I fucking love how direct and easy to follow this is. Hate it when people try to share their life story when you’re trying to fix something. Following and sharing
If your wires fall behind the wall, you're not going to have a good time. PRO TIP: After you remove the old thermostat, make a hook on one of the wires and attach a fishing line or anything to that can help you pull back the wires, incase they fall behind the wall.
@@ApartmentMaintenancePro just putting it out there for anyone installing. Your cable seems coming from the top and secure, and you are clearly a pro. Thanks for the video!
Awesome video man! I installed one of these about 3 years ago for my boss, was looking for a refresher, this definitely helped! Now all I can do is hope that my thermostat was the issue lol
We have a Carlin 60200fr gas burner and it keeps locking out, and last week i received an error as latch out. Heat is on but had to hit reset at times. would that be the nest or boiler?
Hi, as new ac put in with the nest thermostat. The app is asking for the qr code. Do i have to turn off power to unplug it from the wall, cause it's on the back? Thank you!
No one from nest or Ge motors seems to be able to help me 😫 I have Y, R, G, W as wires. The Nest learning doesn’t have Y, R, W stand Alone and has Y1, Y2, Rh, RC, W1. No one can tell which to choose. Like does Y just go in Y1 since there is no Y?
Great video. Thanks. I tried to replace my robertshaw thermostat 9610. It had red, green and yellow wires and I mapped these 3 onto the Nest. Problem is both Furnace & AC are running when I turn on the heat. Any ideas? Thanks
I had a Nest termostat but stoped working so we bought another Nest 3rd generation exactly the last one but now I can’t set up the Nest App, just it’s frizz when Ask when it’s the termostat located I pick living room or any other and it’s frizz, you have any idea why ??
Very Important (left out) the identification of the wires for a heat pump system. Which set of letters are the ones choosing to later match with the Nest lettering system. It is important since there are two sets in the old thermostat ( for conventional and for heat pump) using the conventional set of letters on a heat pump will not produce the desired results or could even damage the thermostat.
There is no identification for the wires unless you use a meter and OHM out the wires from the wall (thermostat) to the heat pump or furnace. Everytime I mention wire colors its general (but do at your own risk) they can be different
I had to show you why I set up I hooked it up just the way it’s supposed to just the way it was on the old Honeywell and all I get is hot air blowing what did I do wrong please respond ASAP hot as hell
Mine didn’t have the c wire it had rh to rc little jumper do I need the c wire. Or do I not need the little jumper the unit works . Any help or input would be grate
Hi there, I just installed my nest learning thermostat. The old thermostat had 1 red wire that was connected to Rc. In addition, there was a very short red wire connecting from Rc to Rh. Because there is technically only 1 red wire coming from the wall, I plugged it into Rh in the nest thermostat. The a/c is on but when I go to turn it on the breaker, it keeps tripping. Any help please? Thank you so much
The RC and RH should have a jumper wire UNLESS you have a system that uses two transformers. If your breaker is tripping you have a high voltage short to ground somewhere.
Hi There, I have one Lennox AC unit which is controlled by two Lennox M30 thermostats. One of the thermostats installed in my Bed Room has 5 wires only i.e. R, Y1, W1, G and C, the living room thermostat has all these wires with additional Orange wire connected to ACC2. I assume I can connect the R wire either to Rc or Rh, however where shall I connect the Orange wire which is connected to the ACC2 on M30 thermostat? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So I have a Honeywell system but it doesn’t use the blue C wire or it isn’t connected on it but I want to install the nest, so my question is will it matter if I use it or not?
Nest says that you can use this without the common wire. But, from my experience you will have issues with it. If possible, try and hook up the common wire. I can make a video on different ways to do this or there are also alot of them online as well
very good, question my current thermostat doesn't have a c wire. does the nest thermostat need the c wire to work. i purchased a nest 3rd generation wifi. I have an electric hot air system and a/c in the same unit.
Some may charge without the C wire but it depends which model you have. Nest sells a power connector that’s pretty reasonable as well that works like a common wire
Great video. I have a wireless Honeywell TH6320R Thermostat. Is it possible to replace it with the Nest Learning thermostat? The wiring for the Honeywell is in the basement. Does the Nest need to be on its base, or can it be remote? Thank you
Hi. I post it here for helping the nest community. Mine didnt work first time, it didnt cool wired the same as the video, and I have to rollback twice. Solution: Conventional furnace doesnt have heat pump, we have to use the "W1" instead of "O/B".
Thanks for the video is excellent. We, my son and I , install one of those today but there were some problems, the ac was going on and off so he decided to turn it off. We change a Honeywell to the Nest same that you show in the video. we mess up on one wire didn't where to connect it. We had W on E, Yellow on Y, Green on G, Red on R, Blue on B, and Brown on C, on the Honeywell. Move to the Nest and connect Yellow to Y1, Green to G, Brown to OB, White to W1, Blue to C, Red to RH. Can you please verified the connections and see if you see something wrong to fix. Thank you so much
I have a carrier infinity system and my HVAC guy told me it would be a “downgrade” to install the nest thermostat. He ordered a new Wi-Fi thermostat made by carrier and it will cost me about $900. Am I being ripped off?
I don't know. While Nest thermostats are awesome, there are definitely better and (pricier) thermostats on the marker. I would do your own research as I have no idea which carrier infinitiy thermostat or series you have is :)
Hello…. My nest thermostat in living room is on and in master bedroom is off. But the bedroom temperature is keep on rising until I turn off my living room thermostat. Please help me with this. TIA.
I just bought my first house and this is day two of owning the house.....I have a natural gas furnace and the thermostat is upstairs and it is a very old analog thermostat that's in Fahrenheit.....I live in Canada so I'm Celsius or no Celsius I'm thinking of getting the nest gen 3 thermostat I believe it's $329 here and wondering if it's worth the money?
Been on the phone with nest for 2 hours and they are telling me my wires wont work. its worked fine for 3 years until the nest battery started having an issue. Now they cant tell me how to get it hooked up. No videos have my setup. Not fun not having ac in Florida
one thing wrong with this installation. When putting the wires into the new nest box, you should push the buttons in first, then put the wire in, then release, the button should stay down. If it doesn’t you may not have a good connection.
What’s up how you doing? I got a new google nest thermostat. Tell me all about how to use it how to operate the Google nest thermostat I haven’t installed. Yeah I have somebody come install.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Man I did everything I was suppose to I turn on the heat and my condenser turns on! I’m like wtf all wires are labeled took the pic for reference and yeah my condenser turns on lol
My system only has 2 wires (red & white) connected to the existing thermostat. There is anantenna box controller connected to the system which, is believed to have been installed because the other wires aren't working, due them being damaged etc? My heat and AC currently work. If I install a Nest thermostat, could I continue to just connect only the red & white wires?
