Let's not pretend that Chevy detunes the Camaro engine because they don't want it faster than the Corvette when all they had to do was make the Corvette 600 pounds lighter . Dodge didn't define the hellcat , it had more hp than the viper . General motors makes idiotic decisions. They could have given the Camaro 755 hp to compete with the gt500 and hellcat but didn't. Stupid. That's the real reason their sales numbers went down.

I always said this. The ZL1 should've had at least 750hp and the SS should've had at least 500hp. Chevy always underpowered these cars. Everybody knows the ZL1 and the Chevelle always had more hp than the other muscle cars!

If GM had just gotten TF outta the way of the old Pontiac engineers instead of obsessing about making everything slower than the Corvette at literally any cost (and often even failing to do that with the Trans Am), we probably would've had a nearly unbroken string of 700-hp offerings from GM from the original Musclecar Era forward, even thru the smog years, lol.

They were ugly until around 2019 when they got the new tail lights imo. Fifth gen was way better with the signature square-shaped corvette-style tail lights. Very chevy. Of course, the limited production run of the Z28 is still top tier. But I'm glad they are making a new one.

Here's what I noticed, over the last 20-30 years I've seen a lot of changes. Let's use my area as an example, I used to see traditional American muscle cars all over my neighborhood. Now, I'm seeing a lot of younger drivers in European cars. Since I grew up in the US I guess I like what I always liked, I still drive a Z28 as well as a Mustang GT. If my neighborhood didn't change I think there would be more Camaro's, Mustangs and Challengers.

I don’t know about the slow part. But the problem I think occurred is that the SS just isn’t worth it. It doesn’t keep up with the mustang mod for mod and the higher trim(zl1) cost way more than a mustang. Used 2016 SS’s are still sold at 32k+. Meanwhile a used 2015 to 2017 mustang are in the mid to high 20’s. Why by a SS, when you can buy a ZL1.if you can’t afford a ZL1, buy a mustang.And before you say it I’m not a Mustang fan boy, I think the SS looks and sounds WAY better than a mustang. But the problem is that I’ll have to build the motor to keep up with a stock motor 5.0. And I’m still paying more for the Camaro then mustang.

My son had a Crush Orange 2019 2SS 1LE that was a blast to drive. I was very surprised at the cornering. He ordered and now has a 2023 ZL1 1LE. That thing is pretty crazy!

@@yakino159 Software engineer... He's a smart, young guy who busted his tail to get good at coding, got himself a great internship while still in HS. That company hired him at age 17 right out of HS. They had to hire him as a contractor until he turned 18 because of his age.🙂 He's now 21 and with his second company doing quite well. Makes twice my salary after 30+ years of teaching!! LOL!

I’ve driven a Camaro and I did not notice any “visibility” issues. Also if your pushing a car that powerful (any car) you will ALWAYS need to pay absolute attention to what it is you are doing. Yea the windows are smaller than the others but it doesn’t bother me 🤷🏻‍♂️

Exactly. I had a Gen 6 SS and visibility certainly isn't great like in an Accord, but it's no where as bad as some people make it out to be unless the driver is short. It actually had the most comfortable seats and seating position of any car I have ever owned.

Marketing won’t make people buy a car that they don’t want. I’m a car guy so don’t shoot the messenger. Most young folks don’t care about a “hot” car. I know it was not like that when we got our license but it is like that now. No amount of “marketing” is gonna save the Camaro.

The Camaro doesn’t appeal to the buyers who can afford it. Almost no outward visibility to sides and rear, very limited rear seating w/o the resale of the Corvette. $50,000+ asking price to the crowd that may not own their first home is quite a reach.

GM’s design team really screwed up with the Camaro. They didn’t push the envelope with design like Ford did with the Mustang GT350 and GT500 or dodge did with their Hellcat. They also didn’t push the performance of the car like they did in the 90’s and early 00’s. They disgraced the Camaro namesake and completely screwed up when they killed off the Firebird and Trans Am and GTO. All because they didn’t want any of them to compete with their mighty and overpriced Corvette. Back in the 87, the GM executives were absolutely pissed off when the Grand National smoked their mighty Corvette. It’s called innovation and competition! Let your own teams compete with each other. If the Camaro team is beating the Corvette team it obviously means they are dropping the ball big time. Increase the production rate of the corvette so the cost can be lowered because their is absolutely no reason it couldn’t cost what the Camaro costs if they were built in the same number of cars each year.

Chevy problem was always pricing. You can get the same performance in the two other brands. The only reason I went to a 5.0 was I wanted to trade my 5th gen for a 6th gen. Drop the price

wdym? u can get a ZL1 for less than 80k and it will beat the redeye and the GT500, you can get a 2.0T for less than 30k which will most likely tie the ecoboost and the SXT, and you can buy the V6 for 32/33k which is for me the best investiment considering it's power, weight and the 10 speed-auto, it will beat the Mustang and the RT's mopars, what else do you want?

No you can't. The Mustang chassis is not nearly as good as the Camaro. I drove a Mustang GT with the track pack, 6 speed and the the Camaro SS 6 speed and the steering feel and chassis dynamics are far better than the Mustang which is why I ended up buying the SS.

There's no question Camaro's have always been an excellent car, its pretty easy to see why. I do have a theory why sales aren't where they should be, I can't speak for every area in the country but there used to be Camaro's and Mustangs all over my neighborhood 25 or so years ago. Now its European stuff, most of the people driving those cars just so happen to be the worst drivers I've ever seen. I'm thinking because the neighborhood changed so much that seems to be why I'm seeing less domestics, I'm not jumping ship ever, I still drive a Camaro and a Mustang. Maybe just hopefully changing locations.✌️

It's all a matter of opinion. Had the 2016, 2019 and 2022 (all SS) and drove the 2020 ZL1 with a Callaway supercharger... I liked them all. I do have an issue with the 4 cylinder, V6 and the 1LT or whatever that less than SS was. Those fronts are horrible past 2019

The Camaro was/is not a sports, nor a "muscle' car. That term was applied to American mid-size 2-dr coupes with big engines. The Camaro was a direct competitor to the Mustang, which birthed the term "Pony Car" for this genre.

All they had to do was stop keeping it a level below the Vette. They couldve have made the Camaro more of a beast than it already is. Put it more into the category for a true muscle car and do what Dodge did and focus on the straight line street and track racers. That way the Vette would still be what it is competing with the super cars and the Camaro will blow away theuscle car section.

I've had four, 6th gens and I can't imagine my life without them. I've had a 2017 SS, 2017 ZL1, 2019 ZL1 and now 2022 ZL1 1LE and these cars have honestly changed my life. Its gonna suck when they go. I'm glad I got my newer one though. Gonna hold onto it for a long time.

1 inch lower, 2 inches shorter in width, and 3 inches shorter in length, did it in for me. All Chevy needed to do was update engines and fun colors for the 5th Gen, after the 2014 refresh. The goggle tail lights in 2020 were another mistake.

Same here, but not the 1le package. Gotta question. For you guys. Have you had troubles with the torque converter shutter? Supposedly they use the wrong fluid. I had the same issue with the 50th 2017 Anniversary 1SS and my 2018 2SS.

This is simple the reason why it didn’t sell is because of the horsepower wars. Everybody using the excuse of you can’t see, would quickly went away if it had the ZR1 engine. If this Camaro was kicking Redeye ass it would sold, GM was the only division that didn’t care to compete. This is the only reason Camaro didn’t sell it look good but if you got car with more hp, nobody gave a shit this is the reason point blank!!!!

Chevy did this to themselves by making a cheap car with a premium price. Changing the looks of the car so you have to buy a top package to get a good looking car doesn't help either. Product availability is an issue also. Chevy has created this problem and then blames the customers for not buying their over priced, and under performing vehicles. We should have let all the manufacturers go under during the economic downturn. They would had 2 options. Make quality vehicles at competitive prices or go bankrupt. Just my opinion though.

Packages that enhance the look of these cars isn't anything new. I'd rather have a gt 350 over a 5.0 on looks alone. Scat packs over R/T..unless what? You add a package. How much is that wide body package? It's ok to just simply not like the camaro

Bought a new 2019 2SS and traded it for a new GMC Canyon in 2022. The Camaro had 1580 miles on it and to this day I wish I still had it. Ended up selling the truck back to the dealer. Looking for a another new Riverside Blue 2SS.

As a Ford guy, I can swallow my pride and admit that the camaro is on a better platform. I just wish Ford would make another gt350 with a lower center of gravity and a more mid engined design. It's a shame to see the camaro go. It really shakes up the competition! I'm afraid Ford may get complacent now that their two biggest competitors are no longer in the business. It already seems evident that they have, with the S650 having softer steering and less road feel. Hopefully, they will fix that with the higher trim models.

Chevy has always been famous for cheap plastic interior.. I had a Malibu for a rental a few years ago had some cheesy 4 banger turbo engine and a cvt transmission I thought was going to come apart.. Nothing lined up inside.. dash was crooked.. it was an LTZ so probably 40 grand plus .. I wouldn’t give them a nickel for it ..

ZL1 aside, I couldn’t get past the ugly front end of the 6th gen. That said I lucked up & got a super low mileage manual 2019 ZL1 at a price I couldn’t refuse & the dealerships inability to move the manual car. Right place Right time for me. Now the seventh gen will come back as an EV SUV 🤢🤮

Too bad they and the Challenger weighed near or over 4,000 pounds from the get go. Should have had some engineers from Lotus and the Miata designers help with development. Imagine those same cars weighing 1,000 -2,000 pounds less.

RIP 2nd Gen Camaro (‘09 - ‘24). For the second time, the Camaro fails once again. As a Ford Mustang owner for the past consecutive 27 years, it saddens me to see the Camaro go the way of the dodo - its very presence kept Ford on its toes, forcing Ford to innovate and continually improve the Mustang.

The absolute thing I do not like about all new Cars is they don't have Regular Bumpers. This is the Reason it's not appealing to your buyers. Our neighbor had a 71 1/2 split Bumper Camaro. That's My Favorite of the Camaros. I hate it that they almost always make the bumpers the same color as the car too

Well here we go again just like in 2002 when the production of the Camaro and also the Pontiac Trans Am came to an end due to the lack of sales just like in 2002. Not to say that these Camaros weren't worth the price but they were once again out of the reach of the fans who wanted one especially the the ZL1 models like myself. I consider myself a GM fan just like many others. I own a 1999 Camaro Z28 with the LS1 my engine has nxcess of 305 thousand miles on the original LS1 it has never been rebuilt and it still going I wanted to try to reach out to General Motors to let them know that I have one of their engines with that kind of mileage on it and still going I don't know what the record is on an LS1 mileage but I'm hoping to General Motors will hear of this and maybe take my LS1 build into something awesome or replace it awesome built LS7 427 cubic inch that would be a dream to have a 99 Camaro with an LS7 in it. But that's just a pipe dream. I wish I could have a ZL1 I wish I could afford it but financially speaking it's out of my league.
