow, phase change materials, etc.) FYI, in case you haven't already seen it, we did a brief overview video explaining the features of the Tempur-Flex line here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uDkjW2pAFqg.html I hope that helps.

Hello! First, thank you so much for all the effort you put in to these videos. I have been debating between the Aviya or this Hybrid for a few days now, and just can not make up my mind. Aviya seems to be at the $999 price point now, and with the $200 coupon code in the description here, I can almost have this one for the same price as the Aviya. I am almost 300 lbs; start out as back sleeping, but always end up on stomach, so it's tough there. I sleep on a futon right now, so anything is an upgrade. But in general, do you have a preference between this and the Aviya? I would get the Lux Firm option on either I think.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Rando -- Thanks for your question (and your kind words). Based on the information you've provided, if you've narrowed your choices to these two options, I would have a slight preference for the Alexander Hybrid in your case. Given your size, I would expect that the foams in this one to hold up a bit better for you than the foams in the Aviya, so that would be the key factor in my mind that tips the balance. The other option that I might consider in your case is the Sapira, although it's almost $300 more than the Alex Hybrid. I mention this only because I do think it seems like a particularly good match for the needs you described. If you haven't seen it yet, here is a link to the summary section at the end of that review, which explains some of the reasons why it comes to mind for me in your case: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-60d11xwreuE.htmlm29s I hope that helps.

Hello again! After some more reading, I think I may switch it up totally, and go with a Spindle Latex in a firm. After paying attention, I do notice myself waking up on my shoulder with pain in the shoulder (fades away after 2-3 hours), so I must be side sleeping more than I think. My only concern is on Spindle's page, it claims BMI over 31 is not a right fit for their mattress, and doesn't even mention the extra firm as an option. My BMI is pushing 40 where I am at now, but 100% natural latex comes up over and over as a good option for heavy sleepers and I really want to give it a shot. I feel the regular firm Spindle would be a good option for my varied sleep positions, and would serve me well until I smarten up and lose some pounds. Your time is greatly appreciated!
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Glad to help Rando! I have noticed that guidance on Spindle's website before and have always found their cutoff to be puzzlingly low, especially with regards to their firmer models. Latex is a very durable material in general and firm latex is even denser than soft latex, so is even more durable. Overall, I would expect the latex in the Spindle Firm to hold up better under your weight than most mattresses. FYI, I'm guessing you've already seen it, but we did do a video review of the Spindle as well, which you can see here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RN5MzOe-d1k.html

Hi, I tried the Love & Sleep Mattress - King / Firm and I had to return it since I had back aches all the time, I don't think it was the firmness since I even like sleeping on the floor sometimes. Now thinking of getting this one here, do you think the luxury firm is good for me? (I'm a back sleeper)
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Jorge -- Thanks for your question. First, about the Love & Sleep, it's quite possible that the problem was not about the mattress being too firm for you, but rather it being too *soft* for you, particularly since you're a back sleeper. We tested the "Medium" version of the Love & Sleep and found it to have what we'd call a Medium-Soft level of softness (i.e., slightly softer than Medium) with a bit deeper than average cushioning. This made it an especially compelling match for side sleepers, as well as for back sleepers who are under 150 lbs and/or prefer a softer sleep surface. It sounds like you don't fall into either of those camps. In terms of whether this mattress would be a good match, or what other Nest Bedding options might be best for you, the best thing would be to take the Match Quiz, which will get a more complete picture of your needs and preferences (covering the same considerations as this video). If you take the quiz via the link below, your Match Score for Alexander Hybrid Medium will be shown right at the top of your results: www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/?product=mod+nest-bedding-alexander-signature-hybrid Once you've taken this quiz, you can also see a list of all Nest Bedding models ranked in order of how they match your personal needs and preferences: www.goodbed.com/mattress-models/m/nest-bedding/ I hope that helps.

Hi Mike, I've been trying to figure out the best new mattress for me to get and I think I am leaning towards the Alexander Hybrid, mainly because I've never had a foam mattress before but I've heard some great things, but I like the feel and bounce of a spring mattresses. I am a side sleeper, 5 ft. 9in., approx 190 lbs., sleep warm but not too hot, don't like to have my mattress hug me or to sink into it, I want to basically lie on top and have it support me. Do you think this is the best option compared to others like the Helix, Voila, Purple, etc.? Thanks!
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Andrew -- Sorry I missed this question previously. In terms of the criteria you described, it does sound like a hybrid construction could be a good choice for you, particularly one like the Alexander Hybrid that will give a bit more bounce, less "memory feel," and a bit shallower cushioning depth vs. other hybrids. In terms of the other options you mentioned, neither the Helix nor the Purple have support coils (Helix has micro-coils, but these don't provide the deep bounce you're used to), so neither of those will provide anything resembling the bounce of a traditional innerspring mattress. Voila has a fairly similar construction to the Alexander Hybrid, however we haven't done a formal review of that product yet, so I can't offer much more detail on how it compares. I hope that helps.

Is this a better mattress than the Saatva?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi +intercooler2 -- Thanks for your question. The tricky thing about mattresses is that they are very personal, so I can't really say that one mattress is categorically better than another -- only that it's a better or worse match for a given person. As such, the inconvenient truth is that anyone who answers your question as written is either: a) trying to sell you one or the other of these (typically whichever one makes them more money), or b) doesn't understand this basic fact about mattresses. If you're interested in knowing which of these mattresses is a better match for you, we have a match quiz that will calculate your personal match score for any mattress. You can take that here -- www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/ -- and then go to the profile pages for these two mattresses to get your match score for each of them (along with an explanation of their pros and cons for you): -- www.goodbed.com/mattress-model/saatva-luxury-firm/ -- www.goodbed.com/mattress-model/nest-bedding-alexander-signature-hybrid/ Sorry I can't be of more help on this one.

I need help!! We've went through 3 memory foam mattresses only for me to wake up in terrible pain with my back.. I must have strong support.. We bought a cheap mattress at furniture Liquidators with innerspring and it's so firm I don't wake up with the same kind of pain I do with memory foam, but it's too firm for him..But it is extra extra firm and I'd like to have something that is not memory foam but maybe not quite as firm for my husband and I? Can anyone help Lord have mercy 😣😣😣
@karaygeoushearts
@karaygeoushearts 6 лет назад
Blue Eyes What is your budget? Do you and husband value a consistent feel across the mattress or do you mind if it's split? The Nest Latex Hybrid may be good option for you. It has pressure relief abilities from memory foam, but you sleep on top of the mattress rather than in it. You can also split it so one side is firm and the other is medium.

Thank you very much for the really clear and educative video reviews. I really like this Alexander Hybrid!My son lives in a tropical climate and I heard they are hot. Is this true?If so, what would you recommend for a cooler mattress?
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi +blissfulbaboon -- Thanks for your question and your kind words! In terms of the temperature, in this case I think the best answer to that would come from actual owners of the Alexander Hybrid, of whom there are nearly 400 who have shared their feedback in the form of detailed ratings on GoodBed.com. You can browse these ratings and reviews here: www.goodbed.com/mattress-line/nest-bedding-alexander-hybrid/ratings/ As you will see, the average person selected that they "rarely sleep hot due to this mattress" -- which translates to a 4 out of 5 on our cooling scale (to get a 5, you have to select that you "never sleep hot due to this mattress"). Note that sleep temperature is very personal, meaning there are some people who will tend to sleep hot on almost anything and others who will almost never sleep hot. So overall, while there is some expected variation in people's experience, this is certainly a good score. FWIW, this is also consistent with our take on this mattress. In general, we would always say that people who are highly prone to sleeping hot might be better off on a mattress with even less conforming and no memory foam at all. However, as mattresses with memory foam go, this one has less memory foam and more airflow (due to the coils) and also includes phase change materials, all of which serve to reduce the likelihood that sleeping hot will be an issue on this mattress. I hope that's helpful.

I bought this bed and it feels great I do have moderate lower back problems, but I do have a pillow that is about 8 inches height and I am a side and stomach sleeper 145lbs do you think the pillow intervenes with keeping my spinal cord straight while having my head a little higher due to the pillow or what would suggest i do also feel discomfort at times on my lower back as I'm laying down on my back could this be part of the problem or should I have gone with something softer even tho I dislike to much sinkage? Thank you very much
@goodbed
@goodbed 6 лет назад
Hi +Rjsal 24 -- Thanks for your question. 8 inches is quite tall for a pillow, even for a side sleeper. But for a stomach sleeper, that definitely sounds like it could cause over-arching of the spine that would lead to back and/or neck pain. In general, side sleepers need the tallest pillows while stomach sleepers need the shortest ones. Since you sleep in both of these positions, I'd recommend a shorter (more average-height) pillow or perhaps even a thin pillow that would be ideally suited for stomach sleepers but that you can scrunch or fold so that it also works when you're on your side. I hope that helps.

Hi Mike, Could you make a comparison between the Alexander Hybrid vs Loom and Leaf? Or at least I would like to have your feedback has to which one you think is better for my situation. I have back problems and I'm looking for something with pressure point relieve (lumbar) and overall comfort.
@goodbed
@goodbed 7 лет назад
Hi Joel -- Thanks for your question. First I'd just like to clarify one small thing on the terminology front. You say you are looking for pressure point relief, however you mention this in the context of having back problems and needing help in your lumbar. It sounds like what you mean to say you're looking for is back support and proper spinal alignment, moreso than pressure relief. Back support is about holding your spine in a proper neutral position throughout the night. Pressure relief is about trying to make it so you don't even feel the mattress underneath you. The interesting thing about these two terms, and the reason I seek to clarify it, is that these two forces are mostly in opposition with each other, meaning a mattress optimized exclusively for one of these will be terrible at the other. For example, the best back support would be to take a hard plastic mold of your body when standing and then sleep in that -- it would hold your spine in perfect position! But of course, in addition to being totally impractical because you couldn't move, it would also have many painful "pressure points" (i.e., you would definitely feel the hard plastic under your body). By contrast, the best pressure relief would be to sleep on a giant marshmallow (or even a waterbed) -- if you picked a mattress based solely on "pressure mapping," this is what you would end up with every time. However, the back support in this mattress would be almost non-existent... So basically, every person is looking for a *balance* between back support and pressure relief, and some people are going to need to favor one more than another. Given your lumbar problems, which are almost surely a function of improper back support rather than inadequate pressure relief, it sounds like you need to be prioritizing back support over pressure relief. Now, getting to how the Loom & Leaf compares to the Alexander Hybrid, both of these come in multiple softness levels so it's a bit hard to be super-specific, particularly without having all the pertinent details about you and your needs / preferences. That said, some high-level comparisons would be: * Both of them have a bit of quilting material above the memory foam, which is somewhat unique with memory foam and adds a bit of surface softness for both of them. * The L&L has 4" of memory foam while the Alex Hybrid has 2" of memory foam. * The Alex Hybrid has pocketed coils for support while the L&L has foam for support. In terms of what this means for back support, your best back support match will need to factor in your weight, body shape, sleep position, etc. So I'm afraid I don't have enough information about you to even proffer an educated guess on which would provide better back support for you. Have you taken our Match Quiz yet? If not, this is the best resource I can suggest, as it will solicit all the pertinent details from you, and can give you a sense of what softness level you should be targeting and what types of mattresses are the best match for you. Be sure to scroll down to the Online Matches section to see what it recommends for you. Also, once you've taken the quiz, you can find any of the Alex Hybrid or Loom & Leaf models on GoodBed to see your personal match score for those products. www.goodbed.com/mattress-finder/quiz/ If after taking this, you're still looking for a human read on your results, please feel free to come back here and paste a link to your results page and I'm happy to provide my personal take on them for you. Hi Lex -- Thanks for your comment. The mattress market has indeed been exploding with new choices in recent years. In fact, there are now between 150 and 200 mattress brands that are sold primarily online!
