If someone ever wants to understand why he’s so confident when not throwing 100, come down to Hialeah. Anyone from that area knows if you don’t have the utmost confidence in yourself, you’ll get eaten alive by everyone else in Miami. The dude is a gamer.
I've been curious if a pitcher has ever worked with a psychologist or a body language professional to help themselves deceive the batter. I know pitcher's pay attention to batter reactions and timing to adjust for the next pitch but I'm talking about little quirks that'd make the batter believe a change up is coming then they blow a FB down in the zone. For example, an exaderated dig-in on the mound to think a FB is coming but it's a slider, or an unnatural shoulder shrug to show fatigue to make them believe a slow pitch is coming but no, it's just another FB.
You'd think so, right? After all, in arb or free agency the return on saving a few runs would more than pay for the effort. Still, predicting how _others_ will respond to _your_ body language, and under stress, is a very tough guess to make. Simply focusing with a great hitting coach and using video of when hitters get set and when they load---then figuring out how to specifically mess with that physical process, might well be the way to go. Great comment, btw.
@@johnstrawb3521 The way I look at it is if the batter is sitting 50/50 on FB or Change up and if the pitcher throws out a signal to tip the scales to 60/40 it's human nature to commit to the 60 when the ball leaves the hand. Those added milliseconds to change the batters mind is all that's needed to get them off balance.
one comment is crazy. basketball videos will get tons of views and tons of comments. that’s why i love this spot though. baseball is still to this day underrated and “boring” to many. well not to me. i’ll take all the knowledge i can get from Nestor and MLB network any day! And as a fellow lefty this information is GOLD!
