When I was a child, I played in a local creek with my friends. We saw lots of crayfish but never could we imagine that people could eat such a thing. How wrong I was when I worked in New Orleans and found out it was such a delicious dish. I'm from Ontario, Canada. I love your videos and how you catch and clean what you get, awesome stuff!
Growing up in Texas we would catch crawdads in drainage ditches after a fresh rain. We’d tie a string around a piece of bacon and drop it into a crawdad hole. Those were good times.
Man I crawfish in north Louisiana, it’s even harder. One tip I can give you is I noticed when you set pillow traps you shoved them straight down. That essentially blocked off the 2 funnels. You gotta set them at a steep angle. I use thin bamboo stick thru the trap into the mud when I get angle right. Other than that it’s trial and error I went out today and caught 47 pounds with mixture of 13 pillow traps and 3 dozen flat nets. It was a lot of work but paid off
Growing up in the Hudson valley of NY back in the 80's we used to use sunfish (froze em then cut them from head to tail down the belly turn them inside out and wired them into our crab cages) we let them thaw out overnight in the back of the pick up so they were good and stinky for the crabs to go nuts over. We went for German soft Shell and Blue crabs. we used to use Crayfish for bass bait.
Hey from the Catskills. New to your channel love your zeal for life. Up here the young folks aren’t taking to the outdoor way of life. They are missing out.

Jared, another great vid, I do love me some crawfish omelet, cook it often during the season. Might have to go try my hand at catching my own, used to do it years ago, I did enjoy it. You have a blessed day my friend , Keep up the good life.
I love saving the tails from a boil to make other dishes with, it gives that extra little kick of flavor. That omelet looked yummy for sure. See you on the next one.
