@chuch52: you can just reset the NAS and it will work. the proper way to do it is turn off the NAS, press and hold the reset button. turn on the nas and when you see the lights on either first or second hardrive release the reset button. that's it...hope it helps..

@dalomesser I cannot answer your question exactly, but if this is attached to a wireless ethernet router it is then available on a wireless connection (eg a laptop).
@geekanoids
@geekanoids 14 лет назад
@jollino As far as I know you can use it with one disk and then add another one later, but you might have to backup your data whilst the XRaid is setup and then pull your data back across.

What are the wireless possibilities of this device? Can i access wirelessly if i add a wireless adapter to the ethernet port etc, or does it have to go through a router.

If I connect this to the home network system aswell as accessing files etc from laptop, can I also watch films etc via TV which is also on the home network?

Yes, this should be possible, but for films I would look to a model that offers video encoding.

I completely agree. An amazing review, I am not sure if I missed the speed of the USB though, 2.0 or 3.0? I was also wondering what were the capacities of the hard drives bays.

Excellent review, thanks. 1. if an external USB HDD is attached will the backup button copy the whole contents of the drive up to the NAS? 2. can this model be joined to a Windows AD domain? 3. if so will it preserve windows share and NTFS permissions when this is done. 4. Will it stream DivX movies to an XBox 360? Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Could I use this to stream HD (either 720p or 1080p) Flash videos to my website (also considering that my Router uses a dynamic IP to connect to the T-Online servers here in Germany. Could i configure it to be accessed from any location on the world via a web browser using a Service like DynDNS and not just a simple FTP connection ? Thank you in advance.

@badger0681 Yes, you can use for both. I would go with this one.

Which would be better Synology DS212J, DS212 or NetGear RND2000 or RND2110? That is just for general itunes, ftp and mkv/divx/mp3 stream at home.

Dave - I have both mac and pc computers on my network. Can i use the nas drive to store files for both without problems. Which would you go for the lg with the blu ray disc burner or the net gear duo ?

Hi, had one of these for a while now, review is spot on but the fan is very very noisy during start up. What is the max size disk for this model? I currently have 1 750gb and 1 1Tb disk in it. Thanks ever so much.

Hi. Very nice review. I have an Asus laptop without cd/dvd drive, is it possible to download drivers from Netgears site? And you mentioned that you can stream your content to your PS3. That means that you can stream to the xbox 360 as well right?

Hi, I want to use this drive as multimedia drive (same room as my tv). Are the noise levels high? I'm planning to put 2.5" 5400RPM drives in it (with a 3.5 adaptor) to reduce the heat level and noise level, will the NAS still be audible with this config?

Sorry, I know this is an 'old' video, but you mentioned this NAS drives' ability to stream to your PS3. If you're only using your PS3 to play the video/mp4/avi etc, then can you use an AppleTV device instead of a PS3? I have a 2012 MacBook Pro and would like to stream content from a NAS drive to an AppleTV device. Would this Netgear device support that? Cheers Dave, keep up the great reviews!

I am using this product now for more than a year. (2 x 500GB spinpoint F1) data rate 5 mbps on a good day maybe 10 mbps. Did everything.. disable everything exept smb. real factory reset a few times... (holding the reset button for a long time so it reinitialised) setting the mode from x-raid to raid-0 nothing is running on the system. It is a peace of crap!

Lol, you don't need to use the raidar software to locate the readynas duo. In fact you don't need to install it at all!!! But I see that you're a mac user, you sorry fool.

you need to work on your video capturing skills, tons of realestate being wasted with desktop crap. next time get a tighter shot of the web interface, this is basic stuff.
